If the report is accurate, perhaps “shock and awe” did the job there as in Lybia in 2003.
And if the report is inaccurate, we are in danger of relying on it.
And finally, how does it help us vis a vis negotiation with Iran to take the THREAT of military strike off the table — it takes away an important bargaining punch.
The upshot is that release of this report paralizes and weakens us in dealing with Iran — albeit perhaps it does weaken Bush which perhaps is the more important goal here.
I can appreciate that to many, Bush is the far greater enemy than Ahmadenajad.

“some” of its neighbors. His evidence for this was that Iran “supports” Hamas and Hezbollah.

I should also note that the New York Times was also on both sides of the fence today.
“Bush was wrong - but Iran is a danger”. They, as Obama, want to keep playing both sides of the
issue. They’re bound to come out right if they take a firm stand on both sides of an issue involving
war and peace and life and death.
Funny how the neo cons don’t harp on the fact that while Iran was agreed to IAEA inspections, Israel, India and Pakistan never have.

Bolton was just on AAR with Thom Hartmann. He basically declared that the Bush Admin was the victim of a coup by the Intelligence Agencies, providing false information and jeopardizing National Security just to embarrass President Bush.
But when asked if Bush will fire them or charge them with Treason, Bolton quickly backpedaled.

I don’t think Obama or the NY Times is playing both sides of the issue. The religious hard-liners running Iran are bad guys and they do support terrorists — with money and arms. They just aren’t the threat that Bush would have us believe they are.
Bolton is good for one thing and one thing only. He’s good at sticking his head up the president’s ass and telling us about the view. Otherwise, he’s a waste of space and time.
