Huckabee: Quarantine AIDS patients in ‘92!

Huckabee’s big lead in Iowa is certainly stirring things up on the GOP side. Looks like Murdock’s gang has their guns pointed at Huckabee. Not that his postion on AIDS is excusable at all.

- Mike Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could “pose a dangerous public health risk.”

When asked about AIDS research in 1992, Huckabee complained that AIDS research received an unfair share of federal dollars when compared to cancer, diabetes and heart disease.read on

Woah, that came from the NY Post?? Isn’t that a right wing propaganda outlet? I’m shocked it wasn’t changed to Hillary or even Ron Paul.

3
McDuff Says:

What a blathering idiot. “Homosexuality could “pose a dangerous public health risk”? Really, Huck?

On second thought, though, in a twisted way, it somehow makes sense, after all Republicans ARE a danger to public health.

4
MS Says:

Hmmm. I would have thought that his enormous girth (at that time) and his obesity would have put a much larger strain on the healthcare industry driving up our individual costs. I don’t suppose people choose to contract HIV. I bet he chose that fried turkey over the chef salad though…

5
Preacher Boob Says:

In Huckabee’s defense, while he did oppose funding for a cure for AIDS, he supported funding for a cure for homosexuality.

Which seems strange, but he secretly thought that once he cured homosexuality, he’d also solve the AIDS problem.

So he’s not such a bad guy. And he prays a lot. To a ‘god’. Who he secretly believes ‘hates’ him. Because he’s so stupid he believes in a ‘god’.

6
CrazyDrumGuy Says:

Glad to see you covering this. I had sent an email to the new blog round-up person because I couldn’t believe this wasn’t here.

7
Preacher Boob Says:

What really pissed Hucklebee was that he saw all these ‘homos’ getting Federal money to cure their AIDS, while he had lost his mind and nobody would give him a nickel to help him find it.

8
StCyrlyMe Says:

Does this surprise anyone?

Welcome to the big leagues Mike. In the inevitable cleaning out of Huckabee’s closet, there are more than a few skeletons that would likely impede his candidacy, this is justs one of them.

excerpt from Why I Quit HIV

by Rebecca V. Culshaw
http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig7/culshaw1.html

“…My work as a mathematical biologist has been built in large part on the paradigm that HIV causes AIDS, and I have since come to realize that there is good evidence that the entire basis for this theory is wrong. AIDS, it seems, is not a disease so much as a sociopolitical construct that few people understand and even fewer question. The issue of causation, in particular, has become beyond question – even to bring it up is deemed irresponsible…”

I am sincerely afraid of EVERY SINGLE Republican candidate running for President!
They are ALL insane!

Not one of them is fit for public office - how any of them got this far is unbelievable.
The corruption (Guliani), the lying (Romney), the crazy policies based on their extreme religious beliefs…

Don’t let ANY of these guys win - they will make the disasters of “W” even worse!

14
Preacher Boob Says:

You know, Hucklebee had the germ of a good idea.

What if we quarantined all republicans?

Of course, to sell the idea, we should propose to quarantine all non-republicans, leaving the republicans ‘free’ to roam the internment camps that Halliburton is unknowingly building for them.

Can’t wait for the ‘08 election.

Bush/Cheney/NeoConZionist Impeachment, republican internment, a ‘free’ Irag (costing us nothing), getting some love from the world again, (except for those spiteful Tel Avivians), a dollar that’s worth a full one-hundred pennies, a president who can speak English, a populace that doesn’t have to learn Yiddish, kids who can spell ’school’, cars that run on pee and crab grass, oil imported only for mixed massages, ‘Sex for Fun’ instead of ‘Abstinence Only’, health for all, education for all, opportunity to piss on republicans for all, priests, ministers, reverends, preachers who aren’t interned, strictly prohibited from sex with anyone under the age of consent (except each other).

Paradise reborn.

17
Preacher Boob Says:

Oh, and priests, ministers, reverends, preachers made to STFU outside the confines of their ‘places of ‘worship”, and never, ever, ever attempt to impose their whacko figmental ideas on anyone who doesn’t want to hear it, and never, ever, ever to pompously, piously pontificate on matters of governance or politics (except internal ‘church’ governance and politics, which should keep them plenty busy).

These remarks by Huckabee were made 15 years ago.
What is his present view?
As to AIDS being a ‘dangerous public health risk’, it is.
I’ve been working in an HIV-AIDS clinic for over five years as a volunteer; and I’ve made a lot of friends there during this time.
We would agree, to a certain extent, that AIDS is a dangerous public health risk.
The problem with Huchabee’s statement is that quarantine and isolation of the victims is not a proper answer to the problem.
There are other areas of Huckabee’s policies that worry me much more than this one.

This whole “AIDS” thing is bogus. Go to the library and read Peter Duesberg’s book, “Inventing the AIDS Virus.” Go go to my website, www.bottlebrushpress.com, click on personal links and go to medical and read a few short essays on the subject. It all began back in the 1980s when some doctors at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) could not figure out why seemingly healthy young gay men were coming down with diseases typically associated with elderly junkies… Unfortunately, the doctors were too squeamish to ask the gay men about their sexual practices, and the drugs they took to facilitate said, and so, instead, their used their new scanning microscopes and discovered a tiny retrovirus, which they called HIV and then they went on to claim that said virus “caused” some two dozen traditional diseases associated with weakened immune systems.

This is the biggest medical fraud in history. Billions of dollars have been wasted and hardly anyone in the medical/corporate/government complex wants to admit it…

And the leaders of the African countries realized that if many of their traditional tropical diseases could be put under the “AIDS umbrella” that they could then get billions of dollars in aid from European countries and America. Pretty smart, huh?

Cheers.

Don’t you wish Dorsey and Mae Huckabee had let little Mikey have a puppy when he was a tad? And not beat him every time he wet the bed? And told him he was smart instead of stupid?
And let him go to school with the other kids? And let him know the bible wasn’t the only book? And lived someplace besides Arkansas?

I think it’s remarkable that none of the Republican candidates have mentioned the fact that he pushed for the release of a serial rapist who went on to rape and kill at least twice more over pandering to the Clinton haters. THAT is the real scandal IMO. None of these people are above throwing dirt or doing push polling and other Rovian dirty tricks so why hasn’t Romney come out on this? Or Giuliani? Could it be because the story was broken by the Huffingtone Post, a *sniff* liberal organization? Either way, they are going to have to bring it up soon. They can’t afford not to try everything. The repug candidates bring it up and it finally gets attention in the traditional media and bye-bye cHuckabee. They need to shoot this idiot down soon. I want to face Giuliani in the general. We don’t want them to run a candidate who will rally the xenophobes and xtians, we want them to run a candidate that will divide them.

The reason why the New York Post reported on this is because they want Giulianni to be the nominee. Giulianni has their support because he is 100 percent garunteed to use nuclear weapons against at least Iran, and probably Syria too.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Giulianni uses nuclear weapons on the Palestinian settlements in Gaza and the West Bank. The big money Jewish neocons know it, and they love Giulianni for it.

Obviously, you’ve never watched a perfectly healthy young person, who does not use drugs, or engage in “odd” sexual behaviour, wither and wilt, very slowly at first and then with increased rapidity, until the finally expire, before your very own eyes. Until then, take your f*cking essays and shove them up your g*ddamned ass.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise. Thanks to republicans like Bush, and Giulianni, the USA will now fight all the wars Israel wants and instead of Jews dying, Americans will die instead and that doesn’t matter to them a single bit.

The first part of your post can be easily dismissed as BS. The second and third paragraphs may have some merit. If you have some evidence to post, go ahead. I’d be interested in seeing how African countries are taking advantage of this and how big pharma is capitalizing as well.

HIV is a virus that attacks the body’s defenses. The body becomes so weak that it is prone to diseases. At which point the person is said to have AIDS, Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.

Who cares if the poster boy for Aids is a little 12 year old boy named Ryan. And yes, his remarks came 2 years after Ryan died and the stigma of Aids was no longer just homosexuals and drug users.
