Bush gets loudly booed at Nationals home opener

Or maybe they were yelling "Boooooosh!"?? We report, you decide.

Cheney got a similar greeting in 2006.

ThinkProgress notes that Paul Lo Duca, the former NY Mets catcher who was mentioned 37 times in the Mitchell Report, was replaced by Manager Manny Acta to catch the first pitch.

Where were the torch-wielding mobs?!

"Smithers, are they booing?"

"No, they're saying 'Boo-urns! Boo-urns!'"

"I was saying Boo-urns."

He sure looked pissed walking to the mound. I don't think he'll emerge from the bubble again anytime soon. Guy can't handle how many people hate his guts.

Spin that frat boy.

I'm surprised this scumbag is allowed out in public.
Did his shirt say 'War Criminal'? I think that should be posted on his vehicle and residence.
Its the only way we can protect our children from monsters like this.

i don't know much about such, but it sure looked like he was in a hurry to get off that field...
good catch... hope the guy didn't pull a muscle going "high" for it...

and, of course, the obligatory "9 / 11" reference...

This is how he mourns the death of our troops.

you have to give him credit, that single pitch might be his best accomplishment in 8 years

The SOB was auditioning for the job as the next Commissioner of Baseball.

My abiding hope is that even the birdbrain owners got tonight's message loud and clear: GW Bush will live out the rest of his days as the most reviled American on the face of the earth.

Just like everything else, he didn't take the time to make sure he executed his pitch properly.

seevee @ 3:

Spin that frat boy.

That suck-up of an announcer was sure trying to do that. He may have covered up some of the booing at the end, but there's no doubt Bush was thoroughly booed when he came out.

Booooooooosh has got it coming to him!

The pitch was strong but a bit high, probably because he was distracted thinking about the Iraqi dead.

This would be a great scene in a "Dead Zone" parody: with Bu--sh-- winding up and thrwing, but then seeing into a vortex revealing the future, where he is being given a life sentence for his crimes at the Hague.

Was this broadcast on Fox? The announcers managed to work in 9/11, thats the only thing that worthless scumbag can say he accomplished: For a few days after a tragedy, SOME people thought he was a leader. Thats IT.

I wonder if that broke through his bubble....?

Just a thought, but I would suspect that mr. bush will toss and turn in his bed over this before he misses a wink about 4000 dead soldiers. By "this", I of course am talking about throwing nearly over the catchers head.

Did anybody get the clip of him in the announcer's booth?

This assfuck cannot be out of office any sooner!

That pitch would have been high and behind the head of a right handed batter. He might have been thrown out of the game for intentionally trying to bean the batter. Which would be just like him now, wouldn't it?

Miller and Morgan were far too kind.

No they were yelling "Bourn's." For Monte Burns of course. He and Georgie have lots in common.

Announcers don't mention the very mixed reception.

"So?"

I always enjoy season open'ers. However as i watched this game ,each time they mentioned dumbo was comming out or gonna be in the booth for an interview I switched channels. I wonder if the baseball lords understand how hated this sub human is ,when they bounce around ideas such as who will be future commissioner, etc. To align themseleves with and auto matic channel changer may not be good for the game or ratings, to the tv excs. who would promote his appearances,,,,

After 911, the country would have exalted Jeffrey Dahmer as a hero if he spoke with some clarity. The vacuum created by the bush administration's ploy to shock and awe the country by performing 911, has left a gaping hole in her pscyche that has yet to truly be fixed/explained, or remedied. It is starting to get salt rubbed in this wound from the Adminstrations SECOND absence of conscience called the mortgage crisis. ALl the white people had no real problem with Katrina because it was a natural catastrophe and it was poor minorities being hurt. Now, it is the white folk who tried to take the biggest bite out of the American Pie and leverage their meager holdings to get a better house, a bigger slice of Americana, only to now have their face rubbed in it, and told No help is forthcoming. While yet the credit amd banking institutions that gave the high risk, no document loans are getting bailed out with direct corporate welfare from bush, and or loans. Fu(king disgusting. So everyone again let us repeat. IT WAS THE SAUDIS who supposedly attacked us on 911, why did we go into Afghanistan and Iraq? Please once again explain that????

Wow, that was some pretty loud booing. He can't pretend he is in the bubble anymore, can he but he doesn't care. He came to do what he planned: increase the power of corporations, start and unending war, and screw working America.

I understand people booing but who were the ignorant numb nuts that were applauding?
I did not know that there was anyone left in America that stupid?

Joe Morgan is one of the true nice guys in baseball, as is Jon Miller. Sadly, in this case, they should have called a Bush a Bush.

He perverted the office and now he has perverted the game

Wow, he took a big risk going out where so many hate him. Must have been wearing a bullet proof vest.

Some cheer, some boo, you can hear what you want. Keep in mind, though, that this is anything but a blue collar crowd. Opening night at a new stadium and it's the social/cocktail/political set, all being as diplomatic as possible. President Bust (sic)should try to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at a Cubs game this summer, that would be interesting. I also think it's interesting that they almost had to drag him out of the broadcast booth - in the past the president would only stay a few innings and then have to go off to pressing national business. Bust was all "Yeah, I can hang around another inning or two! Whose got the beer and hot dogs!"

espn

announcers are joe morgan and jon miller

miller is one of the best in the game

The ESPN announcers were complete sycophants. They sounded like they really admired Bush.

They should quit their jobs and move to Crawford Texas after Bush is out of office so they may serve their master and king.

Most of the 28 percent who still love this man are work in the MSM.

Hey Joe Morgan, I loved you as a player, but you are pretty critical of a lot of people - why spare Bush?

I guess if Bush has time to go to private corporations like Baseball teams, he just have solve all the problems. Way to go. Will he now come to my private business, and do some free p.r. for me?

this was also the inaugaral of the new national's stadium

fuck booosh

Something I've been saying for years... he may reside in Washington (when he's not on vaca in Crawford) but we in this region sure as hell don't like him.

I think this was broadcast on MASN, which is a regional sports channel. I don't think any announcer on any station would acknowledge the booing, they could care less who threw out the pitch, just the game itself.

Still, he high-tailed the hell out of there.

lo duca wasnt catching, cuz lo duca probably woulda taken his head off

Wow, it sounded like "fuck YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!" to me.

You're right, it was a brush back pitch. The announcers made it sound like the greatest pitch ever made.

Couldn't happen to a bigger asshole. I was taken back by the loudness and length though. I suspect the chimp was too. Oh well he wont have to go through that humiliation again.

One big screwball throwing a screwball. Like all of his other actions, it was WAY out of the strike zone ! When asked about his errant toss, he replied, "I spent the whole week practicing pushing Laura around. I thought they said they wanted me to throw out the first bitch!"

Right around the 1:50 minute mark they cut to a close up of Bush's face, and he looks really pissed.

Surprised the announcers didn't say "stop being respectful to the king, er, President".

Booing is a start,a baby step--I suppose.
I'm hoping prison is the finish.

Sorry, Janeane, but you're making too much out of this.

They played it like a good sports announcer should- apolitically. They didn't invite Bush to throw out that pitch, and it's outside their realm of expertise to make political comments. They piss off enough people when they opine on the play on the field. They do owe it to their employer- ESPN/Disney in this case- to keep viewers, not lose them.

And, honestly, for a guy who never played the game professionally, it wasn't a horrible pitch. Miller and Morgan were spot-on when they pointed out that Bush made the pitch from the rubber- most 60+ year old amateurs who try that don't manage to reach the plate. Hell, most would skip the ball about 10 feet in front of the plate. You try it.

I just had the pleasure of watching this weeks presentation on HBO of the John Adams series , the swearing in of George Washington was very poignant.
Its hard to believe how much this country has digressed when it comes to leaders . I wonder how the bar could be lowered so much so fast when it comes to high office in this country it now lays in the dirt and is repeatedly shit upon by this phony president and all the traitors he surrounds himself with. I only hope this country is still strong enough to rebound from the scourge that has been , the Bush years.

Definitely a boo.
Not surprised that he throws a better pitch than most Presidents - I bet FDR threw a really lousy pitch and then there's the others who spent their time reading and doing their job rather than working out to keep them off drugs and alcohol. Sucks at everything as a President but for the vacant brains --- they're excited because he wears flight outfits, and clears the brush and d@mn, wouldn't he be great to have a beer with. What a joke!

From Wall Street 24/7 comes the latest stomach churning pile of crap in regard to the big money banks and how they're using YOUR money:
________________________________________________________________
"Banks are going to the Fed and getting money at 2.5% and putting it onto their balance sheets.

What do the big money centers do with the money? They make investments in high-yield instruments. Or, put it into their proprietary trading operations. A bank that takes in $10 billion could make a $1 billion return on that over the course of a year, perhaps more, by "playing the spread" on the dirt cheap cash from Bernanke & Company.

The game the banks are playing at the expense of tax-payers due to inexpensive money from the Fed is outstanding for investors who hold stock in the firms. It could be one of the best money-making opportunities that companies like Citigroup (NYSE:C), JP Morgan (NYSE:JPM), and Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) have had in years. And, it is an opportunity which exists independent from the issues of their write-downs in mortgage-backed paper and LBO debt which they cannot syndicate.

On the face of it, the action by the banks would seem to be fine. But, in many ways it is not. One place that the money from the Fed is not going is to consumer and small business banking customers who need to re-finance mortgages, make capital expenditures, or add pay-roll to growing operations.

The Fed has a great deal of leverage now. It does not have to hand the money to big money center operations without strings attached. It could insist that some of that capital flow to consumer lending. But, that is not what is going on, which is fabulous news for bank stockholders.

I was in the crowd for opening day in St. Louis in 2004. Bush threw out the 1st pitch there as well. Although he wasn't hated as much then as he is now, there were still plenty of booing taking place. The Cardinals management must have anticipated that possibility because they enhanced the (canned) cheers via their sound system. Even then, seeing him was disgusting.

I have seen the sound man in the stadium production and mixing room, q up a cd of applause and play it just under the actual stadium crowd. Remember the stadium crowd is also mic'd ...so the sound man plays their CD at about 50-60% of the actual crowd noise...it blends in and spikes the noise level...hell... NFL and College teams are always getting accused of the same thing at games

I guarantee you, that would have sounded 3 times worse without them 'padding his stats' to use a baseball phrase.
