Mike's Blog Roundup
By Mike Finnigan Saturday Feb 02, 2008 10:00amskippy wrote to remind me that today is Blogroll Amnesty Day. A day MBRU celebrates the year round.
Seeing the Forest: Hillary and Obama. Robert Parry has more...
The Carpetbagger Report: Lieberman shill imagines burying the "angry left."
The Opinion Mill: Sunday Bookchat. How Martin Amis lost his marbles! How the South won the Civil War, and more!
Balloon Juice: Liberal terrorist hippies on the loose...
distributorcap NY: Can't buy me love...
Daily Howler: Cheers for C&L's John "Damato"

Thanks Mike, for all you and C&L do for the small blogs. You guys are the best A-listers there are.
For Blogroll Amnesty Day, smaller blogs are linking to those who have less traffic than they do, each with a little mini "Mike's Blog Roundup" of their own. That's a tribute to the wonderful job C&L does daily to spread the love.
Folks can keep track of participants in the B.A.D. party using either
Technorati
or Google blog search.
And I vlogged about it a bit last Monday.
Thanks again, Mike. xoxo
I can't stand balloon juice. I wanted to know what the story was, but I cringed at the thought of clicking on the link.
Re: Benen's post on Gerstein/Lieberman
If Gerstein's comments aren't purposeful lies, I'm Jesus Christ.
Hats off to C&L for having the guts to link to that "Balloon Juice" piece.

Sure, these people out on the fringe are entitled to their "free speech," while the rest of us on the sane side of the line are free to wonder what on earth they actually hope to accomplish by it.
Why do you link to a wing-nut site like Ballon Juice?
And who's this John Damato guy? Sounds like some one trying to get some attention by using a name similar to C&Ls John Amato. I think there's a law against that. Take him to court John! :-)

Mine's for sale.
Terrible @ 5:
Yeah, flush that John.
Don't miss the distributorcapNY link while you're distracted by Balloon Juice.
distributor's post is amazing as it is tragic.
Who is this John Damato guy and does anyone know his website? Sounds like a smart guy, and must be important to be on KO's show.
Terrible @ 5:
Balloon Juice is not a wing-nut site, Pajamas Media notwithstanding. It was, at one time, just right of center. Post-apology (early '05, when Cole began his public penance after voting for Stupor Mundi a second time), that site crossed the river and entrenched on the left bank. Mind you, sometimes the river rises and floods the camp...Just sayin'...
And the commenters on the left have always out-numbered those on the right.
And Daily Howler doesn't like Rachel Maddow? *turns to angry torch-wielding mob* GET 'EM!!!! lol
From the Balloon Juice article:
"In case you missed it, three morons chained themselves to the Marine Corps recruiting station in Berkeley, and our liberal media and the liberals in the blogosphere are silent in the face of this grave threat to our nation:"
Blocking the entrance to a Marine Corps recruiting station is a grave threat? What the hell are those people at Balloon Juice smoking? These right wingers are acting like the protesters were giving out U.S. nuclear launch codes to some foreign nation or something.
I was in the Marine Corps and I can say that most people that go into a Marine Corps recruiting station have pretty much made up their minds already and no loud speakers or people standing in the way is really going to change their minds. At least, in my case none of that would have changed anything. Besides, I don't think those protesters were targeting the potential recruits. They are and were making a statement against the Government itself and from the reaction at Balloon Juice, it was a very effective one. Odd isn't it? The protesters will chain themselves to the doors of a Marine Corps recruiting station to prevent their presence while right wingers won't even get with in a hundred yards of a recruiting station to sign up and fight for a corrupt Government that they support.
bluegal @ 1:
Just watched your vlog, and I've got to point out that no one ever reined in Coleman Young. Too bad, too, because the current Mayor of Detroit thought that it was the office itself that provided cover from scandal, when, in fact, Young was an artful dodger, while Kwame is a lead-footed putz.
Thanks for the feedback and info, Andy. - BG
The 'net' effect of Blogroll Amnesty Day, where everyone happily links to everyone, and all get together at dawn each day to post the lyrics to Kumbaya on each other's sites, should be that all blogs eventually combine.
Just think, someday, instead of having an impossibly long bookmark file, we'll just have ONE BOOKMARK, for the only extant Blog, which will be, I presume, logically named 'ONE BLOG'.
All the previous Blog 'Owners' will become ONE BLOG posters. Perhaps previous owners will arrange 'royalty' fees, or per/word compensation for their posts, and have their post signatures highlighted in some way, perhaps ALL CAPS, to distinguish them from the run-of-the-mill, 'common', posters.
It'll be fun to observe the negotiations among the previous Blog Owners to determine the management structure of ONE BLOG, and all we 'common' posters look forward, eagerly, to that.
"Howler Hates Maddow"
oh well, I dig her.
President Bush announced today that 'We have 'won' the war in Berkeley, and are therefore withdrawing our Marine Force from the front lines there, and reassigning them to Afghanistan, where their expertise in subduing 'LiberalDemocraticFascists' will be welcomed by President Karzai'.
Obama is seeing the forest, while Hillary is still beating her head against one tree, the tree she fondly calls 'Bill'.
And talk about a snub!
Obama only clapped politely, with one hand, when 'Bill' was felled, even though Obama didn't see it.
Preacher Boob @ 15:
When you blog every day for three years, correspond with over 80 brilliant and amazing bloggers on a regular basis, and the blogosphere fundraises to buy you a new laptop? come back and tell me that again, Preacher. Not starting a flame war here but you're just plain wrong.
I'm sure John D'Mato has enough of the storied Italian quality of forgiveness to overlook the Howlers obvious typo.
But just in case, the Howler should heavily tape the windows on their storefront office.
You say Da-may-to, I say Da-mah-to...
Let's call the whole thing off.
bluegal @ 19:
I know you'll think I'm just being falsely modest, but I've been wrong before, expect to be again, and may have been here. Although my intent was just a bit of fanciful humor.
Why is anyone, or anything, associated with Lieberman still considered relevant?
Can't we just consign him and his to the 'History' file?
ExxonMobile's profit last year, equivalent to 4.06 TRILLION pennies, would be enough, if added to Leezzaa's annual shoe budget of 1 TRILLION pennies, be enough to outbid Bill Gates for ownership of Yahoo.
Kinda puts things in perspective.

I heard Google has reported less hits last year.
Weren't they involved with spying on their customers for the guv?
thanks for supporting the smaller blogs, mike. you and john and nicole have led the forefront of a-list blogs in generous linkage (i won't even mention the other big blog i wrote to about b.a.d., who didn't even bother to write back).
thanks for the shout out, but more importantly, thanks for your continuous gracious generosity in helping other voices be heard thru-out blogtopia.
and yes, i coined that phrase!
ysbaddaden @ 25:
That's why I depend on Google, and make the derogatory comments about The Dummy and his cabal in all my posts. I like to keep my communication lines with the NSA and DHS open, so I can tell them directly what criminal assholes they are
Preacher Boob @ 23:
Holy Joe will remain relevant at least through Election Day, at which point, assuming the Dems increase their Senate majority, he will be kicked to the curb.
His best hope is that McCain proves he's stupid as well as insane and taps Loserman as his running mate. Otherwise, he's looking at four long years as a political nonentity with little to do beyond polishing his legacy as a historical footnote.
Regarding the comments at the Carpetbagger Report on Gerstein's article - I view his Gerstein's comments as wishful thinking. I also think he is simply trying to make his ridiculous comments true by projection of outright lies of course.
Just one more instance of RePIG-licans making their "own reality".

Why are we comparing Obama to JFK when we ought to be creating new heroes in a time in which we need them now more than in 1960?
That DistributorCapNY post rules. Scares the fuck out of me, but still rules,...
Sometimes I despair for some of our readers. To be sooo set in one's thinking that to even click a link that might challenge one's own thinking is to be frightened on some gut level. Contempt prior to investigation is where ignorance gets a foothold. Balloon Juice is not a right wing site. Perhaps it once was but, thanks to George W, Bush and his minions, there has been a profound change in thinking over there.
What Blue Gal said.
MBR at C&L does indeed celebrate Blogroll Amnesty Day every day, it's much appreciated, and you're well entitled to take a great deal of pride in it.
Mickey Finn @ 32: Even vile hackdom sometimes provokes a good discussion, and Balloon Juice has written some great stuff over the past year or so. John Cole wrote some of the best posts on the right-wing attacks against Graham Frost and his family, for just one example.
