Mike Gravel Still In The Race, Demands Apology From Olbermann

Gravel2008:

Once again, the Mainstream Media has not gotten the facts straight.

MSNBC pundit Keith Olbermann has incorrectly declared that Sen. Gravel has dropped out of the race following the January third caucus in Iowa. This is not true, and Sen. Gravel is still an active member in this race. We are requesting that MSNBC and Keith Olbermann retract their statement, and issue an apology to the campaign for promoting blatantly false misinformation.

Whoops! No disrespect to Mike Gravel, but I can't help but think of this very classic scene.

Hey Mr Gravel: NOBODY GIVES A SHIT WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY! OK?! In the words of your buddy, GO FUCK YOURSELF!

Easy Gravel! Unlike most, he has been able "to stand corrected" and many times will do so to himself.

Mike Gravel should also apologies for entering the race in the first place.

Keith Olbermann is one of the few people in the media who, I expect, would and will likely go on his show and unselfconsciously deliver the apology Mike Gravel asked for. Keith appears to be a stand-up guy who really does consider the facts to be at least as important as the "emotional narrative".

Mike if it makes you feel any better, no one knows you're running to begin with.

RW @ 1:

WHAT are you talking about?

Gravel who?

For somebody that "nobody knows is running", he did surprisingly well in the Digg popularity contest. I realize that's not going to win an election for him, but it is indicative that there's got to be SOME people out there who know who he is.

calm down asshole...

lmao. jeeez.

gravel > any of the dems running anyway

too bad his sensical ideas are completely ignored. you know...staying out of war and restoring rights. of course these things are considered crazy today, of course.

smh.

Keith--Apologize.

Mike-- go up to Alaska and help your people keep some of the tax revenues away from those other gravy slurping Alaskan politicians. Tend your own garden first.

Good one, Nicole! Now who's gonna go make sure he's dead?!?

I knew before clicking that that had to be a Holy Grail clip; the only question was which one.

As for Gravel v. KO: I could declare my intent to seek the nomination tomorrow and by tomorrow I'd have had as much impact on this race as Gravel's had. You can't drop out of a race you were never in. Gravel didn't even qualify for the race. He probably couldn't even get in to the stadium with a ticket. Gravel has a point, but it's not the point he thinks he has.

That clip was ROFLMAO funny. I've got to go rent that movie.

"Bring out your dead"

Hey now...

IF they let him in the debates, with fewer candidates he can make a lot more very good points, and keep Obama and Edwards on point.

Gravel does have the most interesting campaign commercials tho

Olbermann can add 'psychic extraordinaire' to his resume in a few days once Gravel drops out.

Yeah, I think the apology is in line. It was a mistake. Do it. Then let's watch his (dead campaign) sink further. Entertainment.

Well said. Regarding Spud's comment at #10, perhaps Mr. Spud does not seem to realize that Mike Gravel is no longer a senator from Alaska, which means that he is therefore in no position to help "his people."

I wonder what dead we'll be bringing out next week - Thompson, Richardson . . ?

I'm going to be glued to Olbermann tonight just to see if he apologizes. I bet he will.

As stated above, Keith seems to be a stand up kinda guy. I'm sure he'll issue an apology if needed.

I'm not dead...I'm not dead!!! Only my campaign is dead!!

LOL!

who the hell is mike gravel?

Gravel is not trying to become president; he is simply trying to disseminate his (unpopular) ideas as much as possible. I, for one, am glad that he keeps groping for the spotlight since he is, arguably, the most entertaining.

The longer Gravel stays in the race, the better.

Mikes always been fiesty. He's a real fighter. A real warrior. He went after Nixon, tried to end the draft during Vietnam, broke the pentagon papers into the public.

The Dems don't want him to be heard. You can bet on that. I'm surprised MSNBC tried to "finish him off".

But you know how the Corps are.

There are a few things Olbermann should apologize for, but this is not one of them. How can Gravel drop out of the race if he was never really in it to begin with?

WaPo still shows him as "in," although on the Republican side they still show Alan Keyes, too.

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2008-presidential-candidates/

I'm sure Keith with deal with this faux pas as only Keith can. LOL

Jeez Keith this guy had the Presidency all locked up before you had to go and ruin everything for him. ;)

Whatever-apologize to the poor sap.

He was never in it in the sense that the corporations and their fawning elite's both left and right don't want to touch him.

Campaigns are all just for show anymore anyway these days. The whole system is corrupt to the core.

Mike Gravel say, "I'm feeling betta"

Maybe Kieth meant that Gravel wasn't actively running. Kind of like Rudy didn't actively run in Iowa. However if that isn't the case I would bet big bucks that Keith will correct himself on his show.

For anyone who might not know, the movie that clip was taken from is "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". It is pants wetting funny.

Gravel actually has some good notions about Democracy-it's too bad about the whole "system is corrupt" thing, which naturally must include the worthless sorry excuse of a media.

Intelligently expressed. The last thing that Gravel's colleagues and the so-called experts in the media wish to acknowledge is someone who keeps the other candidates honest and brings up ideas and opinions that are rarely heard on the campaign trail. Obama scoffed when Gravel chided him during one of the early debates for his refusal to take off the nuclear option against Iran, even though Obama could not deny that it would be impossible to win the hearts and minds of the Iranian people by bombing the hell out of them. Obama is also against the immediate withdrawal of the troops from that slaughterhouse in Iraq. Yet Obama proclaims that he is the candidate of hope. That kind of hope the Iranians and the troops can do without.

It's "GRA-vel."

Not "gra-VELLE."

If true, KO will do the right thing. Maybe he could make up for that error by inviting Gravel onto Countdown and interviewing him. Would be a good gesture, being that the rest of the MSM has been doing it's level best to deny Gravel, Kucinich and Dodd any voice whatsoever since the very beginning. Looks like Ron Paul is included in that ostracism now, too (if FOX won't let an uber-conservative on their propganda network, must mean they think his ideas are pretty dangerous).

Mike Gravel is ignored because he speaks the truth. He has exposed all the other candidates hypocrisies and lies. Yes, he is a bit kooky and so is Kucinich. Being kooky doesn't mean one is stupid.

Well, the clip is more appropos for what could happen to me and millions of other Americans - not mention people around the globe of all nationalities -- if we end up with Obama, Edwards, or Clinton in office.

Just like Bill CLinton, Repug-LITE! (with fewer public gaffes and all the bad aftertaste!)

Look we can either use this to produce something really new, something like actual political discussion that might help our kids. Or we can just take cheap shots and help the MSM grow its marketshare.

Is it really Gravel who's dead, or is it our Political process? Do we really not have any choices anymore?

I'm still hoping for the Gravel-Ron Paul-Allen Keyes debate,
moderated by Ann Coulter and Michael Moore.

The reason you haven't heard that is because the ones who are saying it or want to say it aren't given the chance to say it at a level that reaches the mass public.

KO will do the right thing. One has to draw the line somewhere about all the people running for President, so Gravel has had his 15 minutes and America responded with a 'who?'

I agree, but...
Where are Olbermann's comments on http://wexlerwantshearings.com/ (now at 179650)? (same place as MSM's story on the subject.) On the other hand, it's easy to find out what he thinks about Britney Spears or Paris Hilton.

Your point is well made. I had written to Olbermann a few times in the past, beseeching him to have on more anti-war activists on his show, [people such as Amy Goodman, Howard Zinn, Anthony Arnove, Cindy Sheehan, Kevin Zeese, John Pilger, Brian Eno, Ron Kovic, Camilo Mejia, Kevin Benderman, Richard Falk, Dahr Jamail, Nir Rosen, et al], something that he rarely does. Apparently my efforts fell upon deaf ears, since my attempts to email his program were blocked out. So much for this quasi liberal icon being open to suggestions from his viewers.

lonnie beak oud @ 38:

You're wrong. His name is pronounced "gra-VELLE" while the word referring to little rocks is pronounced "GRA-vel." Gravel was banned from so many debates, his name -- and its pronunciation -- remains unknown to most Americans.

Gotta love a presidential candidate who has the gonads to actually speak his mind and tell us the truth for a change. But the media -- and most of the other Democratic candidates -- don't like that very much, so they put duct tape across his mouth.

I think Mike Gravel would be a good VP candidate, with John Edwards.Edwards/Gravel in 08.

I don't think it's so much disrespect towards his positions than it is laughing at Gravel's inability to read what's written large on the wall: It's over!

But I think phantom is on to Gravel's motivations, even if I don't agree that Gravel should remain in the race. Gravel had his brief moment in the race, right at the starting gun, and his message didn't resonate. Hopefully others will pick up some of his messages and run with them, giving them a chance(but not that flat tax meme, thank you). Gravel, though, has come up lame.
