Bill O’Reilly: Facts have a far left bias; Iran is still a threat, you libs!

video_wmv Download | Play video_mov Download | Play (h/t Heather for the vids)

Ah…good ol’ Bill O’Reilly. Colbert couldn’t have channeled Papa Bear more perfectly than the way the man himself embraces the truthiness of his Talking Points Memo. For despite the fact that the NIE has contradicted the assertions made by Bush and Cheney, it’s the pesky far left who are the problem for Falafel Boy. After all, we’re so busy being happy that Bush was wrong that we’re ignoring the threat that Iran continues to be with their nuclear enrichment program.

video_wmv Download | Play video_mov Download | Play

And what better “expert” to prove you’re right than to bring on John Bolton, who will happily smear the intelligence agencies and anyone else in the way to continue to assert the neo-cons’ claim that Iran represents a nuclear threat.

can Bush or Billo give any factual reasons for their assertions about Iran? AT ALL? “Because I say so” is not a fact that supports their argument and isn’t good enough for thinking adults.

I mean, look at the Commander In Chimp yesterday:
“Iran is, continues to be, always wuz a threat…”. In what WAY, you chump? Do you have any reason to believe this beyond your uneducated, ill-informed opinion? Please, share!

ted Says:

If the report is accurate, perhaps “shock and awe” did the job there as in Lybia in 2003.

And if the report is inaccurate, we are in danger of relying on it.

And finally, how does it help us vis a vis negotiation with Iran to take the THREAT of military strike off the table — it takes away an important bargaining punch.

The upshot is that release of this report paralizes and weakens us in dealing with Iran — albeit perhaps it does weaken Bush which perhaps is the more important goal here.

I can appreciate that to many, Bush is the far greater enemy than Ahmadenajad.

Unhappily, O’Reilly and Bolton’s take is not much different than Obama’s.
Obama’s first reaction to this report was to say that Iran continues to be a “threat” to
“some” of its neighbors. His evidence for this was that Iran “supports” Hamas and Hezbollah.

Great. The liberals’ dream. Obama: the fresh face with the same old conservative bullshit.

I should also note that the New York Times was also on both sides of the fence today.
“Bush was wrong - but Iran is a danger”. They, as Obama, want to keep playing both sides of the
issue. They’re bound to come out right if they take a firm stand on both sides of an issue involving
war and peace and life and death.

Bush Administration, “Our intelligence community is completely unreliable, except in the cases where we’re able to cherry-pick information to further a policy that we already believe in regardless of the available intelligence, and have all of our claims disproven over time. In those rare circumstances, our intelligence is to be believed at face value. Any time the intelligence community has a different opinion from the one we want them to have, their opinion is to be discredited and their motivations questioned.”

23
Dr. Matt Says:

Ah, yes, the “fair and balanced” O’Racist and Faux has been giving the consistently factually-handicapped Bolton free reign for two days now. Go Figure. Bolton is now claiming that the NIE is anti-dubyah and the NIE is “wrong”. Reich-wing conspiracy theories are better than a cup of coffee.

Great logic there, ted. Only believe intelligence reports if they paint the direst possible picture. If they don’t, then we should act as if they did. You’re a real 29-percenter.

You can thank your boys Dick and Bush for Ahmadenajad. I seem to remember hearing something about Iran offering to help in Afghanistan, and making other offers that got Bolton’s panties in a wad. Anybody who thinks “Schlock and Awww” did anything other than create a giant catastrofuck has watched entirely too much O’Lielly.

You’re right, and I think this is the last straw. I think I just decided on Edwards. He seems to be seeing everything clearly now, since he was out of the game for a little while. Kinda like Al Gore lite, but thinner and with much better hair.

In reich-wing world:

*Even though Iraq didn’t have WMD, couldn’t attack America, didn’t attack America, and did not want to attack America, the Iraq war is “justified”

*Even though Iran doesn’t have WMD, didn’t attack America, and does not want to attack America, we should still fear Iran and consider military action against Iran.

Reich-wingers really are the lowest common-denominator in society.

And they’re probably much smarter and more diplomatic than those two.

Well, if the report is true, than something caused or factored into Iran dropping its military nuke plans in ‘03. Could the Administration get any credit for that?

And, if the report is untrue, why can we just rely on the reports that hamper the Administration, yet not rely on reports which may help the Administration?

46
wild idea Says:

Yes, yes, Ahmadenajad can still breathe,
therefore they have the capability to think, and
therefore they have the potential to develop nuclear weapon in the future,
therefore they have the potential and capability to destroy us in the future,
therefore it is in our right to protect ourselves in the future from such an attack,
therefore we must prevent them from the having the capability to think and develop nucular weapon in the future,
therefore we must attack them now !!!!

Republican - Neanderthal single-issue thinking that gets you results.

Are the Average Joe American, this stupid ?!

O’Reilly holds the USA to no accountability? Has he never studied history or read a book?

He really is a propagandist clown.

48

Bolton was just on AAR with Thom Hartmann. He basically declared that the Bush Admin was the victim of a coup by the Intelligence Agencies, providing false information and jeopardizing National Security just to embarrass President Bush.

But when asked if Bush will fire them or charge them with Treason, Bolton quickly backpedaled.

I don’t think Obama or the NY Times is playing both sides of the issue. The religious hard-liners running Iran are bad guys and they do support terrorists — with money and arms. They just aren’t the threat that Bush would have us believe they are.
