Unless you’re from their native Dublin, the Devlins are probably best known for the music on Six Feet Under and other American TV shows. But they were a great alt-pop band way before TV music supervisors discovered them. Their debut album, Drift (1993) included, “Someone To Talk To,” a relatively little-known gem:

I hope that this wasn’t one of their better tracks; it sounded like wallpaper. Gerry and The Pacemakers would’ve been a better choice. Live and learn, I guess.
The Devlins, eh? I’ve not heard their music before, but I like it.

yes, wallpaper does describe this song rather well, competent but bland.
Big Country, Pogues or REM much more fun
For Marvin and Jackie!

Love the Devlins. One of the soundtracks of my post - divorce period…..
The music on The Devlins Drift Album helped me through many a heartbreak and lonely time.
Their entire catalogue is great.
This particular cut of “Somebody to Talk To” is not the on I have on my copy of Drift.
It sounds a bit garbled, probably the connection, I guess.
“Alone in the Dark” is another great tune.
Irish song writing is always good.
Another band with a similar sound, IMO, is Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Sorry about your mom - every anniversary of a loved one’s death is painful.
Song Sung Blue is a great tune and I play it on my piano when there is nobody in the vicinity (must be considerate of my cats and neighbours). Early day tomorrow, goodnight all.
I don’t know if anyone else felt this, but I noted this was a great tribute to women–thanks, Devlins. I haven’t found a music video before that I felt was so powerfully feminist.
I’m not about to post Toto’s ‘Mama’ about this (doesn’t the old’ BBC have a nickname?), so all I can do is quote David Peel and the Lower East Side -
“Oh mother
Where is my father
Where is my brother
They’re at war”
sorry about your mom lafin gas…love the 6 feet under music….thank you…
BOO!!!
They were more famous here (Ireland) for their track “Waiting”… I don’t know this one…
I’d forgotten about this song. I really used to like it, but as someone else said, this is not the version I remember.
Can’t bear watching everyone of your posts with the same tired still images moving toward the foreground. For heaven sake STOP with this boring technique already.
