Republican VP candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin told Larry Kudlow less than two months ago that she can't answer whether or not she would accept the VP offer because she has no idea what the Vice President does.

Do we really need someone like this a heartbeat away from the Presidency? Especially given that McCain turned 72 today? Especially someone under investigation for abuse of power less than two years into office? That really is more of the same.

Palin's clean-hands reputation has come into question with an investigation recently launched by a legislative panel into whether she dismissed Alaska's public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper. Trooper Mike Wooten went through a messy divorce from Palin's sister.
The governor denied orchestrating the dozens of telephone calls made by her husband and members of her administration to Wooten's bosses. She says she welcomes the investigation: "Hold me accountable."

damn. I can't think of any "or's" With the exception of the one she doesn't have on the canoe up a particular creek. I would guess that somehow her problems with emails and firings are going to be little ones now that she has opened her brain for dissection.

It's hard to believe a rational woman would accept this slot under a man who thinks Roe vs. Wade should be overturned and supports the global gag rule (which bars foreign family planning organizations from receiving U.S. funds if the group in any way advises clients on abortion as an option or advocates for legal abortion - even when using their own funds).
McCain is an antagonist of sensible family planning and effective sex education. In 2005, he voted "no" on a $100-million allocation for preventive health care services targeted at reducing unintended pregnancies, particularly teen pregnancies. In 2006, he voted against funding for comprehensive, medically accurate sex education for teens. These are women's issues, and he's a fundamentalist - fundamentally wrong.

Republican VP nominee said that the GOP has no plan for the Iraq War?
The GOP agenda to ramp up domestic supplies of energy is the only way that we are going to become energy independent, the only way that we are going to become a more secure nation. And I say this, of course, knowing the situation we are in right now — at war, not knowing what the plan is to ever end the war we are engaged in, understanding that Americans are seeking solutions and are seeking resolution in this war effort. So energy supplies and being able to produce and supply domestically is going to be a big part of that. And the GOP agenda is the right agenda in that respect, but the GOP is going to have to prove to Americans in following weeks that we can safely, responsibly and ethically develop these resources. That, of course, has been a problem for the GOP. And a problem up here in Alaska. We have state lawmakers serving time in prison right now... other lawmakers whom the FBI is probing right now... because they have been found, some, to be corrupt in oil and gas issues, having taken bribes. That does not bode well for the GOP. And that's gotta change.

There's something that hasn't been mentioned yet but seems really relevant to me. Palin is the governor of a state with an eternal budget surplus provided by oil revenue. It may be GOP paradise, but it's not reality. Anyone can run a state that has its own Dilithium Express Card.

Sarah Palin seems like a lovely woman and a little more moderate than McCain. On the surface, it makes a little sense considering her reputation as a reformer in Alaska, but she has even less national experience than Obama. Making matters even worse is how old John McCain is and how she'd have to succeed him if God forbid something happened to him. The lack of foreign policy experience particularly hurts her and she's sure to get creamed in the VP debate by Biden. At least Obama has proven more apt to acquire some knowledge through his overseas tour. The women's appeal thing is also rather flimsy considering she herself slammed Hillary for complaining to the media about her alleged unfair treatment during the Democratic primary. I've long embraced Obama since the beginning, but this really looks to diminish McCain's chances even further.

Make no mistake. If McCain becomes President, his VP will be President at some point. If even for a day or so during some likely medical procedure – it's not a stretch to imagine that a 70+ year old man with a history of cancer and rapidly declining memory will have a few hospital stays in the next four years.
More probably she will become defacto President as McCain slides deeper and deeper into his "senior moments".
I don't know that much about her – I'm sure I'm not alone in that, which says a lot right there. But, certainly her inexperience makes her an easy puppet for the same lobbyists and corporate interests that have been pulling Bush's strings for the past eight years.

Clearly, John McBush selected Sara Palin because she is the same height as him.
At 5'7", John has the little man complex. By choosing a woman of average height who played point guard for her high school basketball team (point guard is the shortest position in basketball) he was assured that his VP would not tower over him when they appear together.

I hope she's not indicted before the election as McCain should keep Joe Lieberman on stand by. Gov. Palin is being investigated for a crime she helped do. yes it's the Alaska officials again. What's funny is Palin said she didn't know what a VP does and in an interview she said Hillary wasn't strong enough even with all the qualifications for the Office of President. She said that wasn't a place for a woman. Now I wonder how she will turn that statement around as she was picked as VP and most like could be President seeing John McCain is in poor health.
