John McCain Proves Himself To Be ‘Hollow Caustic’

What's with the "American Ethanol" advertisements on C&L? (top right of the site)
Don't you guys know that Ethanol made from corn is barely viable as a fuel supplement, and has driven people around the world into starvation from increased food costs?
Anyway, speaking about throwing a bone for some media types...how about featuring some Hippy Gourmet segments on C&L? Easy enough to link to at www.YouTube.com/HippyGourmet

Why does the Bush administration hate the US workforce?
U.S. Rushes to Change Workplace Toxin Rules
Political appointees at the Department of Labor are moving with unusual speed to push through in the final months of the Bush administration a rule making it tougher to regulate workers' on-the-job exposure to chemicals and toxins.
The agency did not disclose the proposal, as required, in public notices of regulatory plans that it filed in December and May. Instead, Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's intention to push for the rule first surfaced on July 7, when the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) posted on its Web site that it was reviewing the proposal, identified only by its nine-word title.
. . . .
The department's speed in trying to make the regulatory change contrasts with its reluctance to alter workplace safety rules over the past 7 1/2 years. In that time, the department adopted only one major health rule for a chemical in the workplace, and it did so under a court order.
ldzppln @ 6:
How would they like it if we made their workplace a little less safe. They don't really need the secret service, do they?
The Pickens Plan
Do you all remember when Harry Reid said in April of 2007 that we were losing in Iraq? The repugs, and many Dems were all over him and he has been associated with that remark ever since. Well, this tidbit comes from McCain's interview with Katie Couric the other day:
“Couric: Sen. Obama also told me, Sen. McCain, that the money spent on those additional troops, on the surge, might have been more effective had it gone to Afghanistan or even to a better energy policy in the United States. What’s your response?
McCain: The fact is we had four years of failed policy. We were losing. We were losing the war in Iraq. The consequences of failure and defeat of the United States of America in the first major conflict since 9/11 would have had devastating impacts throughout the region and the world.”

tick..tick..tick..tick..tick..tick.....

so now it's more important to help pickens with his investments than it is to have a broader search for real solutions. I'm quite sure he owns a lot of the companies involved in his ideas. and of course, the corporate media will make sure to act as his megaphone.

PASS IT AROUND
I haven't researched the guy, but is anyone wondering if McCain might pick T. Boone Pickens as his running mate? Pickens is running an ad on MSNBC that looks notoriously like a campaign ad, and I can't help but wonder if it is (a) Picken's way of soliciting McCain for the VP slot, and/or (b) an end-run-around-election-laws self-paid advertisement used to introduce Pickens to the U.S. before he is named as the VP nominee. I saw an interview clip with Pickens where he stated that, while he didn't agree with the full gamut of McCain's policies, he is a life long Republican and would be voting for McCain.
swampfox @ 18:
Tyree, why did you change your name?

Keith Olbermann on MSNBC
Inside the McBrain
Ok, I'm too busy to blog extensively these days, but if I've been paying attention, McCain and his McCampaign people have decided to communicate to the public...........
(a) Barack Obama's position against increased drilling on American lands or off American shores is the cause of high gas prices.
(b) Allowing oil companies to begin the process of such increased drilling, the fruits of which will be owned by those companies and sold on a world oil market just like the rest of the planet's waning supply of oil, will magically bring the cost of gasoline down to the prices the preceded the Iraq war.
(c) If you don't believe (b), just ask the oil companies, and their word will prove it to you.
(d) All good things in Iraq are the result of the surge, including events that preceded it.
(e) Only John McCain had the courage to support the surge despite common political wisdom that it would cost him the election, which, in turn, means he deserves to win the election.
(f) We have won the war in Iraq. Obama's insistence that the troops come home within a year and a half indicates his unwillingness to recognize that we have won in Iraq. Therefore, we must stay there.
(g) Failing to understand the basic differences between Sunni Muslims, Shia Muslims, al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas and each of their respective relations with Iran in no way undermines McCain's knowledge of how to fight the war on terror.
(h) The fact that world leaders, including the Iraqis, have acknowledged that Obama's judgment and plans vis-a-vis Iraq are not just sound, but desirable, in no way bolsters the argument that Obama is qualified to become the commander-in-chief. The fact that McCain was shot down in Vietnam decades ago proves that he is qualified to become the commander-in-chief.
(i) To question the latter assertion in (h) is to denigrate McCain's actual military service in Vietnam, to Swiftboat him.
(j) Czechoslovakia remains a major player on the world stage, and Iraq borders Pakistan.
(k) McCain's greatest asset is his understanding of foreign policy.
To continue to assert such claims, the McCain camp is betting that by November, enough Americans will believe them for McCain either to win the election or to steal it without being overly conspicuous.
Please tell me that even Americans aren't that fucking stupid.

odanny @ 26:
this is still about wealth and not about productivity or creativity. Is pickens going to raise all boats in his wake? no! he will continue profiting. this is not about a solution to the energy problem, but about profits for pickens. settling for another corporate solution will keep us where we are - in deep shit.
a word from president john f. kennedy
mcSurge video worth watching anbar awakening started prior to surge....good gems for most of us will get but other people that have a different life it's much easier for them to believe mccain that the SURGE was successful cuz of him and he invented the surge

CoIntelPro for Pronktastic Victory Over SCLM, DIEBOLD, ESS and SEQUOIA! @ 31:
Whoever can get some results as to solving the energy problem would be a plus. His interest will create more investment for a solution. Let's keep an open mind about this.

McCain invented the surge right after he invented the wheel.
Ron @ 34:
when prices drop, you can pry mind open with a feather. until then, there will be no acceptable profit-based solution provided by a corporation. they want to sell you stuff NOW, so you can buy stuff NOW so they can profit NOW. there are plenty of scientists and plenty of other ideas than pickens'. I'd like to see more. his 'alternatives' are too convenient for me. and when did he become such a great scientist?
FEMA's trying to avoid responsibility again, this time over those toxic trailers. Speaking of toxic, some French nuclear reactor workers have only been "slightly" contaminated. Global warming expands the Gulf dead zone. Cancer does appear to be linked to cell phone use, while on-line banking ain't safe.
May i be excused from prying anyone's mind open with a feather? It sounds like a highly skilled profession to me. :)

you're scaring me.
CoIntelPro for Pronktastic Victory Over SCLM, DIEBOLD, ESS and SEQUOIA! @ 36:
Point taken, but it will still take investment. We can't look at it as a situation that someone can't profit because someone always will. Hopefully, we will all benefit from it. I agree that it will require more investigation, but the ones that are trying to drill or control oil leases should be under more scrutiny.
kali yuga @ 15:
i see same stuff different day....i addressed this the other night. many don't like what bush has pulled and gotten away with....i'm sure your more interested in talking obama vs. pinning the tail on the real guilty donkey(bush/cheney). why obama's legal counsel said they would go after the "most egregious" let's go directly to obama and ask.....bush and his DOJ legal team have used the "war" to go after their agenda.
a crime is a crime i get that......i don't like dirty politics
i'm not sure we know absolutly(100%) what obama is going to do.

I NEED ALL YOUR HELP TO SEE IF I AM THE ONLY ONE NOTICING THE FOLLOWING:
1. The flag on the military uniform is being shown 'backwards' on some sleeves
.
2. In watching hearings on C-Span, DoD officials' name card said "HON. Chertoff" instead of the usual "Mr. Chertoff".
3. Late but noteworthy: The unit assigned (now dismantled) to find Bin Laden referred to him as 'UBL-Usama Bin Laden'. How and when did they change it to 'Osama Bin Laden?
4. There has been NO mention of Saddam's doubles. Where are they?
1-3 seem signs of attempt of programming or control our thinking by slight changes that are not immediately noticed until we start really thinking.
Just wondering all......

NOTE about post #47: Chertoff is Homeland security, but the name card for Dod officials also showed 'Hon.' in front of their last name. It was the Appropriations Committee meeting I was watching. Senator R.Byrd is the Chairman.
As far as I know, it is a new tactic. If someone agrees, please tell me what you think.

yes! oil is down to $12*.00/barrel. and gass will come down, just like it did in 2006. yes, it actually did come down until after the election. I believe they waited until mid January to pick up the pace again.

I remember that very clearly. Bush was running on the platform that everybody was happy because gas prices had gone down.
thomas @ 58:
i'm not absolute about this but one of the issues i've heard about nuclear is gettingthe new reactors/facilities insured...also investors for projects like this don't want any risk. often this ends up being a social project. of course there are other issues like environmental.
ron you may not believe this but thiers people here that dont like me, thats why i changed my name , see i was an ok guy when we all hated bush but now that im not an obama fan well you know! but its ok im still in the only guy worth voteing for dennis kucinich, you know the guy who stands up for impeaching bush, lord love the little kooch!

Oh i forgot, also fear. Gas prices and fear.
Now McCain is running on the platform that whatever he says is true unless he miscorrects it and the his miscorrection is true until he decides to go back to his first mistatement.
That and the solitude factor.
If you want real honest to god privacy go to a McCain appearance.

Ron @ 69:

Hi Tyree. :)
constituent @ 64:
the biggest problem is our current, aging nukular implementation. essentially, the radioactivity poisons everything, and I mean everything, including the 'containment' and they are talking $3ooMil at least per reactor. the radioactivity also breaks down everything, and I mean everything at the subatomic level, so ther is decay at the subatomic level.
any proposed nuclear solution will pretty much guarantee the slow poisoning of this country on a far greater scale.
It's totally unviable as a long-term solution.
