Mike's Blog Round Up
By Nicole Belle Tuesday Oct 30, 2007 10:00amIt's SteveAudio back again, and there's some sad music playing today:
I'll leave this old world with a satisfied mind. . . I wrote over at my place about the passing of country great Porter Wagoner. Famed Broadway singer Robert Goulet has sung Camelot for the last time. As Howie mentioned earlier, unClear Channel refuses to play Bruce's new album.
Better pray for your sins, 'cause the gay messiah's coming. . . How gay were the Hardy Boys? Huh? And is Republican the new gay? Wouldn't it just be easier to get a show of hands from Republican politicians who really really aren't gay?
Stupid people do stupid things. . . I'm not sure waterboarding is torture, it might just be a fun party game. Brad liveblogs the hearing for DoJ's Voting Chief who says "minorities don't become elderly...they die first". Let's de-euphemize these "values" voters and call them what they really are: wedge-issue voters.
Money don't get everything, thats true. . . The Australian Dollar has moved from $.75 to $.92, and it has kangaroos on it! And the IMF says the dollar's falling off a cliff.
I can't believe that there's a nightmare on my street. . . From the lovely and talented MJS, we have Halloween-GOP style.
Can't top that, so we're outa here. Here comes the break song again, hopefully no more musicians will die today. Send any tips or song requests to steveaudio at earthlink dot net, with Blog Round Up as the title
So long, we're here all week, oh, and the manager says watch out for the fugu, it's a little off.

Frist? Then I'm going to vent, just sent this to msnbc.com:
You are performing a gross disservice to the American public by only showing Dennis Kucinich's response to an absolutely obnoxious, out of place question that has nothing to do at all with anyone's ability to lead this country. Why don't you show his response to the first question you asked him, you know, the answer where he called for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney, an act that a majority of Americans agree with? (Google "impeach bush and cheney" and you get one million eight hundred and ninety thousand hits).
Why don't you show his other responses, each of which he quoted specific bills he has introduced? Kucinich's positions on most factors affecting Americans today are more in line with the general population than any of the other candidates in both parties. And that is what scares you, a President who would wean you off the corporate teat. After all, I'm sure General Electric is doing OK with all war all the time, wouldn't you agree?
Tim Russert is a fool and a sycophant. He practically drooled all over himself anticipating asking that asinine UFO question, a question that he damn well knew would make the cable news rounds today. What part of professional, responsible journalism does this represent?
If these debates were to really mean something, we would bring back the League of Women Voters, or some other organization that has no axe to grind, to moderate what are, at the moment, staged events to promote the two candidates most favorable to the Military-Industrial-Media Complex.
You call them Hillary and Rudy, I call them Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
One disgusted American,
SORRY FRIEND, WHEN ASKED FOR A SHOW OF HANDS FOR ALL NON-GAY REPUBLICANS....
many were unable to raise their hand, for fear that the 10-year-old would break free and run down the street
>"it may not be long before the Canadian dollar is joined by the Australian dollar in passing parity in its US exchange rate."
Might want to do a little more background on that one ...
R.I.P. Robert Goulet.
His work on "TV Funhouse" was sublime. "I told you, no more margaritas!"

Karen Hughes, the US State Department's top image maker and a longtime confidante of US President George W. Bush, is quitting her post, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday.
Yippeeeeeeeeee!
Hughes told The Associated Press that she plans to quit her job as undersecretary of state and return to Texas, although improving the world's view of the United States is a "long-term challenge" that will outlast her.
No kidding!! Ya don't say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonder why that might be!!!!
... and have never been gay!
that's as wide a stance as I need!

Agreed. The Canadian dollar is beyond parity and has been for some time now. In fact, they are saying that if the Fed cuts interest rates by maybe 50 basis points we may see it gain to strengths against the U.S. dollar that have not been seen since the end of the American Civil War.
Dear "values voters"
thanks for killing the dollar
You guys over there don't need a Holloween to scare the kids with, just explain what the Bush Administration is doing to their Future, their country, their debt.
That ought to scare the crap out of them.
I put up a dart board in my living room with bush and cheney (lower case intended) on it and have gotten pretty good at hitting the eyes.
Springsteen doesn't need Clear Channel to get his message or music across... And as consumerism goes... Those pricks need us a lot more than we need them, so my short message to the good monopolists over at Clear Channel? Keep it up boys and girls...
And when you go bankrupt, look in the mirror for somepone to blame... See here's the deal... There are necessities in life and there are frills... YOU Clear Channel.... are frills... You better figure that part out the next time your bean counters tell you the market can bare another x percentage rise in bills....
Consider yourself warned..JD
Joe O.,
The Canadian dollar has outperformed the US stock market by @20% in the past three years on a post-tax basis. Not a bad cash haven.
Nicole,
Thank you very much for including my link in Mike's Blog Round-Up!
if you have the UGLY teeth in your Halloween plans, don't forget lead levels up to 100 times what the government allows have been detected.
Thanks China
There's also the case of the recent blog by Dan Armstrong, who worked with Obama, and is describing Obama's description of his own New York past as a big embellishment (new york times). I'm asking myself - should Obama reveal more of his New York past to get out of this blunder?
Did Porter Waggoner ever schtupp Dolly Parton?
MarcLord @ 13:
I can't argue with you there. I've gotten some good gains myself from it.
Our money should be so loonie as the Canadians.
And another Family Values senator busted.
L.A. Confidential @ 5:
Heckuva job, Brown-eye...
We've got an old saying in Tennessee... or at least, we do in Texas... I think its the same in Tennessee, "Don't let the screen-door hit you in the ass on the way out."
I think one of the best ways to improve the image of the US abroad is to lock up Karen Hughes on a ranch somewhere in Texas.
So Bruce Springsteen getting censored from some channel is more important then the censorship of a man RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!!!??? I dont get it. Why don't you care? These are important times and no one is looking...
I decided I'll be a troll for Halloween:
I have a six figure income you liberal losers!
I served in Vietnam and the Civil War. It was called that because we tipped our hats first.
George W. Bush is the greatest leader since Prince Vladislaus Barsarab III!
Global warming would be solved if everyone smoked more cigars!
Everything that's gone wrong in the last six years has been the fault of the Democrats who gained control last year!
Old Billy @ 19:
Just hopefully not the Chicken Ranch.
Jackie @ 18:
Poor closeted bastard. Maybe someday Republicans can have sex like normal grown-ups.
ysbaddaden @ 21:
I think you forgot to mention Clinton's penis.
Old Billy @ 24:
Clinton's penis leans to the left!
Read the truth about Republican gayness!

Now the Bushie party can admit to being the greatest party of closet Gays.
old hack @ 20:
We are looking, and we do care, there's just sooo much fucked up shit goin on right now in this country, we're all gettin whiplash tryin to keep up!
Last time I went to Florida, the Canadian dollar was worth .68 cents, now it's worth $1.04. One bright note for border states: the Candians are digging the cross-border shopping now. I'd say the greenback is going over the cliff.
I also wonder if oil is really going up, or if it just costs more in becoming-worthless US dollars. A great way to increase prices for consumers-- you/us, eh??
Bush has deliberately planned for mega-inflation so he can pay off his debt to China with a handful of trillion dollar bills and have one left over to buy a Bic Mac.
:)
Yeah, Mukasey supports waterboarding.... he does it himself!

Why Hillary Was Right On Licensing
Thanks for the nod! Barbi at Nightbird's Fountain wrote me this morning to let me know.
There's a lot of de-euphemizing and de-mythologizing that needs to be done before we can expect honest, open government. Or, from where we're standing today, a sane society. Sanitizing the nutbase by calling them "values" voters doesn't even begin to lipstick the pig, nor does it perfume the mess they've created in their zeal to subvert the Constitution -- and our nation with it.
We knew back in the '80's that the "moral majority" was neither. It shouldn't be a surprise that the GOP is full of toe-tapping, wet-suited, opportunists wearing thigh-high fishnets and their beards' -- uh, wives' chunk heels. Their emperors and the whole crowd were plumb nekkid then and have only gotten nuttier and even more in-your-face with it since.
We've let them play with insanity for the last 6 years and guess what -- it didn't work. Our infrastructure is on the verge of total failure; we can't respond to national disasters; the ultra-rich are carting off what's left of our national treasures (fiscal and environmental); our dollar isn't worth a continental damn; oil prices are setting new record highs; illegal domestic spying is at an all-time high; our borders are still porous; more and more Americans can't afford health care; and only 26% of America thinks we're headed in the right direction.
Boyhowdy, 26%-ers, if this is the "right" direction, I'd hate like hell to see what the wrong one would look like. Germany was led down a primrose path in the 1930's with just as slim a margin of support for a destructive, subversive, insane form of leadership; one that is made from and caters to the very, very lowest of human darkness and depravity. (And I ain't talking just wet suits and fishnets.) We can stop the merry-go-round right now, at the last instant before it's too late. We owe it to the Constitution, we owe it to the Founders and we owe it to our own humanity.
Paul @ 1:
the only question now is how softball will the questions asked by our vigilant media be to the republicans who choose to debate. how about russert, you going to ask them the same asinine questions along the line of ufo sightings. you tool you. i'll bet anything, you were constantly teased and beat up in school for being such an obnoxious a hole.
