An open mic caught Keith Olbermann last night telling Joe Scarborough to get a shovel and dig himself out of the horse crap he was dropping all over the airwaves about how confident the McCain campaign must feel right now. And thus a classic moment in live political news coverage was born.

You could see Joe Schmuck Scar turn red. What an asshat. Go Keith.

That was funny. Scarborough sure changed his tune once Olberman called his bluff.

Ha! Joey Dead Intern knows who the Big Dog at MSNBC is.

Aww, poor baby. For one brief instant, someone treated him with the same disrespect he dishes out to others all the time. He just couldn't let go of the "shovel" comment.

Joe is a pill. Or, his mother should have taken the pill. Either one.

Think Keith will get nominated for some kind of award? Maybe we should make one up and hand it to him. The First Annual 'Palm du Smack-Down' Award for the media. You can only receive it for an honest statement smacking another down for his/her obvious bias. I foresee many years of Liberals receiving this award.

wah! vid not working! wah! why is the economy tanking? wah!

sorry. I'm whining and didn't want to waste it.

Thanks Keith, you just made my day!

HAHAHAHAHA!

Joe Scarborough does spew a lot of bullshit, his Morning Joe show is a joke...not very interesting or exciting.

Keith at least tells it like it is.

GO KEITH!

hah, that was so awkward! I loved it.

it's us against them.....a lot of people criticize k.o. i'm glad he's on our team.

Damn! I can't believe I missed that! Good ole Joe is becomming a punching bag. Rachel won't put up with his shit, and now Keith! Go Keith and Rachel!

Not bad - not for nothing are his initials "KO".

I would love to hear how the Good Doctor Maddow would have handled it.

This trends well.

Thanks Keith, I hope this kick is large enough to get the ball rolling :)

You should have seen the Scarborough/Scxhuster dust-up this AM. Joe's obviously still steaming from KO's putdown last night. He takes it out on Schuster instead. Poor WATB....he obviously doesn't like being challenged on his Republican talking points. I suspect that MS-NBC is going to have to deal with this kind of ugly exchange in front of the camera. I'd give Joe and Pat their walking papers to push their ideological agenda on a more viewer friendly channel.

Thank you - Thank you ! (Keith)
CAN YOU SAY AKWARD !!

It was simply one of the greatest ever live moments. I could believe what I was hearing (while adjusting my blinds, standing on a chair- I ALMOST FELL OFF)

Go OBAMA !

this is why the only news show i watch is keiths

journalists are whimps as a whole

joe is a repub wants mc cain

the have mores need repubs to keep their pockets lined in a declining economy

soon will only be have mores and have nots

capitalism demands that to be so

best kept secret in america

awesome.... why does Joe still a have a job there, anyway? Does he have dirt on NBC executives?

Abrams in the AM! that's my verdict.

(sigh)

Chris also slapped down Pukecanon over Pat's "lack of Christianity" remark. I love it when these right wing tools get put in their place.

Gotta love this shovel to shovel convention coverage...or, when push comes to shovel.

Joe, shovel off ya hoser...

hahahaha wtg KO

Suggestion to all the people hanging out in downtown Denver: if you are standing behind the MSNBC booth and Joe is on the panel, chant: "You killed an intern!" soccer crowd-style.

haha. scarborough suddenly became realistic after the shovel bit.

I saw that this morning. Joe acted the total ass and you could tell the others on the set were uncomfortable while he was ranting away at David.

If we could harness the energy in the hot air that Scarborough has spewed in the last 24 hours, we could light the whole fu*king convention hall for the rest of the week.

That was never proven, she just ended up dead in his office with no explanation and a full cover-up by the media.

The MSM are hiringlings, bought and paid for by gov't! Bush white house spends money to try to tell us how to think. So in other words according to Bush money trumps Life and liberty, Kills innocents and locks up dissenters for money.

The guilt makes him a bigger prick than a typical repukelican. Maybe one day, while on the golf course with O.J., he'll confess.

A shovel wouldn't be big enough to clean up after olbermann he is such a crap head it would take a bulldozer. WORST PERSON IN THE UNIVERSE.....OLBERMANN the man you thinks he is somebody.

Give Joe's show to Mike Barnicle. At least he attempts to stay toward the middle of the road. He's laid back so he's not too much, first thing in the morning.

Neal Cavuto (sp?) of Fox had Don Imus on the phone this afternoon. Seems Don thinks Obama is a "phony" and an "empty suit". I don't know what Obama has done to tick Imus off. Of course Imus also said that McCain is crazy but that he loved McCain and was going to vote for him.

Joe is stunningly, breathtakingly full of shit.

Maybe Joe could use that shovel and find her.

Just make sure rubberface doesn't hit someone over the head with it.

Come on guys, lighten up on Joe! Compared to his former life as right wing attack dog he's grown up and is fairly tolerable. He's still in some sense learning the ropes as a commentator, but has emerged as a conservative who doesn't actually hate or mock liberals at every turn. He'll even give credit where it's due on occasion. Watching his is still better than EVERY other conservative's show and, in any case, he's got Mika to balance him out. Personally, I like their banter. It's fairly innocuous and in any case, as liberals we ought to have some view into the minds of the ideological opposition. If it's between hearing it from Scar and either O'Reilly (shudder) or Carlson, then pour me some Joe.

I DO think he crossed the line with Schuster this morning though, just like I thought Keith did last night. They do a lot of smacking down on Mornin' Joe and msnbc in general, but both were a tad personal.

Jo Says:

Joe is a pill. Or, his mother should have taken the pill. Either one.

********

in fact he is the result of her taking the pill ................

Is it possible that Joe and Pat are getting paid/or promised employment from other sources to keep spewing such nonsense? While it's ok to point out arguments for supporting repubs, just seems they are engaging in extreme hi-spin mode. Then again, there are a lot of people who buy their bs.

Chant it anyway. That's how smears work when they use them: say something untrue, be blameless (what are they going to do to a crowd?), and let them counteract them. It'll work with the Scar, because we know he has a thin skin.

All day long on msnbc the talking heads just play musical chairs. One starts the day as the host and has the others on. Then the next hour one of the others play the host and the host of the previous hour is now on the set of guests for this hour. They rotate around all day. Nothing new is said from first thing in the morning until when Keith's show comes on.

So, Olberman will be suspended from the airwaves for saying "Jesus" and Scarborough will thus be proven "right" about everything.

Shuster gives it to Joe all the time. When I can watch (stomach) the show Shuster will stand up to Joe. He gave it to him over torture big time. I loved it.

Now if Keith would only tell that to Tom Brokaw.

Come on guys, lighten up on Joe! Compared to his former life as right wing attack dog he’s grown up and is fairly tolerable.

You're kidding, right?? This guy is an assinine, bloviating, mentally disturbed cretin.

Thank god for guys like KO. He's coming under a lot of heat lately and both the Left and Right are doing their best to smear and diminish him. He and Jack Cafferty are really the only two who speak their mind.

Forgive me for going ot here but I have a problem. It just started this afternoon. When I type something into google search, a little screen drops down telling me how many hits that word or words has gotten. I have never seen it do that before. Does it happen to anyone else and does anyone know how I can stop it from happening?

God, I'm tired of this. Somehow the Worldwide Wrestling Federation became the style guide for 24-hour news. It may keep the lowest common denominator titillated and tuned in, but it's just boring to me. JS? PLONK.

i'd personally like to see less tabloid and maybe more educational format like compare mccain and obama's
taxation proposals and healthcare policy.....i watch msnbc but they need to be careful.....it's getting to where i can only watch charlie rose and feel satisfied that people were able to speak with little interruption.

ROFL....it's about time someone besides Rachel starts calling out Joe's BS. He is such a shill it is ridiculous. I am surprised he didn't pull off his mic and leave the set.

Is this the future of television?

God help us.

More like Morning Ted. As in Ted Baxter. As in Scarborough is.

HAH! Called on his bullshit and he totally had to change his tune. He stuck to the same basic tack, but at least he stopped sounding like a bloody cheerleader for McCain.

Hey, Scar: if you want to pretend to be a newsperson, you have to at least TRY to pretend to be objective, DOOOORK!

Love Joes schpeel about how confident the McCain campaign feels. What else is he going to say? What else would they say?

"Were going to lose our ass. We are so doomed. We dont have a prayer"

They should say that, it would so flock the base to the polls. *snicker*

You've been Olberpwned.

Go Keith--speaking truth to idiocy. Scarborough---what an overrated, self important hack.

As much as I love KO (he's a hero to me); as much as I want Obama to beat McCain (I'll be so depressed if we have another 4 or 8 years of Repuglican rule, and I am absolutely sick of it); I think Joe Scarborough is right. I personally have never been so optimistic that I thought that Obama would be a cakewalk. If there is one thing Repugs are kings at, it is yelling and screaming, spreading lies, dirty tricks, and negative campaigning...and unfortunately, Rove is the king of kings when it comes to this crap.....and, unfortunately, there are still too many out there who are affected by fear.

We haven't seen anything, yet, from the negative ads coming from McCain, and while I also think we haven't seen anything yet coming from Obama, it's going to be very close all the way to the end. I won't be happy until the election is over with (and only then will be happy if Obama wins).

I thought we might lose these rethuglican b@stards for a week but everytime I turn on any channel they have one of them on or they are talking about Clinton. The media is for McSame more than the RNC is for McSame.

Anyone have the video of MSNBC's panel discussion after the Michelle Obama speech last night? Rachel Maddow smacked down Pat Buchanan, subtly, but hard.

Shelly H @ 54:

[Deleted post. Trolling for McPoints]

the problem from my view is that mccain is no longer a 'maverick' but he is evolving into a NEOCON....there will be more wars my friends and we could be their 100 a 1000 the public doesn't care as long as there are no casualties. if you are (R) the fiscally responsible party has me somewhat perplexed when i see the deficit, the
fallen dollar 40% last six yrs.,no-bid contracts,unitary
hiring in the DOJ......the list goes on signing statements
veto...the republicans no longer believe in small government they just sell that notion. bailouts now to financial institutions that's the government interfering.
mccain telling us we're all georgians...is more Nation
building......i mean no disrespect but your wrong this time....i'm also interested if mccain is the better candidate why didn't he beat out bush in 2000 the weak candidate....did you vote for mccain then?

Look, I'd just be happy if they just reported the facts. They can't do it though, they've already written their script months ago and they're going to stick to it. ("the Democrats are in disarry! It's panic in the streets, ladies and gentlemen! The Clintons will have their revenge! etc,..."

Joe did a good job of digging out.

I don't know... I'm glad Keith got in Joe's face, but Joe got the last and longest word, and Keith never followed up to jump on Joe's rebuttal. You could say the shovel line got under Joe's skin and he couldn't let go of it, but you could also say he was throwing it back in Keith's face.

Keith's failure to follow up made his remark seem like a potshot rather than a smackdown.

I think it would take more than one shovel to clean up the crap Scar was putting out there....'Sources close to the McCain Campaign tell ME...Sources close to the Obama campaign tell ME'...He's trying to sound like he's got all the info and the whole time he's making it up as he goes a long.

Keith and Rachel are smart and quick enough, I'd like to see them do it. Off the top of my head:
-...if not ***arrogance***, then at least a contentment...
-...smashmouth politics (that the democrats aren't capable of)...
-tight race
-[Obama] campaign that could. not. lose...
-McCain campaign leaning forward...

Any more? Come on Joe. Admit you're a tool and a right-wing mouthpiece and we could at least respect that you're just doing your job for the Republicans.

Shelly H @ 54:

Senator McCain, as a maverick, can fight the big government tendencies of both the Liberals and Conservatives, decreasing earmarks, reigning in spending, and lowering taxes so that each American can work in his family's interest, rather than the government's interest.

HAHAHAHAHA. Funny, funny, funny.

Actually, we did tax and spend our way into prosperity. It was called the nineties. But thank you for the canned platitudes, come by again soon.

And speaking of Rachel... she would definitely have followed up instead of letting Joe steal the round. I need to search YouTube for some convention commentary from Rachel -- it'd do my heart good. Even better would be to see it posted here, as natthedem requested.

Will the religious right-wing nut-jobs jump on Joe for repeatedly taking the Lords name in vain!?!*

*Question is posed rhetorically.

Expect the right to go ballistic over Keith using the Lord's name in vain. It's as bad as Jesse Jackson's use of the N-word.

Blasphemy makes baby Jesus cry.

I suddenly find myself liking Olbermann alot more

maybe i need to continue to read about obama tax proposal......he is Rolling back the taxation of the 90's.
if you make more than 250k you'll see an increase from what you are being taxed now. that's 250k after deductions. warren buffet said it himself percentage wise my secretary pays more income tax than i do. it's time for the cycle to go back to the middle class i don't get what people don't understand about that. he wants to close loopholes.....the investments made from bush tax cuts are being invested overseas.....this country needs 48 yrs. of middle class growth.

Well, we all know who we would pick for in a fight but I'm afraid Java Joe held his own and the proof was, absolutely no fight left in Keith after Scarbourough's defence.

Joe Scarface made absolutely no sense...going into a metaphor about digging a grave and out of it with a shovel? What the fuck? KO smacked him with some poll figures and then he covered his tracks. I think I needed a shovel listening to him blather, no doubt.

For people like you who obviously do not understand, revenue for governments is derived from taxes. Getting the "government out of the way" is the big lie of libertarianism. The idea is ridiculous. Modern society needs responsible government that's open and answers to the people. That's called Democracy and that's what our founding fathers wanted. If you had no government we'd be flooded in New Orleans, lead in toys, e coli in our food, gas at $4.00 a gallon... WOW!
