How a federal inmate duped the Los Angeles Times, fabricated FBI reports, and linked Sean “Diddy” Combs to 1994 ambush of Tupac Shakur
Last week’s bombshell Los Angeles Times report claiming that the 1994 shooting of Tupac Shakur in the lobby of a Manhattan recording studio was carried out by associates of Sean “Diddy” Combs and that the rap impresario knew of the plot beforehand was based largely on fabricated FBI reports, The Smoking Gun has learned.
The Smoking Gun just rocked their world. This could cost them big time and it should. That’s not a good sign for the newly hired Russ Stanton. How does the LA paper of record print this story and get taken to the cleaners by a con man like this? It’s unreal. The Times apologized for their outrageous reporting:
Reporter Chuck Philips and his supervisor, Deputy Managing Editor Marc Duvoisin, issued statements of apology Wednesday afternoon. The statements came after The Times took withering criticism for the Shakur article, which appeared on latimes.com last week and two days later in the paper’s Calendar section…read on

I’m still trying to figure out why I should care.
I can’t believe it’s been fourteen years. Man, time flies.
Dr. T, you beat me to it. To quote our dear leader, “So?”
If the MSM can’t even report and make the public fully aware of the atrocities committed by this current administration what is so shocking about the fact that the LA Times has been played? Just par for the course I think. Today’s MSM is nothing more than tabloid fodder.
This is why Harry Shearer calls it the Los Angeles Dog Trainer.

Seconded…err, thirded.
In far more important news:
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/f.....rimble.htm
“Extraordinary tirade today from Jamie Rubin, State Department assistant secretary in Bill Clinton’s administration and now a Hillary Clinton advisor, who branded Lord Trimble of Lisnagarvey, formerly David Trimble, as a “crankpot” (presumably a cross between a crank and a crackpot) - and anti-woman to boot - for daring to call into question the former First Lady’s Northern Ireland role.
Rubin also came dangerously close to suggesting that it is only Irish Catholics who matter, saying he was “pretty much the only one” questioning Hillary’s Irish credentials. “He’s a Protestant, they traditionally go with the Conservatives.” Well, it’s not true that Trimble (now a Conservative member of the House of Lords) is the only one scratching his head about Hillary’s self-proclaimed Irish peace credentials. There have been many others, Protestant and Catholic. And I’m not sure that trashing a Nobel Prize winner or brushing aside what Protestants, the majority in Northern Ireland, think is really the way to go for the Clinton campaign on this issue.
You can watch the video here. The relevant part starts about 5 minutes and 30 seconds in. Andrea Mitchell is asking him why Hillary Clinton appears to be exaggerating her role, which the former First Lady recently described as “instrumental”. He pulls out a piece of paper and reads a quotation from the late Mo Mowlam, former Northern Ireland Secretary, about Hillary helping to bring about an economic boom.
Mitchell: “As you know, there are others, like David Trimble, who disagree.”
Rubin: “I’ve met David Trimble. And he’s pretty much the only one. He’s a Protestant, they traditionally go with the Conservatives. I think we have a John Hume, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, who said…”
Mitchell: “It was David Trimble who shared in that prize, Jamie.”
Rubin: “Right, and I know these people. I’ve been living over there. David Trimble is a crankpot and what he said about her was demeaning. He said, ‘Oh well, maybe she accompanied her husband on a couple of trips’. As a woman, Andrea, I would think you would recognise when somebody is trying to demean the activities of a woman. She was an important First Lady in foreign policy. I know. I was in that administration and we understood she was not serving tea and cookies, she played a significant role.”’
So i stupidly went to CNN.com (when will i learn) b/c I heard on CBC this morning that
the Green Zone was under morter attack for hours … <Crickets>

Journalism in the age of Zell! Although it’s not hard to imagine this kind of idiocy happening under Bill Keller; in fact, it already has.

Yeah, I’m the same way.
I finally discovered the late night news bliss of NPR just about two weeks ago.
And God rest his soul, that genius that he was, but couldn’t he have taken his damned company with him?

Too bad the Donut Ham Hamburger is already taken.
I think that everybody everywhere should try to plant erroneous stories in newspapers. We live in an age of disinformation and noninformation. Why not push the MSM over the cliff altogether?

The US M$M is just a shitty joke.
When Lee Harvey Oswald kiilled JFK he got caught within minutes. Tupac and Biggie were assassinated in front of hundreds of people and they still cant find the killers. Are black celebrities a lower priority for law enforcement?
Message to the MSM. Do you want to increase subscriptions?
PRINT SOME NEWS!
yeah! real journalism is expensive. They fired the guy who tried to keep the paper’s journalistic integrity because he wouldn’t cut his budget.
abob @ 24:
They have the killers, through investigation and chain of evidence - Two LAPD who worked with shug knight. and murder of important public figures is assassination. murder of thugs is just murder. the motive was money. Tupac’s mom eventually won money and property rights from shug.
abob @ 24:
LHO was a patsy.
It’s “against the rules” in “urban areas” to speak with the po po.
earl @ 22:
the issue here is the west coast paper-of-record can’t even get THAT story straight.
earl @ 22:
And how about the extreme BUSHIT being spewed this morning by herr prrrrrresident? I’m getting sick to my stomach listening to this delusional fuck.
Dr. Acula @ 28:
do you know anything but rumors and innuendo about the “urban areas”?
abob @ 24:
Didn’t they catch Oswald because he shot a cop? And I think it was about an hour and a half later.

Rusty Shackleford @ 32:
Of course, they should have treated tupac and bigge as if they were as important as JFK, right?
CoIntelPro - against Divisive Democrats @ 31:
I suppose everything I’ve read and seen regarding the hatred of police is a creation of the media.
The good news is that with modern journamalism, this can only be good for Chuck Philips’ career.
Dr. Acula @ 35:
I dunno, I’m not exactly a fan :D
Celebrity news isn’t important, unless you’re using this as another rant against the guy running the ‘Times. But like the Dan Rather mistake, the history is true, even if the story is wrong: Biggie was involved in his death.
Dr. Acula @ 35:
That “hatred of the police” thing is a creation of the police.

I can say for a fact that I don’t hate the police, but there are too many people in the force who don’t deserve to wear the badge.
Verdillac @ 40:
Agreed. A lot of cops are assholes, but it doesn’t change the reality that “being a rat” isn’t tolerated in some circles.
earl @ 8:
Actually, it’s the egg mcmuffin. But I get your point.
Personally, I’m surprised that Hillary’s people aren’t putting out the rumor that Tupac was actually killed by hitmen hired by Rev. Wright and that Obama has been protecting him for years.
[Deleted. Trolling. And you’re banned, too. Site Monitor]
Interesting.
I’d always assumed Tupac had fallen far, far behind on his tattooists fees.
That’s nothing — the LA Times, WaPo, and NYT have all been played by Bushco for nearly a decade and they haven’t noticed yet.
BTW, I highly recommend the Nick Broomfield film, “Biggie & Tupac” for anyone interested in the death of either rapper, or in just a good documentary. I liked the film even though I am not a rap fan.
i care cuz i stumbled on that scene when tupac was shot in 1994. was walking home from work at midnight, turned the corner and saw his bodyguard lying in front of me just as EMS was arriving. had no idea what or who until i saw it on CNN the next day. that was the last time i walked home, used car service from then on.
Rusty Shackleford @ 2:
no shit, huh…
only the more reason to stop with this type of nonsense. anyone who knows anything about tupac saw right through this crap, anyway.
