Don't expect to see Saracuda tomorrow. Maybe she's holed up with Cheney in his bunker playing RISK?

Thanks for the link on Bush gulag. FWIW, I think that investigators should focus on technical personnel to crack the case: (1) the network administrators who handled recording the interrogations. Who had the permissions to look at the data, and where did it go? (2) The pilots who ferried the prisoners to (and from?) the prisons.

Let's also remember a curious "dog that did not bark in the night" fact. The post gives links that give strong indications that there are thousands of prisoners (not a few hundred, as at Gitmo). Well, if any of those prisoners have been released, I would have expected to see some stories to that effect somewhere, although probably not in the US press. But nothing. Nada. Zilch. Silence. Why is that? Are they still prisoners? Or what?

methinks she'll either be shooting a new LensCrafters ad or the handlers will be uploading buckets of data into her so she'll be "ready on day one!"

this is great...

From The Public Record:

Appeals Court Temporarily Blocks Miers From Testifying Before Congress Translation: No Accountability - not now, not ever.

Geez Louise, the Bush-friendly courts have made it impossible for anybody to investigate the illegality of his creation of a Bush-friendly DoJ. The chimpleton smirks as the clock runs out. Worst. Judiciary. Ever.

Just imagine how good things will be when deregulation and tax cuts for the wealthy REALLY take hold.

Welcome Back Bob Geiger!!!!!!!!!!!! I have really missed your website with the Saturday cartoons.

Wot? No topic on the collapse of the Silver State Bank? You know, that same bank where until recently Andrew McCain was a member of the board of directors. He knew what was comping.

http://www.silverstatebank.com/transfer/message.cfm

...coming...

Damn! Where's my edit button!

This is quite laughable! Here's the mission statement of the SS-bank when it concerns business. Read it and weep (with laughter...)

Silver State Bank provides its customers with a quality of service and commitment that is lacking at many other financial institutions. Our officers and employees live here in the community and are well-acquainted with the economic environment and the needs of local businesses.

We are optimistic about the future of Southern Nevada and believe Silver State Bank will be a catalyst for the community's continued prosperity. We look forward to the opportunity and privilege of serving you as a customer.

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”

This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

The. Last. Straw.

Economic collapse?

Where? The rich are still rich, and a majority of Americans think they're rich.

"Palin seeks election by saying nothing"

[snip]

As is the case on most major topics, Palin has avoided substantive responses on fishing. She has effectively ignored questionnaires put to the candidates. In response to fishery questions she talks about her family's set net operation in Bristol Bay and fishing with her kids. That is the total depth of her experience with the industry and appears to exhaust her interest in fishery resource matters.

Alaska - especially the coastal fishing economies - cannot afford to have that level of inexperience and lack of commitment in state leadership. "New energy" and other empty phrases don't cut it. Alaskans need to know that their governor has understanding, commitment and competence in the field of fisheries.

Many fishermen, myself included, disagreed with some actions and policy positions taken by the previous Knowles administration. Nevertheless, give Knowles credit for acknowledging those criticisms and accepting openly that he made mistakes on fishery issues. Today, he offers specific commitments - for example, supporting Southeast's valuable nonprofit salmon hatchery programs, which benefit sport and commercial interests alike, and on his process for appointments to fishery positions.

While Palin seeks election by saying nothing, Knowles provides clear positions. His proposals provide opportunity for public review and feedback and the basis for setting reasoned priorities. They also give needed assurance that there is real understanding of important details that underlie the headlines.

[snip]

In contrast, Palin has paid virtually no heed to Southeast Alaska and none whatsoever to the fisheries here. It is difficult to imagine being well served by a governor who brings no relevant background and exhibits no real interest in our concerns. We certainly do not need a mere figurehead as leader.

But it does make sense to support a candidate, even one with whom we have disagreed, who knows the main issues, proposes reasonable solutions, and is willing to listen to all sectors of the fishing community.

the above was written as an opinion in the juneau empire and published november 5, 2006.

clearly sarah palin has already been successful in gaining higher office by avoiding substantive responses and refusing to answer questions. THOSE are the characteristics which mccain vetted for. her ethical, moral and philosophical underpinnings are irrelevant -- they're "conservative republicans."

sarah palin has made a career out of running exactly the type of campaign that mccain is running. the two are a match made in hell.

aw crap ... sorry folks ... i thought my first effort got lost in the intertubes ...

This clip from MSNBC "Morning Joe" is absurd.

Don't let the McCain campaign get away with it. Call the McCain press office - (703) 650-5550 - and demand that Sarah Palin submit to interviews.

The. Last. Straw.

Check the sourcing on that before you get too excited. An overheard waitress who doesn't want to be identified? Maybe....

She's jabbering away nonsensically.

Which warms the hearts of the electorate.

"She's one of us!"

The America public has made their decision.

They don't like facts. They are too hard. They don't like information. It's too hard. They don't like policy. It's too hard. They don't like school. It's too hard.

Nice to see Geiger back. Good other stuff, too.

And I would take that story about Palin using a racial slur with a mountain of salt. Palin's definitely abused her power, she's a liar, and mismanaged things, including leaving her town with millions in debt. Oh, and she's unqualified and has extreme views on abortion and global warming. The legit stuff is more than enough without running with an unproven smear (with the potential for backlash, too).

If you really want to understand some of the issues having to do with Iran Flynt Leverett ( who dropped out of the Bush administration just before the invasion that he did not support) is the man to read.

Now this is a 34 page document about Iran. You can handle it. Read the whole thing( this is my third time)
