DNC Files Lawsuit About Campaign Finance Weasel John McCain

We've been tracking this outrage since it began and in my earlier post you'll see what a Free Ride, John McCain receives from his press buddies. Heck, it looks like Candy Crowley used a McCain press release for her report on Public Financing.

I took the headline from FDL's fine work and she's got the latest from the DNC.

Since the FEC doesn't have enough commissioners to take action, having been gutted by Republicans in the Senate who are blocking the appointment of a quorum, the DNC's complaint about this matter has fallen on deaf ears. (We filed a similar complaint.) If the FEC fails to act, the law allows the DNC to file suit compelling them to do so -- which they did today.

The DNC is asking the court to compel the FEC to investigate -- which they can't. So when they fail to do so, the DNC can (and most likely will) ask the court for an injunction against McCain. Essentially, this is the next necessary step in that process -- they can't ask for the injunction until they show that the FEC can't act.

Do you think Crowley will cover McCain's antics on Public Financing if it goes to court?

No. Why would they if they've gone this far?

Do you think Crowley will cover McCain’s antics on Public Financing if it goes to court?

I think the question is will they let anyone cover McCain's antics on Public Financing if it goes to court?

Candy Crowley is totally in bed with the Republicans and will never say anything that might be construed as critical of John McCain.

And, please note the WaPo editorial today tries out an argument that Obama is breaking his word regarding public financing.

Partisan politics aside, these are tremendous Civics lessons that are being taught here. I hope Social Studies teachers are payinga attention.

If a McCain falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, did it happen?

As I have been told by some of my teacher friends, civics and government are no longer being taught in a lot of school districts; apparently, it is no longer considered important for a democracy to have an electorate that understands how our government is designed to work. Since the school districts my friend was referencing are in solidly red voting districts, I am presumming that it is because they consider that kind of knowledge dangerous to the conservative agenda.

He is NOT breaking his word, not even close. Obama has done nothing similar to the obvious violations of the McWarmonger campaign.

The obvious answer is, "We can not comment on an ongoing investigation". Sheesh, hasn't the lats 7 years taught you anything.

fatNO CHANCE of that!

that explains Crowley and her repeating the meme last thread. It also means that they are now in full BullShitOverdrive, trying to flood the lies about Obama out into the mainstream.

My school district is in the middle of several solidly Republican Michigan counties; very conservative. I'm not sure about surrounding districts, but ours still requires 1 semester of US history and 1 semester of government, followed by 2 semesters of social studies.
We're teaching them in my neighborhood... but the trick is getting them to listen or care.

Nope she won't cover his antics because it's apparent Candy loves the free buffet on the Magical Mystery Tour Bus much more than doing some actual reporting.

Yep, it has only just begun, the slime that will ooze from the mouths of the neocon cheerleaders is gonna get worse as the popularity of Obama keeps going. They're scared and will do and say anything as well as ignore anything to make sure McWarmonger is elected, maybe the SCOTUS can decide this election just like 2000 because McWarmonger doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of getting a majority of votes.

Gretchen, I'm in Kent County. I've got a feeling we're neighbors. When I was in HS, GRPS required 4 semesters- 2 years- of American History.

Not Fox, they are fair and balanced. It even says so in their commercial. I am confident that the media is every bit as trustworthy as the presidential candiates themselves.

Would McCain be able to use public financing during the general if he is found to have signficiantly violated public financing rules in the primary?

they are also providing john with a continuing stream of excuses.

I have posted this before, but its definitely worth repeating. Two issues in particular:1.) Ken Silverstein's article in Harper's magazine about the rundown of McCaint's tax returns for the past few years--($250.00 ,out of one million $$$ McCain tax free foundation- to abused children in Phoenix) 2.)The McCain connection in the Jack Abramoff Senate hearings re: Indian Casinos-check out the SamStein piece at Huffington Post abput the lobbying email that Mc Cain left out of the BIA Abramoff report! The Stein piece involves the controversial imprisonment of Alabama Governoer Don Siegelman-definitely worth a look see!

actually, for the violations alleged, there could be significant jail time.

If stories about McCain are all you have - I'm done with you for today C&L. There has GOT to be other news.

I'm so sick of McCain and the fawning press that covers him, I could vomit. I already signed the petition - give us a break here . . . .

This guy divorced his handicapped wife to marry some rich ol' bag that plugged him into the political circut. He then played a large role in the Lincoln Savings and Loan Scandal that cost taxpayers billions. Not only did he not lose his seat, he got the nod for presidential nominee. He laughs in the face of your finance rules and will take your tax money at will. Bush already gave him immunity for the crimes he and his campaign have and will commit.

It's too bad that so many Americans are such a bunch of all day suckers who fall for these Republican tricks every time.

If the judge is one of Bush's goons McCain will be fine. He will probably be dead by the time it goes to court.

That is what is going on. They think the public is stupid and they like it that way. Most people vote without even knowing what is going on and the Republican's love it They say you get the president you deserve. Unfortunately they take the rest of us down with them.

Creepy Crowley, like Sherwin Williams, can cover the earth.

In a word no. Candy Crowley has been giving favorable spin to Republican Presidential candidates since the first Ronald Reagan campaign. Almost thirty years later there's no cause to expect anything different.

Great link. I positively LOVE to see anyone stick it to DeVos. It was thrilling to see him go down last time around but I have the feeling we haven't seen the last of him and it will only get tougher from here.

Sorry, that is for Andy@20.
**note to self - proof before submitting, especially after drinking.**

It probably wouldn't seem so bad if this weren't the man who got so much face time on the various news outlets "fighting" for campaign reform. Apparently that was only about publicity. Another nail in his coffin.

You in Benton Harbor/St. Joe?

I have no idea who we'll nominate to replace Granholm- I'm hoping for Dennis Archer, but I think he may be back and too busy as the Mayor of Detroit when the next gubernatorial race rolls around. But DeVos will be back.

And his slice of that Ohio fine is a drop in the bucket to DeVos. I'm against corporal punishment, but I wish they could give him a literal kick in the nuts.

The MSM now possesses all the clarity of a dirty pond..........

McStupidoldfuck does similarly as Chimpy , and he's lauded as a "maverick" ; Obama speaks to what is going on , and he's called an elitist and all attempts are made to make it look as if he's going back on his word (when McShitstain is guilty of that type of infraction 1,000-fold).

Candy Crowley's only positive trait is that her first name reveals she was aptly named if she were indeed named after her diet ..................

You're close; St. Joe county. Where you stand about as great a chance of changing Repub minds as you do finding a good restaurant. We had friends here from Scotland recently and they thought it was "quaint". I think they're being polite. We've learned to cook pretty good at home and import our wines from Germany. I guess that makes us bitter elitists?
I was hoping Archer too but that hope is dimming by the day. What I'm really hoping for is someone willing to dig really deep on DeVos. I do think there is a lot more there that will make the Ohio voucher deal look like pocket change.
Oh well, at least we didn't unleash the plague that is Romney. Romney on the ticket this November would have made me literally cringe with shame as a Michigander.
