Aspiring Idaho politician changes name to ‘Pro-Life’

And he’s running for Larry Craig’s old seat. What’s the matter with Idaho?

  CBS News:

A Senate candidate has legally changed his name to Pro-Life and will appear on the ballot that way this year, state election officials say.

As Marvin Pro-Life Richardson, the organic strawberry farmer from Letha, 30 miles northwest of Boise, was denied the use of his middle name when he ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2006 because the state’s policy bars the use of slogans on the ballot.

Now, though, officials in the Idaho secretary of state’s office say they have no choice because Pro-Life is his full and only name. He says he will run for the highest state office on the ballot every two years for the rest of his life, advocating murder charges for doctors who perform abortions and for women who obtain the procedure.

Craig failed to file the necessary re-election papers, thereby keeping his promise to retire.

here in tennessee, we had a case of a similar name changer. byron looper faced dismal prospects in his run against the popular long time state senator tommy burks. so byron changed his name to “low tax” in an effort to get his message across to the voters. unfortunately, before the election the prospects for a “low tax” victory were much worse than slim to none. being a typical republican, “low tax” decided his best chance for an election upset was to ambush and brutally murder senator burks with a handgun. now “low tax” is locked up in the riverbend maximim security prison in nashville offering his political allegiences to the aryan brotherhood or crips whenever convenient.

“I don’t get pro lifers, on the one hand they couldn’t care less about children with no health care, but on the other hand they want to dictate to others how to live.”

Here’s another thing I don’t get about religous “pro-lifers”. Why is collateral damage (which is 1st or 2nd degree murder) during war a-ok? I would respect these guys if they were the ultimate pacifists but, in general, I have found, by in large, that they are not.

Also, they are usually big advocates for deadly force in self-defense also. Why not just let god sort it out and dole out the appropriate punishment in the end-times and continue to passivelypray for things to get better and attempt to peacefully convert infidels to your belief system? Better yet, thank the abortion doctors for sending the unborn to a faster reunion with Yahweh…or whomever…without the pitstop of this mortal life.

If someone wants to get an abortion then why in holy hell would anyone think that person would be a ideal candidate to be a parent at that time, especially when forced? This jackass needs to put those Idaho libertarian ideals to work and stay out of peoples personal affairs.

Or if anyone thinks that “life” starts a conception then the answer is simple…remove the fertilized egg immediately and see out viable and independent it really is.

I do believe that there should be a provision in the law where as if someone causes an unwanted pregnacy termination there should be criminal action against the offender taken after consulting with the woman (or her family in the case of murder).

Let me guess: he’s opposed to comprehensive sex education and health coverage for oral contraceptives, things that would prevent an assload of pregnancies in the first place, and thereby reduce the call for abortion.

So tell me: are pro-lifers stupid, or just lying about their motives?

The former is either voluntary or necessary whereas the latter is not?

37
Walter Says:

MCMetal @ 4:

I think the Pro-Life movement in general is not based in ignorance. When you start looking at the people that are pro-life and see that they are pro-death penalty, pro-war, and see that many of them are against providing health care or proper foster care for kids, then yeah there is ignorance. If we could provide a happy home for every (i cringe to say) unwanted child, then I would probably be a big pro-lifer, but since that world is an illusion at worst and a fairy tale at best, then I will remain pro-choice.

It’s simple. “Pro life” is only a code word. What they really are is pro punishment. Their whole religion is based on punishment for anyone who doesn’t follow their narrow minded rules. Forcing a poor, preferably dark-skinned, woman to give birth to an unwanted child is punishment for having sex that is not sanctioned within their regressive religious world view. For them, the fact that that child will most likely live a life of misery is just icing on the cake. You see, their religion also celebrates the concept of punishment for the descendants of “sinners”, and their descendants, and so on for generations to come. They revel in the belief of a vengeful god.

Richardson is a truly unique candidate whose political position is so astonishingly limited and yet so universally applicable to every issue:

Taxes: abortion causes taxes

Agriculture: Private property is paramount and abortion limits the industry

Education: Public education should be abolished because it promotes abortion

Government: Most positions should be abolished and so should abortion

Can’t wait for the next televised debate. This will be the highlight of the election cycle.

Zak44 Says:

Reminds me of a Tennessee politician—Byron Looper—who legally changed his middle name from Anthony to “Low Tax” when he ran for state senate.

Before the election could take place, however, he shot and killed the incumbent. So instead of serving a term in the state senate, he’s now serving a life sentence in state prison. (I am not making this up.)

Need I add that he’s a Republican?

We are continually screwed here in Idaho by the ignorance of
people who like a lot of Americans vote against their own self interests . wish us luck people , please .

Not really. Most of the “pro-lifers” I’ve known have no problem with family planning and birth control when it comes to their families. And I’ve never known a single one who adopted when they already had children of their own.

I guess he has no voting record as a politician. (which candidates he has supported via his own votes) So only his stance on these other issues would demonstrate whether he is truly PRO-LIFE
