The evidence has been overwhelming for quite a while that, when it comes to climate-change science, the Bush administration prefers restrictions to revelations.
Just two months ago, for example, Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was set to testify on the impact of climate change on public health, but the White House intervened, “eviscerated” her testimony, and directed Gerberding to discuss the public-health “benefits” of global warming. It seemed to be part of a trend — the Bush gang has asked an oil lobbyist to re-write government reports on global warming, and muzzled NASA and NOAA officials when their reports were politically inconvenient.
Of course, it looked like part of a trend because it was part of a trend.
For the past 16 months, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has been investigating allegations of political interference with government climate change science under the Bush Administration. During the course of this investigation, the Committee obtained over 27,000 pages of documents from the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) and the Commerce Department, held two investigative hearings, and deposed or interviewed key officials. Much of the information made available to the Committee has never been publicly disclosed.
This report presents the findings of the Committee’s investigation. The evidence before the Committee leads to one inescapable conclusion: the Bush Administration has engaged in a systematic effort to manipulate climate change science and mislead policymakers and the public about the dangers of global warming.
This might help explain why some Republican presidential candidates are so confused.

The administration’s ‘War on Law’ is coming along pretty good, too.
Bush granted a bunch of pardons, but skipped Scooter.
He did grant pardons to Cheney, Rice, Gonzales, Mukasey, Feith, Bolton(s), Perino, Wolfowitz, Perle, Gingrich, DeLay, Hastert, and a bunch of miscellaneous NeoCon Zionists.
Bush made a ‘Signing Statement’ that these were ‘Anticipatory Pardons’, for ‘Those on the list who have nor yet been convicted of a crime’.
By ‘god’, he does think ahead! (Although some folks see the sneaky hand of DickHead in this deal)
Oh…and the definitive source

Look at your names and comments, left wing commie kooks? You got it!
Later you red diaper doper babies.
The reason some folks suspect DickHead of actually authoring the pardon package, is that, as you may have noticed, Rove was not on the list.
I guess they never heard of Lysenko.
Luddites rule! (until January 2009)

Wow….he debunked global warming. Whew!
common sense @ 5:
Now that’s what I call adding to the conversation. I’m not sure what was added but I guess something was.
Anyway, this administration has put so much effort into hiding all sorts of truths. Imagine what they could have done with that energy if they had applied it to something worthwhile.
War on Gravity? War on Electromagnetism? War on the Strong and Weak Nuclear Force! All secular moonbat liberal conspiracies I tell you!
There are many benefits to global warming.
You can take a bath wherever you may be, thus making for a cleaner society. The Brits love it, ’cause everyone will be drinking warm beer. Dogs love it, they don’t have to hold it until they find a hydrant. All those dupes who bought Florida swampland will now be able to water ski, or deep-sea fish, on their property. Dock-builders in Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico will find business is booming. Deep-sea divers will have a ball, diving for treasure in Bank of America branches all over SoCal. Trump Tower investors will be able to leap out of their windows without fearing the dreaded ‘Pavement Splat’.
All in all, good times are a-comin’. The great flood will take folks’ minds off the bushies, except when they encounter one out for a swim, and drown them.
I saw a show on History Channel about the United States in the 1940’s and the codebreakers. How the US helped break the Russian code and Japanese codes. It was very exciting to know that the US at one time did have intelligent people working for us.
Every day you see where the Chinese even, have broken into our data bases, the NASA programs and the US is powerless to stop them. And you say “Where in the hell have all the scientists gone”. And you remember that starting with Nixon every republican president we have had has cut every single program that has any thing to do with science. NOW DO YOU KNOW WHY…I don’t. Are they deliberating dumbing down this country and why.
This ‘Science’ stuff is a bunch of crap.
Everyone laughs at Huckabee because he says there’s ‘No Such Thing’ as evolution.
But he has himself, he’s living proof, that evolution doesn’t exist.
Of course this administration is opposed to facts and to data, both of which are liberal.
Every once in a while, in a fake nod to ‘fairness’, Bush says that ‘We ought to consider both sides’.
But then he goes ahead and just considers ‘his’ side, and ignores reality and sanity.
Can you even believe that we have a repub presidential candidate who does not believe in evolution and doubts if not denies global warming? This is frightening to me. Even to see people here in this country say such a thing is like something you would see in a B movie.
Is stupid the new charismatic feature Americans are looking for?

I keep forgetting… WHY are bush and his accomplices not in prison again?
If you ever question your conviction that there is no ‘All-Powerfull, All-Knowing’ ‘God’. consider this:
‘He’ talks to Bush.
‘He’s’ gotta be a doofuss.
pretty soon up will be down, left will be right, red will be green, and democrats will be republicans
Just imagine a debate between Huck and Hillary or Obama or Edwards. It would be fun to watch as they take him to the mat on every issue. My dream debate would be Huck and Al Gore. Al would take the wind out of Huck’s sails and then he would sink his entire boat.
pissed off patricia @ 16:
The ‘disconnect’ is not in your belief system.
It’s in Huckabee’s brain stem.
What you see as catastrophic global warming, they see as a cathartic armageddon. For the God Squad, it’s all good.
We have some friends who are all about the environment, very educated, not actively religious and they are Republicans. I asked them last night if they had decided who they will vote for. With no hesitation they said, Huckabee.
Go fu*king figure.
common sense @ 5:
“Later?”
What, your vocabulary too small to include, “Never?”
Just out of curiosity, what the hell is a “red diaper doper baby” I don’t know if I’m one or not until I know what it is.

I think that is a baby in a red diaper smoking a joint. Very prevelent in some parts of Antartica i hear.
No, wait. It’s Communist Infants with the munchies.

Their decision is almost as poor as your choice in ‘friends’. They may be acquaintances, but they are certainly not ‘educated’, in the sense of ‘having knowledge’. Keep them around to study, as one would peruse a dissected, mutated frog.
Preacher Boob @ 13:
On the contrary Preacher Man, he proves that there are multiple branches that evolutionary variables may take.
It would seem to me that Huckleberries DNA Pod may have branched off sooner than the rest of us.
Hooray for climate change!! While it may be a slight inconvenience to the majority of the world’s population who live near water, it will finally free the Bolivian Navy from it’s landlockedness!
Viva!
I’m not a communist but I do remember the dope smoking/munchies dayz. Been there, done that, and have the memories to remind me I don’t care to go back.
pissed off patricia @ 16:
It’s a Republican fashion statement.
Preacher Boob @ 29:
What’s so strange is we get along with them so well and have fun with them. On just about every subject we can agree, except politics. I don’t know if they are closet Democrats or what. They both come from very old and very wealthy republican families and some times I wonder if they are trying to carry on a tradition rather than vote their true feelings.

IN ORDER TO BECOME A THEOCRACY, the leaders of a country must dumb down the educated and keep the non-educated from becoming educated.
TO BE A BULLY, the country must build and an industrial-military complex that has better weapons than those available to every other country. The leaders do this by diverting funds from the social safety net and education(dumbthepeopledown) and health care for as many citizens as practical (you still need low wage workers) so if millions die for lack of affordable medical care - who cares, they are a disposable commodity. The fewer citizens there are the less the chance of a social revolt and the easier it is to control the population.
TO CONTROL THE POPULATION, the leaders will use fear and superstition (FEAR) kill them NOW because they are planning at some time in the future to kill us. (SUPERSTITION) known in some circles as RELIGION! Do everything by the religious rules now in order to have a great life after you DIE! or as Edward Gibbon puts it; Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. .
The plan for tearing down the democracy is ever evolving (if Idare to use that term)
Perhaps, or maybe the problem is that his family tree doesn’t branch.
the rapture bunnies would rather their kids have an imaginary friend than an engineering degree

Great idea!
Seriously. As long as long as Congress is playing bullsh*t games, let’s get the anti-science neanderthals on record.
Thinking about science gives Georgie a headache, as having to actually read and assimilate facts requires an attention span of more than 3 minutes. But I take heart in the fact that God communicates directly to GWB (I guess through an earpiece), so I’m sure He’s ’splained everything to him. We don’t have to worry about any kind of science problems, or global warming, or laws, or facts, or nothin’. It’s all taken care of.
I’m thinking Huckabee also has one of those magic earpieces. If he gets elected to succeed Bush, then we’ll have no worries at all - except deciding on our fashion statement —- what fashionable oufit and accessories to wear as we get ready for the Rapture!!
common sense @ 5:
of course you have to be over 80 to consider being a “commie” am insult.
and it has Dumbya’s Fascism beat any day.
Can u spell Banana Republic ?
I just love it that Dan Abrams calls the “signing statements” what they are King-ly Decrees.
Its a presidential Decree, which is what Monarchs use to legislate from the throne.
I’m still not sold on the man-made global warming argument. I feel that the evidence of natural climate cycles and the sun emitting more energy tends to be the stronger argument, from the evidence I’ve seen.
Im totally for cutting pollution regardless, but far too many people have turned this into some sort of religion where Al-Gore is a prophet who cant be questioned. I don’t trust Al Gore one bit.
I think it’s dangerous where this global warming religion and supposed crisis is leading, and I think it’s fairly obvious what Gores been assigned to do, and it’s not going to end well for any of us.
