$45,000 and counting
By John Amato Wednesday Mar 12, 2008 3:35pmBlue America's FISA fundraiser is doing incredible. Thanks so much and keep contributing if possible so we can take swift action against the Bush Dogs. Donate here.
What can I say. In a little over 24 hours, much to our surprise, we raised almost $42,000 to go after Bush Dog Democrats who are joining with the Republicans to try and pass retroactive telecom immunity. Woof.
So the question is still -- who do we go after? You can still vote.
As Glenzilla says, "The goal is to raise as much money as possible to run local ads against one or two of them, alerting as many possible voters in their districts of their endless complicity with the most radical, corrupt aspects of the Bush administration's chronic lawbreaking and illegal domestic spying."
Thanks to you, we have a lot of options. Let us know who you think deserves to be the target of our efforts for joining with the Republicans to try and pass retroactive immunity for Dick Cheney and the telecom criminals.

Good news, but "incredible" is not an adverb.
Whats Fisa? Nothing on CNN.com about it ... but Governors Gal Pal or some shite has been the headline all day ...
The votes are beginning to happen. Do you plan to run the campaign after they vote when it's meaningless?
What are you waiting for to start the calls?
Don't forget that when you target Blue Dogs for removal you risk losing the district to a Republican.
If the economy keeps on it's current path, all the illegal aliens will be returning home, longing for their 'better' economy. If it takes a severe turn downward, even the descendants of the Pilgrims will be heading back to Europe. At that point, being American Indian will be cool.

If the democrats are just as bad, who cares?
Anyone who votes for this crap legitimizes it, and they are not people I want on my side.
I would argue that people like Lieberman are more damaging to the world than his republican clones.
Right now the democrats are afraid of the alienating the completely wrong constituency. Screw them, make them afraid of their base.
Phil @ 7:
I will always believe LIEbermann was blackmailed via wiretapping by the WH, he was popular with many until after 2004. LIEbermann had to go the dubs route or have his private life exposed.

Are we to become a political party where everyone must hold identical views?

nail thier ass to the barn door!
This is pretty good, any effort towards understanding a solution to FISA is important. Especially, any amnesty towards corporations for violations in law regarding privacy. For heavens sakes America has already endured about twelve years of Republican controlled Congress and a Mainstream Media complicit to it avoiding any over sight till now.
No wonder is seems America is wading in a pile of dong totally ignored in over sight and media coverage that is and should have been done but abused for profiteering in the mission to Mainstream Media that has supported Bush and Company.
Just this past few hours Barney Franks was on CNBC doing an interview about what might be a good ideal to help the mortgage industry out with another three hundred billion dollar financing deal. Yikes, America stuff is really flipping around now. This deal above and beyond the two hundred billion already made and who knows how much we don’t know has been in the works already. Ladies and gentleman of America this is approaching another huge, huge scandal beyond the charted economics we usually deal with or are told about.
Its time to say stop this funding of the stock market and let it work it self out. It seems real sensible if the powers that be are going to rob money through the Treasury which it looks like Bush and Company are doing, it might well be for a good score. My prophecy is that Bush and the Neo-Con’s have siphoned any where from twenty to forty trillion dollars in cover ups that America does not know about. This is only a prediction which would be anywhere from five to ten times Americas gross national expenses divided out to secret agreements around the world that would be difficult to recapture considering international laws.
Yes, money laws count, here and around the world, but personal privacy or torture, morality, and basic needs in America do not count. The Neo-Con’s new world order. The Market that is freely your money. Sorry Barney, its time to bow out just as the governor did.

liberberman was allways just a plant in the dem party placed thier by the mossad! hes a douchwad!
CD @ 9:
What a ridiculous strawman.
That's not remotely what I said, and it is boorish of you to pretend it is.
It's not asking too much of democrats to, say, not contribute to the destruction of the constitution or this tragedy of a war.
If they want to act like republicans I will treat them as such.
Phil @ 13:
I wasn't accusing you of anything.
I just realized what a dangerous road we are going down.
Do you hear O or C making a big deal about FISA? Are they chaining themselves to the Constitution in any of their ads? Nope. They’re to busy slapping each other about who gets to go first, ho's or bro's.
Has Pelosi made this a make or break deal as to who gets money for their district or support for their campaign? Nope. She campaigned for bush dogs because "... campaigning for incumbents is what we do."
Before the primary season did you bother to find out whether your Rep would sit-on-their-ass-and-let-it-all-pass-by or hide-under-their-desk-until-the big-boys-decide or cleave-to-the-money-and-to-hell-with-the-consequences-to-the-rule-of-law? And are you now surprised to find them AWOL in the fight to save our Constitution?
When Pelosi took impeachment off the table, did you or your Rep cry foul or did you think it was enough to have a ’dem’ majority?
Singling out these four is like trying to swat a few flies to keep a corpse from rotting.
Somehow, out of the disaster America is tumbling into I hope all of you dem uber alles quit chasing the brie-and-chardonnay fantasy that constitutes the neo-liberal economic and political philosophy of those that own the party. If you really want to make a difference, send a few bucks to someone brave enough to take a lonely stand in enemy territory for the sake of the future of the world.

Ok, CD, apologies.
I just think that a lot of the state of the world right now can be blamed on democratic "triangulation" and other appeasement strategies. The last seven years have happened because there was no opposition party. We let it happen. And we still are.
John - yes, I do hear Obama making a big deal about FISA. And many other constitutional issues. Hillary? No. She is one of the architects of triangulation and the hijacking of the party by DiNOs.
Phil, point to the ad. A mention in a few speeches at campaiagn rallies mean nothing because there he is only talking to the faithful, but show me one tv ad or even a msm interview where he draws a line in the sand. I am sorry, but the dems have made this a inside-the-beltway issue and not taken it to the people.
john in California @ 17:
Huh? Ad? Who gives a damn about ads? Why on earth is that the standard? That's just silly.
With all this advocating against the telecom companies, how many of you here actually took action and dumped them? I used to have verizon and signed up with tmobile.
Phil @ 16:
It's alright.
I feel their voting for the FISA Bill is enough to warrent considering removing them from office.
However I fear that this will set a precedent and that one day there will not be any dissenting views allowed in the Democratic party.
There will only be the Party line.
Phil, the ad or the tv face time are the way most people get to understand what a candidate thinks is important. If it is telephone calls at 3: AM or having a positive sense of the future, then that is what the candidate come3s to stand for. I do not believe that either H or O has made big deal out of FISA in any but the most faithful forums. This is how they keep their volunteers and small contributors in line without actually taking a real stand. When it is all over and another section of the Constitution is wadded up and thrown in the trash, they will point to there vote and say, "See, I tried but those meany repubs just steamrolled us!" These two are supposed to competing to be both the leader of our country and leader of the party. If they cannot go to the bush dogs and tell them upfront that there will be consequences for trashing the Constitution then they are either toothless or are running the usual political shell game we have come to expect from dems.
(and I have just violated my policy of one comment per thread so don’t expect a running argument. Ga-day, mate!)
How sick is this? Donate money to save our rights? I know, I know...but it still makes me sick to my stomach.
I begin to fear. It seems I want to vote, but fear of internal doubt. There certainly futile any hidden intent.
