*PHEW*! Middle of the week…you made it! Now it’s just a jump to the left…
Actor212 of Simply Left Behind, among other blogs, here making the turn into the homestretch of my week-o-guest blogging Mike’s Blog Round Up. So what’s on tap for today?
- Somalia. Sande alerts us to the similarities between Somalia and Iraq. The key word? Chaos.
- A bit of a scoop from NYC Educator: Rudy Giuliani hates “socialized medicine” run by government. Then why was his prostate cancer treated under a government healthcare program?
- His Vorpal Sword reminds us that Scott Beauchamp is not the first soldier harassed by right wingers for speaking truth about Iraq. Another kind of war porn.
- I get FreeSpeechTV on my Dish. A few weeks back, FSTV profiled the Freeway Blogger. I made a mental note to get him up here, so…Blogcalypse Now…(*note* May not be safe for work)
- Haiku. Gesundheit! A quickie from the poetess, MadKane on Pakistan. - Here’s a vaccine against the new talking point for the Republicans: “The Do-Nothing Congress.” Don’t let it happen to you
- Finally, the Weblog Awards are winding down. I know John would never toot his own horn, but that won’t stop me from tooting it for him….wait, that didn’t come out right. Anyway, you can vote for Crooks and Liars here, for Best Video Blog. And so long as you’re in a voting mood, please vote for my blog, Simply Left Behind, here, if you like the job I’ve been doing with the Round Up.
Please email tips to Actor212 care of Yahoo spot com. I can’t promise to post them all. I can promise to read them.

Sweet… C&L is number one but keep voting!!!
It’s called the “Bath tub test”
“During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director “How do you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalized”
“Well,” said the Director, “we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub.”
“Oh, I understand,” said the visitor. “A normal person would use the bucket because it’s bigger than the spoon or the teacup.”
“No.” said the Director, “A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?”
ARE YOU GOING TO PASS THIS ON, OR DO YOU WANT THE BED NEXT TO MINE?
This is not really a sanity test. It’s a test to determine if you have been in the public school system which, for the purpose of social control, gets people in the mode of following suggestions instead of thinking for themselves. “
middle of the week? a jump to the left?
you must be facing south, no?
Bush and the Dem Congress suffer the lowest job approval ratings in history.

Servitude Sucks Don’t It?

Ummmm…maybe because he’s a hypocrite?
C’mon, that one was just too easy. Rudy is a Republican — and although he isn’t quite as strident as some about belonging to the party of (soi-disant) “family values”, this is the same man who during his tenure as mayor of New York City engaged in at least one extramarital affair about as openly as you can possibly imagine short of publicly announcing the fact to the press — the same man whose wife at the time first learned that the marriage was over as the result of a press conference. Rudy is a self-serving flip-flopper — and if he is selected as the Republican nominee, this is just one of the things which needs to be held over his head like the metaphorical Sword of Damocles.
(I might put in parenthetically here that if the GOP was so intent on going after Clinton because of his extramarital affairs…why aren’t they doing the same with regard to Rudy? Fair’s fair…if it’s a sign of poor ethics and/or character in a Democrat, it’s an equally sign of poor ethics and/or character in a Republican and perhaps even more so given that so many Republicans claim to endorse “family values”.)
*sigh*
i remember when actor212 was just another C&L post-er… now, all grown up and successful *sniff*
kudos to actor212, and a great blog
:-)
Thanks, Samson. This experience has been truly a revelation for me. And to Mike and John, thanks for having me, even tho I still have a few days left.

I was going for the Time Warp to speed up the week.
I’m missing your reference…REM?
Just read where pat robertson supports rudy for prez. Geepers, that means the godly one supports divorce, abortion and gay rights. He also plans to vote for a man that wears makeup and dresses fairly regular like. I wonder if pat likes rudy better in heels or pumps?
To be fair, my source was Joe Conason in Salon, which I did link to in the story. But thanks very much for reading our little blog.
For the record, I also have GHI, and it’s been very good for my family. It’s well beyond time every family had the same access to health care, and even further beyond time this country recognize Rudy for the petty dictator he aspires to be.
He had the audacity to stand and demand that he stay beyond his term, despite term limits. His rationale was he had to keep up the morale of the police and the firefighters. Actually, he’d been denying them contracts for years and they despised him. NYPD, originally his most avid supporters, had befun demonstrating against him.
So Roosevelt and Lincoln had to stand for re-election, but not term-limited Rudy. Fortunately a public outcry caused him to abandon that plan. Now if only the public, which deemed him a bum on 9/10, would realize that he has not fundamentally changed.
I think the Weblog Awards server has crashed. Anyone else having problems getting to the site?
Vorpal Sword? nicole,, did you play d&d?
Piren @ 13:
It’s been up and down more than Larry Craig’s toes today.

Hee hee hee!
Thank you for the cite. Much appreciated.
And to answer ‘rend’: “vorpal sword” comes from a very famous English children’s poem.
You might whiffle through the tulgey wood and look it up.
D&D, on the other hand, is a role-playing game with dice.
Mimsey were the boragroves.
Dunno why I remember that.
