John McCain supporter on Hillary: “How do we beat the Bitch?”

video_wmv Download | Play wmv (h/t Scarce via MyFox)

McCain falls all over himself to apologize when his mother went after Romney’s “Mormonism,” but didn’t seem to mind very much when one of his supporters called Hillary a bitch.

Instead, as the room erupted in laughter, McCain said he’d try to offer a “translation.” Somebody in the audience shouted out, “I thought she was talking about my ex-wife.” There was more laughter all around, and then McCain said: “That’s an excellent question.”

Is that an excellent question? Agree with her politics or not—this is all about gender—it’s a disgrace—and McCain should have said so as forcefully as he distanced himself from the Romney remarks.

McCain - your mother is a bitch.

Let’s see what he has to say about that.

McCain doesn’t do anything “forcefully” anymore. He has become a lap-dog to the party and won’t say or do anything to risk that, even when it’s the right thing to do. Doing the right thing is not expedient.

ronnyg Says:

It’s time for Democrats to take Congressman Weiner’s stand, and start saying “Republic” party ad nauseum.

McCain at least was respectful when the dust settled; I still don’t believe he has a chance, as the bloodlust of what seems to be a majority of the party needs someone more of that ilk, like Romney or Giuliani. Hillary will crush either of them in a debate; I think McCain would be her toughest challenge in a debate.

A.Citizen Says:

Wonder what Republican women voters think of this?

I do not support The Hill for reasons relating to her stand on policy. But….

If the ReThugs think this is a winning strategy they are even more bat-shit nuts than it seems.

justabill Says:

McCain said he respects anyone who gets the nomination of the “Democrat party”, but apparently not so much to not take a swipe at the entire party when saying so.

Straight shooter my ass.

Bush Republicans are ignorant and isolated. It’s not entirely their fault.

8
bandit Says:

Let’s not overlook the fact that he “respects anybody who receives the nomination of the DEMOCRAT party”

Uh, how can you respect their nominee and simultaneously call them a name meant to be disrespectful?

Sincerely respectful of that a$$hole George W. Bush,

bandit

Hillary will bitch-slap them silly.

IgnoranceIsNotBliss Says:

….as forcefully as he distanced himself from the Romney remarks.

I didn’t view him as forcefully distancing himself from his mother’s comments regarding Romney. He might have been a little embarrassed, but he wasn’t forceful in his rejection of her view. Not with all the snickering and laughing between Mathews and McCain following the remark.

I agree it does get rather sickening to hear this but do we really want to stoop to their level?

Totally agree. “Republic” or maybe “Publican” party.

I can’t believe I almost voted for this douchebucket in 2000.

True as true can be.

Medical Diagnosis by Video Says:

Crazy John McCain “respects” anyone who gets the nomination of the “Democrat” Party.

It’s “Democratic Party” asshole.

And if any of the Dems had spines, they’d start saying “I respect anyone who gets the nomination of the Republicant Party”.

But I’m an Independent–I think they all SUCK. (except Kucinich and Paul).

And I don’t believe that McCain is close to Hillary at all (and I don’t care for her, or him).

If Hillary had taken the question, “How do we beat that jackass?” her response - no matter what it was - would have filled two Fox news cycles.

Know what you mean. I didn’t come close to voting for him, but he had my respect back then. If he had stayed as he was and not think that becoming a party boy was his best move, he’d likely be sitting pretty now. Too bad, John.

Women are meanest to their own. I’m sure Republic women don’t hesitate to call her a bitch.

Uh John. You need to get the nomination first, and while we’re at it McCain said that he “respects anyone that gets the nomination of the Democrat party”

Democrat party!

Even Democrats are referring to their party as the “Democrat party” or at least Rahm Emanuel did it the last time he was on Real Time with Bill Maher.

Am I silly to make a big deal about this?

Ben Says:

John Edwards is kind of a Bitch.

28
PapaB Says:

Reminds me of the story about how the disrespectful young man greets the old woman with “Good morning, mother of dogs.” To which she replies: “Good morning, my son.”

29
Dennis Says:

Team Pantsuit can call Tim Russert a Hitler for asking a simple question or two in a debate, but McCain is supposed to admonish some supporter in the room for calling her a bitch.

I know being a liberal blog this use of profanity is quite shocking, but ask yourself if any of Hillary’s supporters ever referred to any of those mean men running against her as bastards. I doubt it, but hey, it could happen.

30
Le Roi Est Mort Says:

John McCain is a pathetic, cancer-ridden, shriveled, crippled, never-was.

How’s that for straight talk?

31
Peter G. Says:

Of course, someone on Hillary’s campaign could easily reverse the question into:”How do we beat the discredited old fart?”

I didn’t know Crazy Grandpa was still in the race. I thought it was down to Hairdo and Fascist.

33
Catherine Says:

McCain should receive a lot of emails complaining about this! As long as women overlook this sort of disrespect, as long as we make excuses and minimize, we will continue to be disrespected.

The fact that he did not admonish the questioner for the language used tells me all I need to know about how him. Even if in his heart of hearts he thinks Hillary is a bitch, he should have shown more respect and tact in the way he handled this situation. When a man or a woman does not know how to conduct themselves in the name of civility and moderation, they have no business dealing with the heads of other countries while representing our own.

We have a man in the oval office now who acts like he has no respect for anyone who does not agree with him, we don’t need another.

35
Left&Left Says:

The woman who called Sen. Clinton a bitch looked like an extra from the original ” night of the living dead.” As for Sen. McCain, I’m sorry but anyone who spent six years being tortured in the Hanoi Hilton should be declared mentally unfit to lead the free world.

Yeah, you could well be right. But on the flip side, you know damned well that Fox would run with your scenario on the hour.

So, no, this is no big deal, but it’s just getting a little play here, also ’cause it’s kind of silly. Frankly, McCain likely would have scored more points if he had said something like, “Well, I don’t know that we need to resort to name-calling, but how we can beat Mrs. Clinton or another Democratic nominee is a good question.”

All the same, it’s easy to understand that he was with a certain audience and wanted to join along in the joke.

I don’t know what the hell my point was. Back to masturbating.

It’s only disrespectful IF she is not a bitch. Personally I think she is, so for me its a valid question. Just as valid if asking about
McCain: Why is this sad old joke who must have left the best part of his manhood in a North Vietnamese bamboo prison cage even running?
Giuliani: How can we beat that asshole?

What you should be “shocked” at is an aspiring leader of the free world didn’t condemn it.

I guess immature, hateful minds think alike.

I’m SHOCKED!

It’s typical of the impotent, Dick-Head, Rethug Bastards to call a women a bitch.

42
ysbaddaden Says:

Despite Dennis’s obtuseness, this is relevant in just lake week reichwingers were accusing Hillary of playing the gender card. Now they are too in the most debased of terms.

Since independents decide elections anyway, when the Supreme Court doesn’t interfere, this could swing an election. It certainly belies the “value” vote.

As for myself, not being Christian, bitch ain’t particularly dirty, since I worship a bitch goddess.

Supporting language like this against any woman in a public forum for a PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IS NOT EXCUSABLE EVER. Way to go ‘merica!

44
Limp-Dick Blimpaugh Says:

McCain certainly learned to disrespect all women from his mother.

45
Mr. XXXX Says:

John McCain cheated on his first wife and ditched her after she had a near fatal car accident. John McCain is a slimeball from way back and its not been proven that he was actually “tortured” once the North Vietnamese found out his father was an officer in the military. It must also be remembered that McCain massacred many innocent villagers when he was flying those missions before he was shot down. I always have viewed people like McCain and Henry Kissinger and Nixon as war criminals. America still has yet to atone for its war crimes in Vietnam. That is why its so easy for America to continue on its war path with the same war criminal like minds at work. And oh, yes, that McCain has not lost his war crime mind either!

46
Josh Says:

YS, you’re absolutely right.

What WAS that they were saying about her “playing the gender card” when she’d done nothing but avoid her gender in discussion?

Ysbaddaden, I didn’t know that you worshipped me. ;)

hieronymus “the troll” braintree Says:

Making up a phony-baloney scandal called Whitewater offends me. Accusing Sen. Clinton of murdering Vincent Foster offends me. Rick Lazio badgering her sign an agreement w/o giving her a chance to even read it in a manner that suggest she’s behaving dishonestly offends me. Questioning her sincerely because she, in the twisted mind of Chris Matthews, claps too much offends me. Name calling? Doesn’t offend me. And, frankly, I dont’ think Senator Clinton gives a rat’s backside, either.

Zzzzzzz.

How’s this:

How are we going to beat that guido? (Hey this is fun!) How are we going to beat that oreo? how are we going to beat that faggot? How are we going to beat that spic? etc, etc - see, it’s just as much fun to characterize others by race, or appearance as it is by a gender-specific slur.

I bet one of these comments would get a lot more outrage than ‘bitch’. It’s a man’s world……
