Check out this clever fundraising animation (and yes, it’s in the classic style of xkcd). At presstime Kansas State Rep. hopeful Sean Tevis was within his goal of 3000 donations of $8.34 by tonight.

“Bush Memorial Sewage Treatment Plant” makes ballot !!

Voters to decide: Bush memorial sewage plant?

(07-17) 14:57 PDT SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco voters will be asked to decide whether to name a city sewage plant in honor of President Bush, after a satiric measure qualified for the November ballot today.

Backers of the measure, who for several months circulated a petition to place the measure on the ballot, turned in more than 12,000 signatures on July 7, said organizer Brian McConnell. The Department of Elections today informed those supporters, the self-proclaimed Presidential Memorial Commission, that they had enough valid signatures - a minimum of 7,168 registered San Francisco voters - to qualify for the November ballot, he said.

McConnell, who came up with the idea over beers with friends, often donned an Uncle Sam outfit to drum up support for the petition. Other signature gatherers - all volunteers - often carried around an American flag and blasted patriotic music from a boom box to attract attention. He said today that the campaign to pass the measure will be an equally grassroots effort.

The measure, if passed by a majority of voters, would rename the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant the George W. Bush Sewage Plant. McConnell said the intent is to remember the Bush administration and what the group sees as the president’s mistakes, including the war in Iraq.

open gov’t? did someone say “open gov’t”?

we won’t have open gov’t until we pass a law saying all public officials, lobbyists, international bankers and old-world royalists are required to submit to 24/7 surveillance, available free through the internet for every man, woman and child in america.

wouldn’t be a bad idea, actually.

I thought it very interesting that the earlier threads had over 160 comments for the Viagra vs. birth control and over 120 comments on Larry Craig on the gas nozzle. The others only had very few, including Al Gore’s on getting to a renewable energy system in 10 years. Is sex so prominent in our lives?

Au contraire Madam Bag Lady, Bush has been a huge success. He and his cronies have killed many tens of thousands and raided the Treasury for vast sums. He has broken every law in sight, institutionalized the demise of the Constitution and made you his accomplice in the process.

You are every bit as much a criminal as he is.

True, his polling numbers are at record lows, but yours are even worse.

And as his arch accomplice Cheney says: SO!?

I’m trying to ignore politics and enjoy the Tour de France, keep an eye on the phenomenal performance of Christian Vandevelde, of Chicago, who is racing for the brand new U.S. sponsored Team Columbia. He is riding in the top 10 with a real chance of making the podium in Paris.

Stage to watch: Stage 17 on July 23rd.

I just read that. Holy fabrication, Batman! Thank goodness that Chertoff (Homeland Insecurity Waffen SS commander) is on it. Never fear, we’ve got them on the run. The insurgency is in it’s death throws.

Sniff, sniff, I smell “false flag” event ahead.

Does this mean we have to kill them here because we didn’t kill them there? And if it’s true maybe they’ll be holding classes at our local community college under the title, “Freedom Fighting (err…I mean Terrorism) 102: The Manufacture of IED’s.”

From the “Kettle Black” File:

“You know, God bless him, bless his heart, president of the United States, a total failure, losing all credibility with the American people on the economy, on the war, on energy, you name the subject,” Pelosi replied. She then tsk-tsked Bush for “challenging Congress when we are trying to sweep up after his mess over and over and over again.”

anyways, in non-home-run-derby related news, looks like July 25 is the date set for impeachment hearings, with Conyers’ awesome title of “the imperial presidency of George W. Bush and possible legal responses.” this is very exciting. what do you guys think will come of this?

George Bush has been the most successful president ever. He’s been the best president of all time. To about 5% of the population of the country that is. His “base” is very, very pleased with the job that the Bush team has done for them. Those 5% have seen their incomes skyrocket. They’ve been teased befor George took over. Bill Clinton promised them the stars but only gave them the moon.
Katrina a disaster? Nope, Bushes pals have made a ton of money there.
Iraq a shambles? Not on your life. Money is being made hand over fist in that little bbq.
Yes, to the only people that really matter to Bush and his cronies, there’s been nothing wrong whatsoever with the last 8 years.
I’m sure that they’d just love to carry it on into the distant future.

Man, I want to donate to his cause, but I can’t, cause I’m Canadian.

Would it be illegal to do a donation exchange? I’ll donate $25 to the local SPCA if someone else donates the same amount to Sean Tevis. The person doing this gets no real benefit from it, but the knowledge that their money went twice as far.
