John McCain being made to look, um, 25 years younger in campaign ad

C&L posted earlier this week about FOX News possibly trying to make McCain look a little younger, well now it appears that the McCain campaign is going out of their way to make John look like a new man—25 years younger or more with this campaign ad.

One Man has the Experience.

One Man has the Courage.

One Man has our Trust.

John McCain for President.

Check out this ad that was picked up off of this article Germany’s English  paper called The Local. At the very end there is the above graphic to represent what John McCain looks like.   Hmmmm, looks like a completely different man to me. One that is much younger. Is this running only in foreign markets? I emailed the McCain camp for comment.

This ad is on 24-7 in Ohio, where I live.

Have you all seen the summer of love McCain ad? OMG. Hilariously bad.

This is just old footage of him when he served. There’s no manipulation in that.

It was a time of uncertainty, hope and change. The “Summer Of Love.” Half a world away, another kind of love — of country.

John McCain: Shot down. Bayoneted. Tortured. Offered early release, he said, “No.” He’d sworn an oath.
Here’s the text to the summer of love McCain ad, but for the true hilarity effect, you have to see the gyrating hippies:

Home, he turned to public service. His philosophy: before party, polls and self … America. A maverick, John McCain tackled campaign reform, military reform, spending reform. He took on presidents, partisans and popular opinion.

He believes our world is dangerous, our economy in shambles. John McCain doesn’t always tell us what we “hope” to hear. Beautiful words cannot make our lives better.

But a man who has always put his country and her people before self, before politics can.

Don’t “hope” for a better life. Vote for one. McCain.

McCains campaign has got back on track. They are once again delivering a simple message that only morons can grasp. The surge ad sounds a lot like the Kerry attack ads that said “he was before it before he was against it”.

I can see the race starting to tighten up over the next few weeks. With Obama holding a 70% to 20% lead amoung hispanics, and McCain holding a 99% to 1% lead amoung morons.

He’s still too old.

If Rove hadn’t shot him down over Carolina in the 2000 primaries he’d be president likely now.

Blame Rove, not the Viet Cong.

Cheers.

My God, how desperate can they get? I can’t believe people will fall for it, then again, I thought Kerry would win in 2004!

12
Dahgrostab’ph-r-i Says:

The contempt this ad has for the American public is unbelievable! Do they really believe that people will think McCheese is younger simply because they show you footage of him when he was younger? Are they serious? The guy in the ad doesn’t even look like McCain…maybe people will think it’s a young Bob Barr (now that would be funny!)

It was a real lesson in “never underestimate the lowest common denominator”, wasn’t it?

14
P.D. Says:

Dahgrostab’ph-r-i@12, Your right. I think people are much smarter( I hope!) now, than they were in 2004. But the level of the attacks from the McCain camp are down right insulting. This ad proves it.

An English language newspaper in Germany would seem to be the perfect vehicle for Fascist propaganda. American fascist propaganda. I actually think the people of Germany are smarter than the average uninformed American. Did Fox produce this schtick?

He looks like a 100% different guy! I’m not sure but the McNugget campaign must think that peolpe don’t have a concept of time or history. or they think if it’s on TV it must be LIVE.

McCain camp: Obama shortchanged injured troops

WASHINGTON - Republican John McCain’s campaign on Saturday sharply criticized Democratic rival Barack Obama for canceling a visit to wounded troops in Germany, contending Obama chose foreign leaders and cheering Europeans over “injured American heroes.”

I suppose there’s nothing wrong with using old footage, but the ending freeze frame should definitely be current.

A bigger issue perhaps: Isn’t it against the law to use uniformed personnel for partisan purposes?

If it’s too “partisan” for Obama to visit wounded soldiers in an Army hospital, isn’t it also too partisan for McCain to use decades-old footage of uniformed third parties?

24
P.D. Says:

ldzppln@21, Yeah, McCain’s pathetic attempt to use the troops after he had the balls NOT to sign the GI Bill is astonishing! Why can’t people see that! Are they that stupid?

My browser window has just closed 4 times trying to respond to this story. McCain had nothing to do with the summer of love. Young people were rejecting American empire. Unfortunately, the same people in power today were right there in 1975–the same people who are making billions in this administration for contractors in Iraq who are taking our money and killing innocent people. They will do or say anything to keep power. That is exactly what Kerry said in 2004, but nobody heard it.

“One Man has the Experience”

A 95 year old surgeon, no matter how talented and dedicated he has been in his life, should not be given a scalpel. I think this is the point about McCain — no matter how dedicated and experienced he is, his pathetic campaign thus far has suggested that he can no longer ‘cut’ it as president.

These are are the days of lasers in the jungle…A loose association of millionaires and billionaires are running the country (and much of the world) under the guise of an empty suit hologram. They can attenuate his age to marketing tastes.

Don’t know if anyone has said it before about this: I don’t think FOX wasn’t trying to make him appear younger with their mismatched footage, but instead were trying to make him appear able to draw energized crowds (in the 2008 sense, which means more than a woman and a shopping cart).

It’s pretty (hilariously) sad that McCain v2008 is so pathetically unable to draw an energized political rally that the GOP Network has to pull file footage and present it as recent.

They can only TRY to hide his age for only so long. There will be a real difference in the debates. Obama’s height and youth next to McCain’s lack of height and age will be a HUGE contrast.
