It will soon dawn on people (given the current situation) that the U.S. financial system is one big shell game. That is, after all what fractional reserve banking is all about. For every dollar a bank takes in from deposits, it can lend out ten. They only need to hold 10% in reserve. If people go to withdraw their money all at the same time (as in Indymac) that bank becomes insolvent and shuts down. Not even the Romans operated in such a reckless manner.

Shocking. Never saw that coming? Really?

Larry Wilmore had it right on TDS:

“Americans are only voting for the chance to vote for a black President. Once they get to the general, I think they’ll find a 73 year old white republican is just about the kind of change they’re ready for.”

I’m 64 and had an opportunity to take a foreign language. I went to a new high school that started at grades 8 through 10 and progressed upward. In the 8th grade we were required to take an introductory class in foreign languages. There was only one instructor and I didn’t like her because I thought she was elitist so I didn’t pursue any other instruction. How I wish I would have.

“In late 1997, McCain authored and introduced the Newspaper Ownership Act, which allowed print and broadcast media interests to mingle by allowing companies to own both newspapers and radio or television stations in a single outlet. Claiming that “diversity of viewpoints is as close as clicking on the Internet,” McCain’s bill caused further consolidation among traditional media outlets.”

the article is enlightening, published may 28, 2000. shocking really how much has been tossed down the rabbit hole. unfortunately for senator mccain it IS “as close as clicking on the internet.”

I wonder how many will be holding up “McCain=Bush” signs at the KC Union Station Thursday. If I still lived there I would be going. Hopefully an army of old ladies will show to take on the McRentaCops.
Also, there are tons of really misinformed republitards that post on the KCStar site - www.kansascity.com. For every headline that comes out you can post a response - no sign up required. Kind of fun to beat up on them.

Remember that polls can be manipulated by demographics. If they poll in heavily republican areas, it will bring down the Obama numbers. They are trying to create a perception that the electorate are divided.

Come on X, that is the most racist cartoon that I can remember. The pundits are trying to change the message that they were portraying. Nobody is talking about the story of the cover. I mean, if they have a cover, isn’t there a story inside the magazine?

I thought the art conveyed our personal displeasure quite well.
