He disappoints. I saw him in concert with Todd Rundgren a few years back. As Todd is Godd, he stayed around and signed autographs and took pictures with his adoring fans. Joe "Powder" Jackson saw fit to climb in his waiting Chevrolet Suburban without so much as a wave to his fans who waited for an hour after the concert.
Joe did play some MEAN piano in a kick-ass version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," with Todd and a string quartet by the name of "Ethel" however!
I still consider Body and Soul to be one of the greatest albums ever recorded. He was brilliant for the choice of recording location for its acoustics that gave the album an absolutely engulfing rich sound. Its one of the few albums that I listen to regularly.

Love JJ too!
Mr. Jackson won me over when i saw concert footage of him about 12 years ago.
The song 'Everything gives you cancer' has never left my subconscious.
Joe rules..."Is she really going out with him"?Awesome back then, better with age I think.
Interesting.
I've never paid too much attention to him, but I guess he's always had a jazz sensibility.
I remember when he copied a Sonny Rollins album cover for his "Body and Soul" album.

He's great.
A trio; with piano, bass, drums, the drummer vocalizes, what's not cool bout that?

I just ran out and bought this because of this posting.
And, Good Bad Boy just blew my mind.
Incredible music! King Pleasure Time was another gem.
Check out his web site and his opinions about smoking and global warming. The guy's a whack job!!!
Great record. See my review here.

Me too! The bass playing on that whole album was phenomenal. "Got the Time" was my fave.
The Jumpin' Jive album was another good example of JJ's love of the oldies. Very cool. Maybe not in print on CD.
Joe Jackson
"Got the Time"
Time, time, time. Tick tick ticking in my heard.
