Partying With The Blue Dogs

I see Jane Hamsher and Glenn Greenwald, but where'd Amato get to?  Dare I guess he was trying to work that Amato mojo on some hot female Democrat delegates to get into the party?

Amy Goodman of DemocracyNow! looks at the Blue Dogs' party at the DNC and how secretive they are being towards the press about their get together.  Medea Benjamin and Code Pink show up as well to let the Blue Dogs know how they feel.

However, they're not being completely discreet, as Matt Stoller points out at Open Left.   Gotta love that democracy in action.

Don't let debby downer suck the life out of you!

They let DFH Commies like Greenwald and Hamsher in?

No they didn't. Read the links.

Russia got its house in order under the non-senile, non-alcoholic Vladimir Putin, and woke up along about 2007 to find itself the leading oil and natural gas producer in the world.

What are we leading in? Partying?

The capitalists who sponsor all the candidates don't want these types around them.

Screwing up, making messes. Thats what we're leading in.

Dems have assigned bloggers to the Pepsi Center parking lot isn't that correct?

They don't even wanna talk to them.
"Amazingly, not a single one of the 25-30 people we tried to interview would speak to us about who they were, how they got invited, what the party's purpose was, why they were attending, etc."

They had a little more luck with the two lobbyists who seemed to have already been partying. Maybe they just need to wait until the guests get a little more drink in them and try again.

This must be the "split" in the Dem party I keep hearing so much about.

They'll be searching long and hard to find the "honest men" among the fixed income market salesmen, defense industry lobbyists and their ilk, or folks in the mortgage industry partying it up out there. Slim pickings among hedge fund managers, too.

I love the guy who admits he's actually a Republican and Amy Goodman(who's great)not missing a beat says:"do you feel right at home?" I bet he does. The Plutocracy in action.

There isn't even an opposition party, just one party. The party of business, wearing two masks.

I must be missing something here. While Ed Rendell is speaking at the Democratic National Convention, CNN is interviewing Rudy. Is this convention coverage? Excuse me? The Convention is on CSPAN. MSNBC is a little better, but not much. I wonder if they will censor the Republicans too. Ya think?

I really like that Comedy Central sign on the freeway in Minesotta: "Welcome rich white Oligarchs"?

If Fox still controls the feed, as they did last night, that's what you'll see. That's why I'm going out to my local bar and knock back a few. I just can't watch anymore.

The Republican convention will probably be on all the MSM channels each night.

Well..yeah.
The Democrats are less enamored with the idea of perpetual all out war however.

Of course they don't want war. But it is always a simple matter to drag the Democrats . . . . . .

Unfortunately I live in Santa Cruz, CA and cannot vote Pelosi out of her district. Cindy Sheehan is running against her and I admit she is a bit of a flake, but the Dems (I being one) could use being codepinked. Hopefully that will soon be a legit scrabble word like 'swiftboated'. Say hey?

"Red Meat" is the MSM's buzzword today apparently.

Government of the corporations, by the corporations, for the corporations… and their buddies, the lobbyists.

What should not be overlooked is the fact that Obama is backed by the biggest Wall Street firms: Goldman Sachs, UBS AG, Lehman Brothers, J P Morgan Chase, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse, as well as the huge hedge fund Citadel Investment Group. As investigator Pam Martens has pointed out "Seven of the Obama campaign's top 14 donors consisted of officers of the same Wall Street firms charged time and time again with looting the public and newly implicated in originating and/or bundling fraudulently made mortgages." Also, according to the files held by the Centre for Responsive Politics, the top five contributors to the Obama campaign are registered lobbyists. Obama has signed a pact with the devil in joining forces with the big corporations and there will be very few delegates in the Pepsi Center who will be made aware of what Obama has done. The Democrtats' motto seems to be placing profit over the needs of the people.

Sad state of affairs. Choosing a president simply because he is not a cold blooded killer. And an equal number who would choose a candidate because he IS a cold killer cause it makes them feel safer.

i feel so proud if thiers no martial law soon and if obama wins the whitehouse and this convention produces the desired effects , we will be at this time next year the party of the new war criminals god really does have a sence of humor!

Say, Off topic but I have been watching CNN all evening and just went to cnn.com to find out that Dennis Kucinich gave a kick reportedly ass speech. I did not see it. Am I crazy or was CNN doing an interview with Rudy Giuliani at that time? Am I an idiot or did CNN just schuck DNC time to interview a former mayor during a fiery Dem Speech? Someone set me straight please. Sorry for interrupting the thread.

That was "reportedly kick ass speech" sorry

Dennis was made "background chatter" for MSM bobble heads though out his entire presentation.

A noun, a verb and 9/11. Were you perhaps expecting more?

That is crazy! I guess I should go to C-Span. I guess the Republican plan to send the "dark riders" to Denver is working. They said they would take attention away and so they are. Thanks for confirming I wasn't crazy, at least on this subject!

Hmmmm, Janet Naplitano speaking, Governor of Arizona. Isn't that where McCain is? Like Senator of? How come CNN and MSNBC got her all censored? Well, I guess Wolf and Kieth are just way more important. Praise C-SPAN!

Thanks for posting this wonderful segment from Democracy Now! It's very insightful to see the types of incentives out there for politicians who obey their corporate masters. I also see the clip as a reminder that we should be just as critical about the Democratic Party as we are about the Republican Party since both are business parties that must support the interests of the country's elite over those of the working class.

Democracy and capitalism have never mixed too well.

Capturing the corporate-political oligarchy butt-naked in a quid pro quo.
Priceless.

it's time to update, to obamafy the blue dog label- from now on call them LIMBAUGH DEMS.

most of them cite the wishes of their constituents for their republican voting but the real pressure comes from the local talk radio stations and the national and local loudmouths who dominate their public airwaves. especially in their parts of the loudest talk radio stations dominate plitics- from initiating "public" pressure, demonizing , distorting, exaggerating, threatening, intimidating local politicians and media, the talk radio stations are the centers of GOP power in many communities. limbaugh represents the modern republican party- its principles and morals, and these Dems need to be known for who's wishes they represent.

meet the new boss...same as the old boss

and i want jane hamsher so bad i can taste it

btw...the fact that lobbiests are all over the con is one of the reasons why i remain cynical and depressed

doesnt matter if the dems regain power...nothing will change

Here is our YouTube of Kucinich's speech at tonight's Democratic Convention:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSANhkGjdAY

Memo to John Amato: Please give Dennis' speech a place on your homepage with the headline:

WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

(Once you watch his speech you'll know what I mean!).

great vid. God bless the lobbyist and the republican. The only two who didn't get the memo and were willing to talk and have a bit of good humor. The blue dogs need some PR training. Why can't they at least TRY to disarm us with a little charm. We liberals are suckers for that.

Any word yet on the Bush Jr-enabling Democrats who showed for the AT&T shindig?

I know my worthless Representative, Silvestre Reyes, is in a VERY safe, blue district, and actually promised me-when I praised him for it on a local call-in show-the House would never vote to reward the telecoms with retroactive legal immunity for their clear lawbreaking without knowing all the parameters of such warrantless spying and datamining.

Two weeks later, that's EXACTLY what he did.

That Reyes stabbed his own constituents in the back here in El Paso, and placed loyalty to Bush Jr FAR above loyalty to his voters privacy rights and our Constitution is even more galling considering he's not in a rough district for the Dems.

While it may not have been much of a response, I was able to give Reyes a piece of my irate mind the next time he went on one of our local call-in talk shows.

For anyone furious with their alleged "Democratic" Reps & Senators, you WILL feel better if you can get up in their face about the wretched gutting of our 4th Amendment, AKA the FISA rewrite.

.

The Press are not IMMUNE to report on AT&T.

.

.

REMEMBER AMERICA:
No Americans have NO CIVIL JUSTICE avenue to redress grievances for warrantless wiretapping.

This is to say, the First Amendment is NULL!
This is to say, the Fourth Amendment is NULL!

R E M E M B E R:
THEY(sic) HATE US FOR OUR WAY OF LIFE, THEY(sic) HATE US FOR OUR FREEDOMS...
... And so THEY(sic) have lobbied, debated and legislated away our FREEDOMS and altered our way of life.

Show me one Jihadist that has attacked American Freedoms and I will show you a Congress filled with FREEDOM HATERS!

.

You forgot the most important part of the heading, Nicole. AT&T is throwing this party for the Blue Dogs. Most likely for leading with the House Caving.

Isn't AT&T footing the biggest part of the bill for the whole convention?
