There was an op-ed article recently in Reason magazine, which bashed both of those books for trying to indoctrinate children into one political belief over the other. The main point of the article was, just let children be children, which I totally agree with.

Kids, left alone will get along with one another and not judge one another. When my sister was about three or four, a Cuban family moved into the neighborhood. They had a little girl the same age as my sister. The little girl spoke on English and my sister spoke no Spanish. Heck, that didn't slow them down. They played dolls together every day and loved one another. Neither of them ever learned the others language but they knew the language of fun and friendship.

When I was little they forced me to learn about the bible. It didn't have a long term effect on me. ;) I survived it and learned to think for myself. You can only control a kid's thoughts and brain for so long.

I'm pretty sure I can say it, but who's Hiler? And what does his/her youth have to do with anything? People grow up ya know. Ya can't keep holdin' Hiler responsible fer noogies he or she gave when 10 years old.
Both books are apparently real and both I think are abominations. Share your personal values with your kids and let them decide when they get older.

I couldn't believe those Jackson books were real (nor Jackson, either!), but apparently they were. However, I think Jon Stewart and Oliver were portraying something else, too. Remember all that crap about news programs showing both sides of a story? (Even if there's no other side worth mentioning?) Well, this skit was certainly showing both sides to enormous effect!

The point of mentioning Hitler's Youth, is that a large part of Hitler's propaganda was aimed dead at German youth (Brown Shirts, anyone?).
People. Please don't forget your history. It's repeating itself, right in front of your eyes.
However, I'm not surprised. If you look into the Bush Family history, there were big friends of the Nazi party, way back when.
And that's not hearsay, or conspiracy theory.... it's history. Prescott Bush had much of his assets seized for actively working with the enemy, at the height of World War II.
We should not be surprised at what we are seeing from the right wingers.
What's really delicious about this to me is that so-called moralists like Eric Jackson are too dense to know when they're being set up. Or does Jackson think that any notoriety, regardless of how bad it makes him look, is better than none at all, especially if it's free?
Eric Jackson and his brain-washing "childrens" books are revealed for the right-wing nuttery that they are, and he didn't see this coming? Or welcomed it regardless? If so, then it's true that Republicanism is the realm of willful idiots.

My high school soccer coach was a German immigrant who had been in the Hitler Youth as a schoolboy. He grew up to become a Democrat when he moved to the states. Not sayin' his story speaks fer all Germans who went through what he did...And I know many people who were spoon-fed right wing bullshit through their childhoods only to become liberals. I've also known some children of hippies who grew up to become uber-wingers.

So either one of these clown authors have a base of 150 million people to sell their books too. It goes the same for hip-hop music, Brittany Spears, People Magazine and friggin Midnight. There's always a large group of nutcases that it will appeal to...just because of the size of the country.
It's why obesity is becoming so accepted. Half of America are lardcakes and accept each other.
