I'm sure it was strictly unintentional....
Democratic Rep. Nick Rahall (WV03) assures Chris Matthews that democracy is alive and well and that the process is working out as it should.
These primaries have been good for the Democratic Party. It shows the diversity in our party. It shows the strength that we can have a difference of opinion and yet unite, which I fully believe we’ll do. Not to have that Alfred Hitchcock scenario at the convention, Chris, but rather to go into that convention united as a party, ready to beat John McBush this fall, I mean, McCain.

I giggled. :)
John McBush ... There is truth in that slip!
McCrazy.
Oh DAMN! Someone give that man a cookie.
Hehehehe. That's how you do THAT.
Once I saw a picture on one of the wingnut blogs, it was a SUV mounted sign, it said: ROVE 08, I think it was just after the Plame affair, and I have to say, it really pushed my buttons, it's just some scumbag KKKonservatives I know, but it was made to piss off the other side. The more I think of it, the more Obamas race for the white house draws similarities, I think that a socialist/progressive black man, although it will chafe all the wingnuts a treat, once the faux news can 'o' shit gets a good shake and the rev. Wright swiftboaters have finished with him we'll almost certainly be looking at another term with control in the house and senate and nothing else.
Is "McBush" on the McList??!
Yes, I believe it was unintentional, too.
But that shouldn't stop us from shouting it to the heavens frequently, over and over, all the time!
The AP just called MS-01 for Travis Childers.
Woooooo! Three for three! GOP is toast this Nov.
Rahall is my congressman, all he's worried about is pork for the area and coal..
I laughed my ass off. Very funny..john mc bush
McBush. Love it.
yeah. just like when Dick Armey made reference to Barney Fag. just a slip of the tongue.
KansasCityFaGt @ 11:
You compare that to what Dickhead Army said?
Were you born ignorant or did you evolve into your ignorance?
love it!
McBush huh? This guy must be reading the blogs!
I think the best part of the Rep.'s statement is that if the GOP noise machine attempts to raise a flag over the issue, they have to acknowledge it.
If this was intentional, it was a very clever ploy at turning a GOP dirty trick back on the GOP.
Bravo, Rep. Rahall. More "slips" like this, please.
Yes, just what we need is a McBush to continue the wonderful legacy of this abomination of an administration.
Did you know that many in the Bush Administration have been charged with war crimes? Read it now!
Yeah, just what we need. More fucking Bush; McSame, McBush, McFuckUs and the world!
It is not just a commitment, but a fact, that the Dem's are going to beat the hell out of Senator McCain.
Senator Obama is loading up his war chest and gearing up for combat, with this thug.
Every time we go to the filling station, the pharmacy, the grocery store and get the little tiny minimum wage pay checks. It reminds many of us, of George W Bush and all of the republicans, who put many of the American people in that deep dark hole of hell.
It is so unclear of where they are getting any kind of polling data that could possible give Senator McCain, positive data, that he could beat Senator Obama or Hillary is simply another issue this right wing media has.
motorfingaz @ 12:
I did eat many paint chips as a child but I stand by the comparison. Both were faked fuck-ups. Oops, Did I really just voice a cheeky innuendo that was intentional and make an half-assed attempt to make it seem unintentional?
Oh yea your slips showing ,
Mc bush , love it . Go Mciver and this time dont come back .
I laughed. John McBush indeed.
John McBush!
Rep. Rahall had it right the first time.
Obama, Osama?
McCain, McBush.
If the GOP is going to play childish then the DNC must follow suit. This is all a children's game anyways, the real danger that lies ahead of us is unknown to many.
Frankly, I'm not convinced that this was an unintentional "slip of the tongue" -- but that doesn't mean that I see anything wrong with it if it wasn't. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire...and since the GOP hasn't shown much hesitation in the past to make "unintentional" (riiiiiiight) comparisons between "Obama/Osama" and "Barack Hussein Obama", I say that comments like "John McBush" are fair game. Even though there are times when it's not a good idea to stoop to your opponent's level, there are also times when fighting fair works against you.
Sure! Why not? It can slip out as easily as "Osama" does.
The lesson from the Kerry fiasco is Dems have to fight fire with fire. Weakness won't win elections in today's brutal redneck repig envirnonment.
Very McFunny. I McThink this should McHappen a little more McFrequently. McHonest McMistake. McOops!

Isn't that precisely what we find so repugnant and distasteful about the Republicans? Can we not strive to be better than them in deed AND in word?
Tom @ 28:
Let me ask you this question...
At this point, if "striv[ing] to be better in deed AND in word" means that Obama loses the election, would you still consider it worthwhile? Much as we might wish it were not so, that's unfortunately what it very well might come down to. The GOP has shown themselves quite willing -- practically eager -- to play dirty over the last two elections as well as the months leading up to this one, so there's absolutely no reason to believe that they'll behave themselves this time around. If anything, perhaps we should expect it to escalate -- especially considering the fact that the first strong contender for the presidency from the African-American community represents a major historical landmark, and also considering the fact that there's a growing sense of desperation within the GOP. In the same way than any animal becomes more dangerous when it is wounded or cornered and has nothing left to lose, people who are desperate are more dangerous than those who have several options to choose from. At this point, the GOP has reason to be desperate -- because they have (heaven knows why) chosen McCain as their presumptive nominee in spite of his similarities to an increasingly unpopular president and are trying without much success to remove the albatross that is Bush from around McCain's neck. That's actually one of the reasons why I don't object to Rahall calling McCain "McBush"...because it happens to be the TRUTH, whereas the GOP's remarks equating Barack Obama with Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden are an out-and-out lie.
There are times when people who are determined to fight dirty only end up hurting themselves more than anyone else -- but if the past two elections are any indication, that doesn't seem to be the case here. Politics is, after all, a very dirty business -- and considering the effects that power tends to have on the weak-willed and/or the weak-minded, it sometimes seems to me that politics is almost inherently dirty. When you're dealing with someone who's determined to fight dirty and is to all appearances succeeding, there are often only two ways to deal with such a person -- give up the struggle, or use his own tactics to beat him at his own game. If the GOP is determined to make this a no-gloves, no-holds-barred, all-bets-are-off battle, then we'll only hurt ourselves by playing nicey-nice.
He McGot it right!!
You just gotta love it.
How many times has Bush called it the Democrat [sic] Party?
Or how often does Faux News use patently false chyrons - like "slipping" in labeling Foley as "Rep. Mark Foley D-FL" or Craig as "Sen. Larry Craig D-ID"?
Sauce for the goose...
Tom @ 28:
I have to admit I don't think that that these sort of games should be part of the American democratic process. However, it seems to me that this cat has long since been out of the bag. The Republicans use every dirty trick in the book -- "Barack's middle name is Hussein!" "Did you know that Obama is secretly a Muslim?!" "Oh my, just look at that angry black preacher. I'll bet Barack Obama is an angry black man too! Unless he thoroughly denounces his ties to the African American community! Nudge nudge, wink wink." Fair play is all well and good under normal circumstances, but the future of this country is at stake. Lives are at stake. Hell, the whole damn world is at stake. While what this guy said was not polite, I think we can forgive Democrats for being "not polite" as long as they don't cross the line into outright slander and falsehood.
Also? Just how often our Democrats being given air time to combat Republican manipulation of public image? As Winston Churchill said (IIRC), "A lie gets half way around the world before the truth can get its pants on." The Democrats need these snappy comebacks and jibs if they're going to keep up. You don't sit down and try to lecture a bully on pacifism while he's beating on you -- you push him back just far enough to get some breathing room and then you do something sensible about it. As long as the Democrats don't have to lie, there's no reason they can't take the kid gloves off now and then.
It was absolutely intentional and exactly the right thing to say. Why pretend like something so obvious AND so obviously true was a mistake? What's the right going to say? You've insulted McCain? Well if it's an insult to call McCain, "Bush" then what does that say about Bush???
It's an insult to Bush? Then you're not voting for McCain, right?
chaos4700 @ 32:
Your response rocks!
EMPY @ 27:
MCLOL!
Did he really say that? Hilarious!
CafeenMan @ 33:
Exactly right. Equating the Republican nominee to the pResident is not like comparing the Democratic front runner (Obama) to our nation's #1 terrorist (Osama).
Tom @ 29:
I agree with you, but I was just commenting on what his likely thought process was. All of this Dem/Repub politics is a big joke to me anyways.... there are globalists in both parties and both parties are not in favor of America's best interests.
Can someone clue me in as to what the fuck the "Hitchcock scenario" is?
