When Krusty the Klown ran for Congress as a Republican, they had a hilarious version of FAUX news and their news crawls.

You begrudge us a laugh now and then? As opposed to wailing and gnashing our teeth 24/7?

Laughing now and then doesn’t mean other things are not taken seriously. But without some humor, some laughter in life, you might as well crawl into a hole and die.

That reminds me, Fox News viewers are morons.

Jon did not comment on the news crawl because there was nothing he could add to it.

I am now convinced that Fox News needs to be accompanied by a warning from the Surgeon General.

Jon Stewart is positive role model for men-children everywhere. :)

I always see left-wingers criticize Fox News in that manner, yet I never see specific examples of what annoys them so.
Did Fox News knowingly run a fake news story with fake documents in a pathetic attempt to influence an election like CBS News did?
Well?

CafeenMan Says:

Matt Groening has done some great stuff but this whole contrived fox controversy makes him look like a fellow conspirator. He works for Fox and if Fox really wanted him to stop bashing them they wouldn’t have let him go on Jon’s show and do it some more. It’s just publicity bullshit.

How many times did he have to force the issue before Jon picked up on it and let him continue the charade?

DFL…

yer right.

given that the average viewer of FOX is 70+ years old, they are competent to decide what is accurate and what is boneheaded drivel…

and I imagine many of them are laughing at what they deem as non-stop satire

Probably, but I do know they play wonderful tricks with their graphics like placing a “D” next to kid diddler Tom Foley’s name on air. Oopsie!

It’s nice to be able to laugh at something now and again… This the Groening Interview was a hoot! Last time I checked he was still doing “Life is Hell”, too.

Just thinking… Maybe a “Mid-Day Happy Hour” built along the lines of your great “C&L’s Late Nite Music Club“.

A life spent only on serious endeavors would be, IMO, a life wasted.

Let’s see, to being with: the frequent, daily “lies” told by Faux Noise people, such as
“O’Liely, Hannity, Brit Humm, Freddie boy Barnes, J. Gibson monkey,Charlie Krawmouth;
just to name a few. And, if not telling lies, their absolutely narrow-minded, biased
position(ALWAYS to the right) annoys me too. Further, they are an ugly group of
idiots, so with makeup, they still look like shit…I could go on and on and on about
Faux Noise and what annoys me, but I think you get the point..

Yes. And here’s a list, vetted by the media watchdogs at FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting, founded by Jeff Cohen, who was employed by Fox for a time)

When “Fox News consumers” and “mindless” are used in the same sentence, the word I think describes it best is “redundant.”

I think New Zealand has it correct here.

Perhaps, if we quit laughing at the misery our leaders inflict upon us, maybe - just maybe - we’ll click the “Off” button on the remote control and actually DO something.

Anyone notice that Matt Groenig repeatedly missed the point?

If homer knocked up Marge in high school (or shortly thereafter) and is 38 now, that means he was roughly 17 or 18 at the time. Therefore, Bart should be 20-21 years old. This is why it doesn’t make sense. Groenig still couldn’t grasp that after multiple attempts, and thought that “not aging” explained it all away. It really doesn’t matter, but I thought it was funny how dense he came across.

:-)

Fox is absolutely right to ban the news crawl on The Simpsons.

Remember that studies have shown that Fox News viewers are far more likely to believe things that are demonstrably false than viewers of other media sources.

Running a cartoon crawl on a cartoon show is just asking for trouble.

38
JayDee Says:

As much as I like everything Matt Groening has done, I would really like to ask him one thing. The Simpsons have repeatedly poked fun at GHW Bush and Bill Clinton, the latter while he was still in office. And by poking fun, I mean creating an on-screen character to play them, not just an obtuse reference to some hot-button political topic. But after 6 years, we still have yet to see George W debut on the show. My question is, why? Is Groening under a FOX directive not to do so, or are his politics showing, or what? Or are they all afraid of what might happen if they parody a president who is himself a walking, talking (poorly) parody of what a REAL president should be?

39
solid Says:

Jay: “OOOOOO!!!…Fox News is the Boogeyman!!!! OOOOOOOO!!!

No, dumb A, they just work for the boogeyman. They’re simply a bunch of bed-wetting party whores, but they get decent pay for it.

FAUX is helping perpetuate an unneccessary troop endangerment based on false pretenses, cheerleaded an impeachment for an indiscretion, and routinely act dismissive on possible impeachments for actions contrary to the Constitution.

And to top it off the “values” voters revere an Aussie who started the corporation after he got much of his wealth off of page 3 girls.

That would be an excellent question for the Simpsons staff. They were merciless to Clinton (”I’ve done it with pigs - honest to god pigs, I tell you!”). Yet not a peep on Bush.

They did kind of sorta when they went through photographs while Homer was the Safety Lizard of him punching out George HW Bush, and georgie jr.

Although they didn’t show boosh, they had a great episode where the Simpsons were jailed for hating America, after a temporarily deaf Bart, accidentally mooned the flag.

Do Moonies moon the flag?

Yes, and not playing partisian politics, that question should have been ask by Jon Stewart
or and answer sought from Groening himself. Anyone know how to contact him, so that
we can seek a response?
