John Amato’s virtual online magazine…OK, It’s a blog!

Save Tucker Carlson hilarity

I wasn’t going to post about this, but what the heck. It’s too funny …Apparently, there’s a “Save Tucker” movement trying to flourish and they have a website to prove it. And a three-time Democratic office seeker is helping out…I wonder how long it will take Howard Kurtz to do a feature on it, but I digress. Here’s where the fun begins

MSNBC executives are considering cancelling ‘Tucker’ with Tucker Carlson which airs on MSNBC at 6:00pm EST weekdays. This decision by MSNBC will silence a [bleating, whiny, intensely irritating-ed.] conservative voice, part of a move by MSNBC to swing left and become “FOX for the Liberals,” dropping any pretense of objectivity or balance.

Any guy willing to go on “Dancing with the Stars” and treat guests both left and right with spirited but congenial debate should not be purged in some ideological marketing plan. We respectfully urge NBC to reconsider this decision and save TUCKER!

I think all his problems are essentially illustrated in this pesky little ratings graphic below….

(click pic to make it larger) h/t TV Newser…Anyway, TRex started a new blog and talks more about this…

At least they are admitting that Faux is a reich-wing station.

Please, get rid of Glenn Beck first. Hard to pull the biggest turd from the dungheap, I admit, but I’d still lean toward Glenn Beck. Of course, the biggest turd of all, O’Reilly, we seem to be stuck with.

Dr. Matt Says:

I promise, only heartbreak lies ahead for you. Jon Stewart slashed the tires on Tucker’s career and ever since, ol’ TC has been riding on the rims. If you really care about Tucker, you’ll get him out from behind the wheel, take away his keys, and send him home to sleep it off. Even if you do manage to convince MSNBC to keep him on, which is doubtful, it will only prolong the inevitable. There is no golden comeback era waiting just around the corner for Carlson. That ship, as they say, has sailed.

LOL.

Funny, I came to the computer to say something about Tucker and didn’t want to go OT, now I won’t be going OT

I think I just heard Tucker call Bill and Hillary neo-cons.
He was talking to Lanie Davis about Bill not being against the war when it began, even though Lanie had tons of stuff to prove him wrong. Then it sounded like Tucker said Bill and Hillary are neo-cons.

I think its more about him being unlikable and annoying. This is Cable and entertainment after all. He usually just takes the other side to try to sound smart with no real stance either way.

Tucker Carlson’s unexpected ally
> Posted by Doug Lyons at 10:03 AM

Who would have thought that a former president of the Young Democrats in Broward County would stand up for libertarian/conservative like TV personality Tucker Carlson?

But here he is, Alain Jean (pictured left), an employee with the Broward County Sheriff’s Department and three-time Democratic office seeker for a seat in the Florida Legislature, trying to help Carlson.

Jean doesn’t agree with much of Carlson’s politics, but he’s no fan of the way MSNBC is treating Carlson either. The cable network’s decision to dump Carlson in favor of a more liberal nightly line-up has Jean seeing red, and led to the creation of a cause and a website.

Jean says he’s not turning his back on his principles or politics. Many talk a good game of hating the lack of diversity in media. If nothing else, Jean is trying to do something about it.

Just how does having a Conservative (or even Libertarian, the corporate approved alternative political ideology) contribute to diversity in media? Maybe it’s just about the bowtie.

The really disturbing thing about the ratings image is that “509″ number next to O’Reilly, and how FNC generally beats everyone else hands down in the ratings numbers.

As one of the heirs to the Swanson Food fortune, you’d think Tucker would take his “talent” and start a nonprofit organization for the unfortunate. He is really a sad, pathetic fool. Anyone who ever went away to camp or boarding school knows Tucker Carlson.

Matthews ratings are almost as bad as Tucker’s yet they still keep him on. From what I have heard he has been bashing the Clinton’s nonstop and singing the praises of Rudy. I’m sure Matthews will completely ignore the Guiliani story of his expensing his affair with Judith to the taxpayers of NY.

Water seeks its own level, I guess.

It’s the flipside to the reason why liberal blogs are so much more successful than conservative ones. Conservatives tend to get their news from radio and television. Plus fox is fair and balanced.

i mean no one watches his crappy show, and it wont be long before hes fired. besides, ideology aside, he sucks.

For a more complete ratings analysis of Tuckers subterranean ratings, go here:

Tucker Carlson: A Ratings Black Hole

…not all of the players on MSNBC’s team were pulling their weight. Looking at the schedule from 4:00p to 10:00p, there is an obvious underachiever in the mix […] The two poorest performing programs in the lineup are the ones hosted by Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson. There is something about his presence that, when broadcast, sucks the audience into a space/time continuum and disgorges them from the TV universe. And it isn’t just that he vaporizes viewers, he also has the dubious distinction of declining 9% while the network that employs him is enjoying a ratings revival.

And note that even Tucker’s boss is not exactly supportive.

29
Kim Says:

Do you think Tucker Carlson and Anne Coulter are the same person? Oh wait… Anne has a bigger adam’s apple. Still, this could free him up for more “Anne” time.

30
steve Says:

I find him the least irritating of the con pundits - I mean think about comparing him to Billo or HAnnity or Beck - and that’s why he cannot survive. On some issues (the war) he actually thinks for himself a bit and doesn’t tow the line, and that dooms his chances of having a show - no conservative is ever going to follow him closely enough to watch his show unless he buys in completely.

LOL
It’s really simple to understand when you think about it:
Fox is without a doubt very right leaning, and they are successful because so many drooling television watchers want to be force fed fluff and have others do their thinking for them.
In this regard, Fox is peerless.
Now, all those other channels?
Well, they have been doing their damndest to become “Fox-lite” for years.

Who wants to watch that bullshit?
1. Fox fans don’t want to, they can go to the spigot and get the KKKool-Aid pure and fresh.
2. Anyone with a brain isn’t interested either, because they still know they are being lied to, just in a nicer way than the lie that Fox presents for consumption.

So, only those soft-hearted simpletons who don’t want to actually do the work of reading but want to think of themselves as still being “in the know!” watch the drivel that comes out of CNN etc. ad nauseum.

And everyone else, the vast majority of us, would prefer to not waste our time with Fox 100% bias and lies nor do we want to wade in the MSNBCNNbarforama that is just 80% bias and lies.

Problem solved.

It’s the flipside to the reason why liberal blogs are so much more successful than conservative ones. Conservatives tend to get their news from radio and television. Plus fox is fair and balanced.

This needs a little context. Fox is the only overtly rightist destination for TV viewers, so Fox benefits by aggregating that segment of the audience. The rest of the audience is divided amongst the other conventional news networks.

Remember that the number of Fox viewers is FAR less than the number of non-Fox viewers. Most news watchers are selecting networks other than Fox. And for additional perspective, Bill O’Reilly, the #1 show on Fox, has less than half the viewers of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Just sayin…

It’s pretty simple. With the paranoia of the so-called “liberal media” Conservatives have one network to choose from, FOX. Whereas us normal people have a choice between networks and are smart enough not to watch the propaganda network of FOX. So if you add up the numbers up during BillO’s time slot, normal people ratings 551 to the paranoid wingnuts 509. Giving BillO a little credit, his ratings are a lot closer than all the other time slots.

40
Hype-Jersey Says:

MSNBC for liberals? Don’t you need more than one liberal voice to become a liberal network? That Abrams and Mathews have been known to criticize a very unpopular president doesn’t mean that they are liberal. Must the truth always have a right wing slant for these guys? Okay, that was rhetorical.

43
why not the facts Says:

Putting aside all the posturing including my likes and dislike, the rating chart is truly sobering. The ratings for Fox are across the board much higher than any of its competitors. Surprisingly, Wolf Blitzer wins his timeslot, but otherwise Fox wins hands down. Despite all of his bravado, O’Reilly (who I can’t stand) cleans the floor with Olberman.

Maybe we out to put aside our feelings about the situation and try to arrive at some sort of objective analysis of the situation. Fox is actually succeeding, and the others including CNN have lost the ratings war.

Personally, I think Fox News knows their propaganda. They know what to show the morons who tune in. The morons want to see flashing lights, high tech graphics, and pretty bimbos showing lots of cleavage and wearing short skirts. All Fox News has to do is throw in the the propaganda and they can get those fools to believe anything.

BlueIndependent Says:

I like how this little ghetto tag of a website makes an effort to sound centrist and unbiased. For the life of me I never could figure out how Tucker has managed to keep a show even this long. Hasn’t he had like 5 different shows in as many years, not counting the dance show appearances? I remember when he tried that PBS show ironically called “Unfiltered” mere weeks after Air America started a morning show of the same name. And then of course there was the Hardball grenade JS tossed to both Begala and Carlson. Both have been irrelevant ever since, and some would argue before even. At least Begala seems to have taken the hint. Tucker apparently doesn’t get it.

Regardless, I hope that Tucker will at least grace Maher’s show with his presence so I can see Bill administer a good bow-tie smackdown every few weeks.

As for MSNBC being liberal, man alive I wish there was a drug that cured mental projection. COME. ON. Olbermann a liberal army unto himself? This is obviously one facet of the old “liberal media” charge…that somehow liberals have invaded and subversively conquered every single corner of our society, yet the media is somehow largely war-mongering, petty, thin, vapid and unintelligent…all things any liberal I’ve ever talked to abhors. Is it even remotely possible to have a sane discussion with anyone conservative anymore? The stars would have to be in perfect alignment with hell freezing over simultaneously, methinks.
