Judge rules: Bush can't hide Presidential records indefinitely.

[click for larger] AP via Think Progress:
The ruling was made in a lawsuit filed by the American Historical Association and other organizations, which argued that Bush’s Executive Order 13,233 was an “impermissible exercise of the executive power.”
A bill that would overturn the order is pending in the Senate.

How about his National Guard records?
Gotta love a Real American Judge!
Does anyone really think they won't take the to the Supremes? And just how do you think Kennedy will rule?
Yeah...he's gonna respect a judge's opinion.
What's next? Apologize for the war? Admit he was wrong?
I'll never live to be that old.
Dude, you just KNOW the shredders will be workin' overtime.
And just how many decades will pass before we can see any of this. I do believe they're still fighting over Reagan's records. Besides, most of the good stuff probably "got lost" with all those e-mails.
Any incriminating evidence that Bush may not hide will mysteriously go missing.
Anybody care to bet they won't?
thanks for posting on this...finally some good news..
jimbo92107 @ 7:
Sure, but I'm betting with U.S. dollars ;)
Executive Order 13233 limits access to the records of former United States Presidents. It was drafted by then White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales and issued by President George W. Bush on November 1, 2001.
That must be what Dick Cheney has the man-sized safe for!
The judge that presided over the ruling is in for a rough time . The swift boaters are leaving port .
Now we understand that what is called "National Security" information is really political information about Cabalist activities and frauds and corruption schemes.
GonzoD @ 11:
Don't you mean zombie-sized or vampire-sized?
Sorry if I offended any zombies or vampires out there...
That judge better have travel insurance because Bush is the travel agent and he's booking people on charter flights to Guantanamo Bay.
That's my snarky remark of the day.
McDuff out.
Speaking of political cartoons...
This is why I find it hard to like The Onion...

i doubt if any of his records will ever see the light of day........but it would be nice...
Judge rules: Bush can’t hide Presidential records indefinitely.
In the year 2145, archaeologists unearth the Bush regime's Presidential records from a previously secret vault at an undisclosed location. Speaking about the find from his hermetically sealed bubble at the University of Antarctica, the last remaining nation state, professor Bumblefuss declares: "My God! No wonder we're so f*cked!"
Cythraul @ 16:
LOL
Wow, I'm a moron.
I just looked over their past cartoons and realized they are all totally meant sarcastically.
Duh.
IN THE SENATE? That's making feel real warm and fuzzy. Those weak-kneed pricks have been nothing more than an embarrassing disappointment and a sad result to 4 years of trying so hard to get them in.
Snowball @ 18:
Probably more like Fire Destroys Building Holding Bush Administration Records in 2010. Space heater to blame.
Things have been known to go missing from the White House, like 5,000,000 e-mails. Stuff can always disappear and re-appear if needed (by the few).
razant @ 20:
the question is: does the shrub have to sign the bill rescinding his exec order? That is, IF the nad-less ones actually put one together and pass it....
L.A. Confidential @ 21:
I don't think there'll be a fire, convenient as that may be. Megalomaniacs and their followers like to have original documents for posterity, and their own war-rooms memorabilia collections. To neo-con ideologues they're the Magna Carta of our time.
Probably more like Fire Destroys Building Holding Bush Administration Records in 2010. Space heater to blame.
The likely end result of billions spent on the missile defense shield.
cont'd... You know, look hither son, here is the signing statement that started the war with Iran.
Props to the judge. sunlight is the best disinfectant
OT: I hope you post the daily show clip of Chris Mathews interview tonight.
He talks about nothing but how bad Bill Clinton was and how bad Hillary will be. John Stewart really gave him hell over his book. It was great. Every half baked response from mathews was Clinton this, Hillary that.
This guy should not be allowed on TV except as another O'reilly.
Since a president can, at their discretion, declassify anything they see fit via executive order, what's to stop the next president from declassifying and releasing ALL records from the current administration - Bush, Cheney, Gonzales, the whole lot.
I say we, the people, should ask, if not demand, that of the next president.
As a healing gesture.
Bush will burn all the ones cheney doesn't like. By mistake of course.
GonzoD @ 11:
Most crooks keep their skeletons in closets.
I'm just impatient for the day when Bush and his administration ARE history, the sooner the better.
bush either opens his presidential records or i say that we shut down his library and
farenheit 451 it.
Oh, you mean like they were going to cut off funding for the occupation?
Right, not holding my breath for either.
And who will enforce the findings of the court? The Democrats? hahahahahaha!!!!!
Hey. Give him credit.
He's the best Fascist Prez we've ever had.
May he go to Hell.

Snowball @ 3:
Roberts will prevail in a 5-4 majority once again proving that "Strict Constructionism" is a myth and justice is subjective.
I like the cartoon, Yeah Jr. History WILL be your judge, but you wont like what the outcome is. I think in his stupid way the idiot is under the impression that only the winners get to write the history, I would love to point out to the know-nothing that it is actually historians who write history, and they don't always take the winners word for it. The best curse I could ever lay on this clown would be for him to live a really, really, really long time, long enough for him to see what final judgment history will lay upon him and the colossal failure he calls a life.
Glad we had the foresight to invest in paper shredder manufacturers.
Choam Nomsky @ 36:
LMAO
Bush will just request that the judge declared a terrorist by Congress. Leiberman and Kyle will fashion a bill, and with the full support of all the gutless douchebag Vischey Democrats, It will pass. The hapless judge will be disappeared into the black gulag death camp system.
L.A. Confidential @ 10:
Didn't take them long, did it?
Can someone confirm the rumor that the GWBush Library will consist of a two-drawer file cabinet?
Watchdog @ 40:
Sadly the same people that will honor GWB's legacy are the same people who use 'The Flintstones' as their base for science. Of course all the people with more than 3 brain cells will know better.
Which will promptly get filibustered by the GOP congress critters, and the Dems with a couple of GOPs who hate Bush (such as Hagel) will only get 55 votes for it, thus killing the bill.
And the beat goes on... la da la da dee...
One of Bush's first acts as President was to remove the official papers of the Reagan Administration from the National Archive, and they have not seen the light of day since. What makes us think that there will be any legal way to get White House documents from this petty dictator? What makes us think that the rubber stamp Congress has anything but the interest of their respective parties in mind when they supposedly speak for us? The only thing we can do is to remove every seating congressman and replace them with someone that will speak for us. And you know how we do that? We do it by taking over the control of the two parties national organizations, away from the good old, do it our way or the highway, stooges that have helped to destroy our country.
Coffee, wheres my coffee. The Kona this time. I can afford it this week.
Although it will be sweet to expose this fucking loser for what he is and for all to see, the damage he has done and is about to so will be done. It is a catastrophe in the making and it sickens me that he is still in office.... absolutely sickens me.
I hear they're already offering Fawn Hall a job.
I am positive that history and his records will show what a great president he is and how cowardly and misguided the dissenters and especially the democratic congrssional leaders are.
They should make public his whole administrations records - damn bastards.
List of crimes keeps growing:
destroyed a countrys infrastructure
made 2 millions people homeless
killed more than 2 millions since the 1st gulf war (sanctions and war because of their supposed WMDs)
stole 9 billions dollars of their oil revenue money through the Provisional Authority
EVERY MOTHER%$%@# involved with this war is either a supporter, executor, or a thief.
Supporters - US GOV. and their ALLIES and our Evangelicals
Executors - loyal troops (at least these guys can claim they are only following orders and aren't allowed to think for themselves)
Thieves - Blackwater, NorthStar, Halliburton, and the rest of the war profiteering whores.
Also for the evangelical christians who follow their leaders like blind monkeys - your lot is nothing but that - a bunch of retarded monkeys.
ALL of you ABOVE: know that without JUSTICE nothing else can exist; LOVE wont save you when you face the JUSTICE our GOD will no doubt bring down on us all.
we're all so bummed out, sarcastic and hopeless. what a sad state we have come to.
Conservative and Proud @ 51:
Thanks for the laugh.

Humanity will remember the American empire as a propagandizing war machine. Democracy is a facade. Americans enjoy their way of life on the blood and bones of other people and nation-states. There will never be peace in this world as long as Americans live under their war economy government, and realize this. 9/11 is another Tonkin Bay to justify the use of their military.
The whole American government is corrupt, backed by a war economy. And being the sole super-power in the world doesn't justify the military spending, so let's fabricate wars and further consolidate massive wealth to the Bush family and their friends. These guys have been in the US government for the past 50 years and have pulled the wool over the peoples' eyes. But blood is still on your hands, with 90% civilian casualty in Iraq. Iran is next. Its time to stop the killing.
The legacy that Bush is leaving America is already known and so obvious that it will not be possible to cover up:
