McCain Silent on Foreclosure Crisis
By bluegal Wednesday Feb 27, 2008 8:00pm
McCain's website promises "bold solutions" (like maybe printing up more of the hundred dollar bills shown for his promised tax cuts) but he's not bold enough to mention either the banking crisis or the rapidly deteriorating housing market. Tom Sizemore at the AFL-CIO Blog:
It is hard to believe that a presidential candidate would come to Ohio without a plan to address the home foreclosure crisis that is devastating working families. Ohio had over 153,000 foreclosure filings in 2007, this is only one more example of how out of touch Senator McCain is with main street America. ...A McCain presidency would be nothing more than a third term for George W. Bush.

Who's going to be McCains brain?
He doesn't understand economics.
McCain would be the same as a third Boosh term.Too True.
It's sad really,........to watch someone so out of touch, just stumble forward into the abyss.
He should of went after boosh in 2000.
Diebold is the solution he needs.
Is this site becoming bash McCain and Hillary site. And kiss obama's butt.
[Marge, you are welcome to leave at anytime. No one, to my knowledge, forces you to visit and post here. And if someone IS forcing you to visit and post here, let us know. We'll call the cops and get you freed-Sitemonitor]
And just like Obama, when he hears a plan he likes, he'll "borrow the words" and then when he is called on - if he is called on his taking the plan of someone else - He'll say they're "just words"
These people are all crooks and liars.
I don't know who is pulling the strings, but it sure sounds like a bush-rove-atwater kind of thing.

I hope to HOLY TAPDANCING CHRIST McCain get's the Repuke nom so we can see him lose to Obama in THE BIGGEST FUCKING LANDSLIDE IN AMERICAN HISTORY!!!
That's because mcINSANE is too clueless to understand that spending BILLIONS in iraq DOES affect what the hell happens home... its all tied in together.
After hearing bush embarrass himself and his country today on the economy you would think anyone else would sound smarter ... Think Again.
Save America, throw the Republicans out.
But don't you understand?
$300 tax rebates will fix the economy!

it's gonna be a slaughter-fest.....
There was a show on Britain's Channel 4 - Dispatches: How the Banks Bet Your Money in which the sub prime debacle was covered in depth. Seems British banks also bought some of the mortgage backed securities.
Anyhow, when the program was concluding, it said there is also a looming problem with Credit Default Swaps (CDS). The show said that a possible $750B hit on the economy is possible. I believe the sub-prime hit is about $500B? The sub-prime matter hasn't finished playing out yet, and possibly, there is more problems in the pipeline. If so, I don't think anyone has an answer yet. Bernanke and the Fed seem to be panicking like there is something after the sub-prime mess - it may be something to do with these Credit Default Swaps. According to the Channel 4 show, the amount of Credit Default Swaps outstanding was in the order of 3 times annual U.S. GDP. Might want to keep a keen ear out for anything to do with these CDSs.
The guy knows two thing..."War"...and "Fear".....and given his age, he likely doesn't give a sheet about my three old son's future.
Marge @ 5:
You now what, FUCK YOU, that's right you ignorant asshole. McCain is a goddamm slobbering fucking lunatic while Hillary is a corporatist who DOESN'T GIVE A FUCKING SHIT about the American public and NEITHER will make this country better. I don't have any delusions that Obama will part the sea's and for all I know he might be a lying piece of shit but just compare his background to those two slimey cocksuckers and I'll take Obama ANY.FUCKING.DAY.OF.THE.WEEK!!!
And as for Chimps "free money scam" that will likely be taxed in 2009..It's like giving a bum a handout and telling them to leave me alone now....
The whole financial system has imploded.
'Bold Solutions'- or 'BS' for short
McCrazy has sucked off of the Government teet ALL OF HIS LIFE for things like housing, medical care, and salary. Of course, abandoning his first wife for a more wealthy one hasn't hurt him either.
The man is out of touch with the workings of actual people.
fwffavvg @ 15:

I'm actually in a very good mood, it's just that, unlike the FUCKING MEDIA, I will call out these Corporatist Fucks for they're BULLSHIT!
here's an interesting little tidbit http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080229/ap_on_go_co/congress_contempt;_ylt=A... .
I was looking for someting on the economy and I stumbled on this.
mudshark @ 19:
more like learned that the prozac was about as good as a sugar pill is my guess.
My hubbie and I now have four jobs between us, a foreclosure, a bankruptcy, and all due to a sudden lay-off that started the whole domino effect. Believe me, if it can happen to us (no sub-prime mortgage) it can happen to anybody!
You know the start of this slide was that piece of fucking shit Reagan. That senile fuckstick was the one that started removing all the regulation's and anti-trust laws that kept the corporations from bying everything up. He was the one that started NAFTA so his corporate masters could pull our manufacturing power out from under us and validate SLAVE LABOUR which is what NAFTA is because we all know it's an excuse for these companies to ship all these jobs to CHINA - A FUCKING FASCIST, MILITARY COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIP, the exact OPPOSITE of everything the USA is SUPPOSED to stand for and WHY doesn't any of these assholes running for office ever come out and say this.
We SHOULD NOT be trading with ANY country that doesn't have equal HUMAN RIGHT'S, WORKER RIGHT'S, ANIMAL PROTECTION AND ENVIROMENTAL PROTECTION.
mudshark @ 22:
Sure..and after the investigation is over she'll write a letter not to do it again...she has 8 month's to do this and given the way Congress moves on sheet this is like a thought bubble in Homer Simpson's head.
Congress is friggin more concerned about the boil on Roger Clemen's ass then 130k troops in a hell hole in the desert or corrupt cronies.
I'm a Dem but Pelosi is a spineless coward who lied to her constituents.
ahh,here it is. http://news.yahoo.com/s/bw/20080228/bs_bw/feb2008pi20080226549123;_ylt=A... .
the economy.
kablooie @ 24:
Anybody from upper middle class on down in this country who doesn't realize that their well-being is sitting on the edge of a razor has been watching nothing but FAUX News. We are ALL sitting on a snow drift on the side of a mountain. Any sudden movement, loud noise or the weather changing just a little bit and we're ALL going to be caught up in the biggest economic avalanche of all times. Sucks to be us right now in the US of A. Hope we get away with it but I sure wouldn't want to have to bet the farm on it.
Chicken Little - NOT!! @ 28:
yes !it sucks to be us!
this is the one that caught my eye this morning http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080228/ap_on_bi_go_ec_fi/economy
more on the economy.
Tom Sizemore? The actor? A union spokesman? Maybe you meant Doug Sizemore. Or it's a joke and I'm just slow...
Interesting thread.
Yes, the economy. That little thingie that the President said today was not heading toward a recession...
G.W has bet the farm and lost it for everybody!
Chicken Little - NOT!! @ 28:
Agree,,,what no one is talking about is the rise in real estate taxes either....Ours went up 40 % based on 2006 bubble valuations...
So the moron's in Congress once again fail to even consider your monthly payment could rise 300 to 400 dollars even if you get refinanced at your current rate due to the rise in real estate taxes.
Instead they are handing out checks that will probably go right back to the state or the federal government to pay friggin taxes. We've turned into a banana republic and we don't even know it yet.
And look at the dollar sitting at 73. The friggin Canadian loonie is worth more than a buck.
kablooie @ 32:
It's real easy to gamble if you are using other people's assets. Until he has to gamble with his own it doesn't matter if he wins.
"Is this site becoming bash McCain and Hillary site. And kiss obama’s butt."
I don't know about the site, but I'm for Obama first and Hillary 2nd. If Hillary gets the nomination, I'll support her run against McCain enthusiastically, if for no other reason, then because we'll get court nominees more to my liking than we'll get out of McCain.
I think on health care, we're slated to get a half loaf from either Obama or Hillary or none at all from McCain. Neither Democrat supports single payer health (medicare for all) which is the full loaf. The Daily Show (Feb 27) had a great clip on the last debate about how there is very little differences in the positions of Clinton vs Obama.
I think the thing that sets Obama apart from the others is his opposition to the war in Iraq. Seems to me he nailed it when he said "What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other arm-chair, weekend warriors in this Administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats". Obama has stated that we should have kept the focus on Afghanistan and Al-Quada.
Meanwhile McCain still thinks the war was a bright idea, and Hillary wishes she had known then what she knows now. Trouble with Hillary's position is, the next time a decision needs to be made, only parts of the jig saw puzzle will be evident, and one will have to draw the correct conclusion. Hillary and McCain made the wrong call and Obama made the right call. So, all this "experience" of the other two doesn't give one much confidence about either parties ability to make the right call in the future.
And the war is tied to the economy, because of all the money we've pissed away in Iraq. I suspect the preceding points has something to do with the blogs tilting towards Obama, as well as the general public tilting towards Obama as well.
I remember when chocolate bars were so cheap in London, back in the 80s they cost about 10 or 15 cents in American money...
if it sucks to be NOW, why am I so happy? It's downright irrational. Must be spring, saw some daffodils today.
How much of the missing billions in Iraq is in Swiss bank accounts?
Missing Iraq Billions = G.W. Bush Presidential Library
kablooie @ 24:
anyone with any sense knows that a majority of this country is a illness or a layoff away from foreclosure. if the U.S. would stop worrying about the worlds economy and start worrying about our own we would be a lot better off. Mexico didn't have a middle class until the mid eighties or so, thats the direction we are headed in right now, no middle class ... either you are going to have everything or you are not going to have anything, I think thats what some of these repugs want.
tell mcbrain, what you really think. http://survey.johnmccain.com/default.aspx
Ron @ 34:
Republicans are to democracy, as Charles Manson was to ...
(would look good on a T-shirt)
Biff Limbaugh @ 40:
Why? Do you think he would give a shit?
With months and months of this endless war and this endless campaign, how much longer can the economy hold out? I just interviewed a lot of folks for an industry trade mag and the drought alone is causing economic havoc, then you add $4 for gas, even my daughter knew that and the Great Taxater was at his podium today saying, "4 dollar gas? I hadn't heard that one, hee-haw, I knew it was high"
I'll make a toast: to McCain's goiter!
Ron @ 37:
Theres many many people with fingers in the pie, the CPA had tonnes of dollar bills on pallets in Iraq in the CPA palaces,
lots of people in the military and civilian contractors were writing out dodgy requisitions wholesale to get their hands on big bundles of notes.
Some have been fingered and prosecuted, many more will be tracked down and faces charges in the future (post 09)
The wise ones have left the US permanently and will spend their loot outside the US,
the foolish ones who thought the game would never end, came back and built mansions.

I went to the link but I got the willies. What is there that says we're all fucked? How is it any different than the end-timer stuff we got force-fed at church as kids?
I interviewed a 111-year-old black woman who said that since she had always lived like it was the Depression, the Great Depression was nothing to her. Her parents had been slaves until they were freed. She also said women should be managers, and run the country.
She might laugh at me rooting for Obama!

Oh!
Well at least now I don't feel so bad about our family's bankruptcy!
Does this mean that Uruguay owns the waterfall near my house?

P.S. Perhaps Frist could do one of his telediagnosis's and confirm our suspicions.
Maybe Grampa just forgot to talk about it. His brain must resemble a bowl of cold oatmeal by this point.

Maybe, but we know someone who owns some nice real estate near there.
USDA Shuts Down Congressional Audit
By BEN EVANS – 9 hours ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Agriculture Department abruptly ordered congressional auditors to leave its headquarters and told its employees not to cooperate with them.
"You are hereby instructed not to meet with any member of the (Government Accountability Office) today, or until this matter is resolved," Michael Watts, a top USDA attorney, wrote to employees Wednesday in an e-mail obtained by The Associated Press.
The auditors were seeking information for an ongoing audit on Agriculture's office of civil rights and its handling of discrimination complaints. Specifically, they were investigating allegations that the department had previously provided false information for the audit.
Go to it Nancy..is this on your table ?

I'm a liberal not an idiot...
So I'm suppose to help bail out the assholes that were too good to live in a house they could afford.
Bullshit.
PS
If we wouldn't buy homes we can't afford the builders would be forced to build affordable working class housing.
Geeze.
Housing is too expensive on the coasts. The flyover states' problem is that nobody wants to live there, but they built a shitload of McMansions anyway because, well, money was cheap (thank Greedspan).
People who are upside down on mortgages are that way because of two reasons:
1. They bought a long time ago, and took way too many equity withdrawals (loans).
2. They bought recently and bid too high. They mitigated that issue by not putting up a down payment ('skin in the game') and not paying down principal (negative amortization) using toxic loan products that hid the real costs of owning real estate (for awhile).
Certainly the banks deserve to take a bath for making these stupid loans, but the purchasers of these albatrosses do dot inherently deserve to have their losses wiped away.
The process of 'price discovery' needs to happen.
This column makes a lot more sense than I can:

Homer would probably in a hestatingly way after a beer and nuts, thank the site monitor for doing a nice job, and turning Marges problem into mincemeat.
I intend to as well, Thank you masked man, for all that you do. Now can I say SHIT!
Remember, Grandpa McBush already said economics was not his strong point and he would have to read Alan Greenspan's book. Just when you thought they couldn't get any worse, they do. Grandpa's answer to our problems is to follow exactly what Bush has been doing for the past 7 years, NOTHING BUT CAUSING WARS and making people all over the world hate America.
