You can catch it online (nbc.com)!

I don't have cable, but I watch a ton of GOOD tv via the internet.

Support the Writers Strike and DO NOT watch the episodes on the NBC website. Internet content is at the heart of the main fight between the WGA and the producers.

I hate TV anyway so that won't be a problem.

Hmmm... interesting that Time-Warner here in Austin, TX decided to do a cable box firmware upgrade at exactly 7:30-8:00, local time. It was back up and running for The Office at 8:05... we just had to miss 30 Rock, all the while wondering why they decided to do the upgrade during Thurs prime time... hmmm.....

That show is underrated...I think Alec Baldwin is fantastic

Doesn't that mean he crossed a picket line?

Hey even Betty's in on the action.

You know, they don't actually show them live.

Ha!

Al was gooood.

Okay.

OMG! THAT ROCKED!

If only he'd run!

Wait. What?

Judge Judy is on the intertubes?

WHERE???

I don't think the writers weren't on strike when the episode was made. Just enjoy Al Gore's appearance.

Even though isn't it strange that Green Week was the same week as the strike.

jen8933 @ 6:

wah! i don't have a teevee:(

Count your blessings.

'Killed it'...is right on.

LongTooth @ 15:

Doesn't that mean he crossed a picket line?

Yes, NBC tapes all its shows the week they air. They love living on the edge.

I liked that the episode made fun of the corporate green week it was part of.

Me too. And I wish things turned out differently in 2000. If Gore had won, we'd be living in a whole 'nother world right now: A sane one.

shows will completely shut down when they run out of written material. that's why feature films aren't affected - there are a zillion scripts out there written and ready to go. just stuff that they wouldn't touch last week (that can be good and bad).

regardless, i saw tina fey interviewed on the picket line two days ago so that show was definitely taped before the strike.

and, alec baldwin IS fantastic. the episode/scene where he goes to therapy with tracy morgan is unbelievable.

Al rules. I love when he does comedy stuff

um, hi. Spinster English Teacher here...the phrase you'd want to use, I think, is "he killed". (based on its original usage among comedians--"how'dja do out there?" "I killed, dude.") to say "he killed IT" is to infer that he stunk up the joint so bad that the show was rendered lifeless.

sorry, I'm just a big ol' copy editor at heart. :)

nbc execs reading-we will not be watching your shows on line

So Gore did cross a picket line.

Shame on him.

Who is this?

Whoever he is, with acting like that - he should stay out of politics.

Sorry, I don't see where the WGA is asking the public to boycott watching the shows online. The only thing I see that the WGA is asking of the public, as of right now, is to sign its petition.

As for 30 rock, according to Tina Fey, they still have another 4 or 5 shows already in the can.

Well, seein' that the promos featurin' Gore were airin' before the Writers' Guild decided to strike, I'd have to guess that yer wrong.

Now if this were a live show, instead of a pre-recorded sitcom set behind the scenes, you'd be right.

But yer not.

Sorry, I fail to see where the WGA is asking the public to boycott watching the shows on the internet. As of right now, all I see is that the WGA is asking the public to sign its petition.

Exactly, I was confused upon reading the description. By the way, Gore was just great, great! The whale line was fantastic.

excellent.

He was a little off with the timing until he heard the whalesong--then he totally nailed it.

Alec Baldwin comic genius. Tina Fey understated one liners, brilliant.
And Al Gore takes off to save a whale? Perfect comic timing.
The man continues to surprise. Where was this charismatic character in
2000?

Very lame acting on all parts. Very lame writing. Very unfunny.

Jeez. Just what CAN'T Al do?

Pretty damn good.

What would've been funnier is if Al had said "Listen! I hear the Manbearpig!" and then runs off....

Al Gore speaks about "Manbearpig"

I know I'm guilty of confirmation bias here, but why do the best (read mature) dry wits seem to come from the moderate to left end of the political spectrum? Franken, Gore, Stewart, Maher, JFK back in the day. But give the right their due; they sure know how to drop the one-liners:

Attention sick children - cram it, you future welfare bitches.

That's one seriously hilarious disease you've got, what with the jukin' and the jivin' and disco this and Night Fever that. Whoo-weee!

I said "faggot." "Faggot." Ho ho ho! Hey Senator "Faggot!" Ha ha ha ha ha!

Yep, that's right. Nobody makes money on internet downloads but the robber barons. Certainly not the aritsts. So DON'T watch them on the internet folks! Read a goddamn book. Remember those things?

I loved him on 30 Rock! I love 30 Rock! I love Al Gore! I had an aha moment when I saw him tonight - I saw him as Americas President it was great to see him as President and as a man who could restore the Presidency to all it's glory!

Hahahahahaha!

Love ya, Al :)

Okay Moktar - "okay is that it? Do we have to whip em out and measure em"

I was reminded of Denny Blain when Gore said "Listen..." and exited the stage. Too Funny! Me thinks Al and Tipper watch another of my favorite shows Boston Legal for acting lessons.

Well I think this is a better poll than most and I like the results. I'll be voting for AL Gore if he is on the ballot and if not Dennis gets my vote!

They came out with that "You" crap because they didn't really know what to really come out with. Just plain bullshit!

They offer it free. free from those pesky residuals

He's so way ahead of his deriders...!

He DID win.

Oh, damn, I wish he hadn't decided not to run.

Just think what this world would be like now if Clarence "Uncle" Thomas were not such an abject asshole.

Wow! NBC is on the cuting edge, recognizing global warming. Give me a break. How bout next time they do a theme on getting America out of Iraq, or stopping the genocide in Darfur. What a cheap pointless stunt. The only good thing that could possibly come out of this would be if they left Ann Curry in Antartica.

LongTooth @ 37:

So Gore did cross a picket line.

Shame on him.

No. He didn't. Most prime-time television shows are taped way in advance.

That was great! Looks like Al Gore is having a much better time NOT being in politics. Who can blame him for not wanting to run for president? It would tie his hands and restrict his ability to speak out freely on issues that really matter to him.

I actually don't think so. I think the wingnuts would have continued their agitation of the system in the arrogant belief that the public agreed with them. They would have gotten nuttier and nuttier and eventually done something we all would have regretted. Something a lot worse than attacking the twin towers.

Look at how they're acting when their dickhead President is at 24% in the polls. They literally cannot think right about anything. They believe that America, "Real Americans" are mislead by a "Liberal Media" and that everything is just fuckpeachy in Iraq. We have the lowest "unemployment rate" in 20 years, and the economy is just going GREAT GUNS. Yayy! CLAP LOUDER!

But the public understands these people now. They understand that Republicans are stupid, mendacious, greedy cock-gobbling self-loathing liars who have no interest in what's good for America.

Kind of like a really bad piece of meat that you've eaten. You can either throw it up and taste it again, or let it pass through you and feel some pain. The public's had to feel some pain.

Of course, we may get a chance after all to regurgitate Cheney. I understand impeachment's on the table. I'd like me a piece of impeachment pie, please.

"This earth is ruined! We gotta get a new one!"

If I didn't LOL at that line, I'd probably just break down and cry, as true as it is.

Kyle...you are so right. I wish they's leave Ann Curry anywhere. She's the worst...well, she's bad...and stupid.

No, it was brand new. But the episode was taped before the strike began.

I was so shocked to see VP Gore! I just caught the tale end of the program and had never watched it before...it was funny!! I mean really funny!! Alac was hilarious, as were many others. But the thing that cracked me up the most was at the end when Gore heard a whale in trouble and had to dash!! Striping is jacket off as he went.

I dont watch sitcoms on the major networks
the only sitcoms I watch are on FOXnews.

a loyal bushie

SPEW Alert!! must wipe coffee off monitor - "a whale is in trouble" (Here I come to save the day)

Why is he referred to as "Vice President Gore"? The man was elected President and he should ALWAYS be referred to as "President Gore. He legitimately won a presidential election and was illegitimately denied the presidency. We didn't rise up in sufficient numbers with sufficient action to take back our democracy when our own Supreme Court stepped outside its Constitutional bounds to deny us his presidency. The very least we can do is address him as "President".

With me, it's always "President Gore". The other guy is simply "Bush", "Dubya" or "Dumbya" -- but NEVER "president".

And that's my beef for the day. Thank you and have a great weekend.

Ain't that the sad truth? When arguing with my republican friends, they ask if I'd rather have Gore in the WH...I'm like FUCKIN A RIGHT I DO!!!!!

Doug @ 54:

Al Gore speaks about "Manbearpig"

Please don't mention that episode. It's embarrassingly bad.

I said it before and I'll say it again: It's one thing to satirize a legitimate aspect of a person's personality. For example, were they making fun of President Bush, they could have him acting like a complete idiot.

With Al Gore, it simply doesn't make sense. He's highly intelligent; read any of his books and you'll see that. Before he was a politician, he was an accomplished academic.

"Super cereal?" Give me a break.

It'd be the same if they took Einstein and made him say: 'Hey, guis! Look at this stuff I found out! Everything is relativational! I'm super cereal!'

Does it fit?

Exactly.

Trying to smear someone in this way is weaksauce.

Just sayin'.

Well Shawnmeat some of us have different senses of humor. I didn't think that Manbearpig episode was a smear. I do know Gore is very smart and that is why it was funny to me.

Satire is subjective.

Making fun of Bush for being an idiot is cheap and not very hard. What is funny is if they made fun of him as being very smart.

While I liked the appearance I certainly can't help from feeling a bit strange that he just said treaty instead of kyoto treaty.. was this a bit of censorship that went right past all of out noses so happy to see gore saying all of the great things he did say during his appearance

Me thinks that FoxNoise can't make fun of his weight anymore. It appears the VP looks mighty fit.

Brilliant !!!

are you all under 30?

Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains. -Sir Winston Churchill.

“…this earth is ruined, we gotta get a new one!”

Ha!

When you come to a commentary section of a web site and there is a Frist person on it
then it is a bad sign.

But what does "And he killed it" mean? Not clear. Killing it is good? Bad?
