John Amato’s virtual online magazine…OK, It’s a blog!

Mike’s Blog Round Up

Obsidian Wings: National Review — wrong about those Democratic ‘economic elites’ and campaign contributions.

Alicublog: National Review — wrong about McCain’s chances of selling the GOP as “the party of optimism” in 2008.

Sadly, No: National Review — wrong about the homeless causing global warming. (Hmm, I’m sensing a trend here.)

Eye on Economics: Distributorcap NY examines growing socio-economic inequality, while Brad DeLong and Paul Krugman explain why you should hate some economists — something to do with endorsements of McCain’s “wildly irresponsible” tax proposals.

The article mentioning the homeless completely misses the point. The Op-Ed doesn’t say the homeless cause global warming, it just sets the baseline - the infrastructure CO2 footprint. If Americans could get to grips with that simple concept, they would realise what an uphill battle we face on emission control.

That’s what they call in modern occultism synchronicity.

You just plain don’t think.

Of course the term was borrowed from Carl Jung along with others like shadow-self, and archetype, but since the latter was developed while Jung was studying Tarot cards, it’s kind of like he borrows so we borrow.

Funny you should say that, in Tarot cards swords represent the element of air, and Hitler certainly like thes sword (aggression).

Around the time of the Italian Renaissance the devil became representative of air, presumably because lightening storms would strike the huge new steeples of the more baroque churches.

Are you referring to the Sadly,No! post, the National Review post by Iain Murray they’re mocking, or the WSJ piece by Steve Hayward, who works for National Review and AEI, which is heavily funded by oil companies, and has previously tried to bribe scientists to deny global warming (by offering 10K for a paper doing so)? I suspect the Hayward piece. You’re right that combating global warming will be difficult. However, Iain Murray was offering a shoddy, smug, bad faith argument based on a undergraduate class study to essentially say it’s pointless to try. I’d say he deserves to be mocked. I’m not as familiar with Hayward, but Murray sure ain’t on the side of the folks working to deal with this serious crisis.
