Is our illiterates being teached?

ha! - thanks, I caught this, but my fellow viewers signaling desparately for more beer to ease the pain missed it. I guess the guy or gal in the van choosing cameras is an Obama supporter.

The Mavwreck, I hope I got that write.

bush's final mission,

Do you mean "moron"?

[It's a long running internets joke, Nathaniel :) Sitemonitor]

When any other country is lead by a maverick, we call it a rogue nation.

Nathaniel @ 5:

Do you mean "moron"?

I hope you spelled it "moran" intentionally as a joke. I assume you did.

uh, I think "moron" was deliberately spelled wrong. . . kind of the point.

I think Johnny Mac was just reaching out to get some help reading off the prompter!

The repugs are a comedy goldmine without even trying.

McCain's entire staff are lobbyists, former and current.

By the way, I heard Palin saying her and mccain were a "Team of mavericks".

Is that some kind of oxymoronic statement?

I don't think republicans haave enough intelligence to learn how to wipe their own ass much less read!

Was it intentional? Help! Do something!

But, but McCain doesn't like to be called a maverick. That dude is lucky he didn't get thrown in jail, like the war vet who held up the sign.

It's MORAN, peeps. Are you not aware of all internet traditions?

Ahh, phew. Stealthy snark.

Andrew Sullivan says it best:

This [VP] decision is not worthy of a great power. Whatever skills Palin may turn out to have, however fabulous a person she may turn out to be, even if she becomes the Eva Peron of Christianism, McCain had no idea when he picked her.

He winged this. That's the critical, unavoidable, devastating point.

John McCain has demonstrated with this insane decision that he is unfit to be president of the United States. This was an act of near-criminal negligence. If he can behave this recklessly and impulsively with this decision, the idea of allowing him to become president of the United States is only a smidgen less terrifying than thinking of Palin in that position.

Whatever few doubts I may once have still had about this election, they are resolved now.

Obama has to win. The alternative is unthinkable.

A child could be excused...but that's a grown man holding that sign! Just think what the money spent in Iraq could have done for public schools. Too late for this rube, but the next generation could even learn to spell.

Where's the 'RAISIN MCCAIN" sign? Colbert had a field day with that one. I guess these people are home-schooled?

Fasten your seat belt, that will not be the last of the oxymoronic statements.

So typical of you elitist democrats, you expect people to be able to spell correctly . . . I bet this guy is a hockey dad and loves small town values . . .

(wink)

When you allow morons access to oxygen, you get oxymorons.

Rush Limbaugh is an oxymoron!

You would think white bread would be better educated. But than again, why do you need education when Mommy and Daddy can bail you out of a jam? Just look at George Bush.

You're all wrong. the word is maroon.

you know how palin is running and hiding this weekend - read on another blog that the man she supposedly had an affair with
( her husband's old business partner), the story the National Enquirer is working on, just filed an EMERGENCY seal on his divorce papers. You know, protecting them from becoming public!

Check this out. Those folks at 23/6 did it again! Here's the RNC in one minute. Very entertaining!

All these dumbasses are wearing business suits with clip-on ties.

I bet DUHbya made it for him.

This also says something about the people who checked the sign and let him in.
The world laughs at us.

The Enquirer has it's ways...we'll see if they can't get their hands on it.

I'd love to see this sanctimonious cow get her comeuppance

Low Information Voters: The Republican base since 1994.

(And as for the EMERGENCY seal on the divorce papers, it sounds like yet another example of the last minute vetting process, like editing her Wikipedia biography the night before the nomination is announced.)

Track Palin, Sarah's teenage son who is shipping off to Iraq on Sept. 11th, apparently joined the Army to avoid jail. Most of Track's senior year was spent in Michigan, which is unusual. Why would this amazing example of family values let their oldest live in Michael Moore's homestate? Could it be that Track severed the brakes of a schoolbus, endangering the lives of elementary school children? And this has something to do with "Troopergate?"

Now, really, who doesn't think that this guy had his immigrant servant make that sign for him?

Didn't someone say they take pride in being ignorant?

Whitehouse@49, I there anything in the Alaskan papers about this? If MSM gets a hold of this, it will be very damaging.

The whole bunch of them need schooling. From the Ridge RNC speech:

"More than 230-plus years ago, a group of leaders - some people called them mavericks - dared to think differently..."

Unlikely anybody called them "mavericks" back then, since the term came about in the late 19th century.

"ORIGIN mid 19th cent.: from the name of Samuel A. Maverick (1803–70), a Texas engineer and rancher who did not brand his cattle."

red white and blue, a hillbilly wine list.

You can try to teach them... but it begs the question: "Is our children learning?"

"My friends, if you find fault with this country, make it a better one.

If you're disappointed with the mistakes of government join its ranks and work to correct them.

Enlist in our armed forces, become a teacher, enter the ministry, run for public office, feed a hungry child, teach an illiterate adult to read, comfort the afflicted, defend the rights of the oppressed."

BUT FOR GOD'S SAKE DO NOT BECOME A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER !!!

Worse.. These handwritten signs were supposed to be handed out by the convention organizers.

Not only a team of mavericks, but a team of maverick "conservative reformers."

It's futile to point these things out, of course, because anybody who understands what an oxymoron is wouldn't be voting for them anyway. The people who ARE voting for them think the word means you're as stupid as an ox, and usually respond with "them's fighting words!" when they hear it.

What about "Raisin McCain". Colbert loved it!

How about the many things McSame urges people to do (feed a hungry child, teach an illiterate adult to read, comfort the afflicted, defend the rights of the oppressed) that sound suspiciously like what those uppity "community orgganizers" are doing? So which is it, do repiglicans believe they are worthy of the praise on Thursday by McSpin, or the sneering scorn and derision by 9ul1an1 and Palin on Wednesday?

someone needs to juxtapose palin's speech with bush 1's "thousand points of light"...where he (just like mcstupid here) asked millions to become community organzers

I heard Ron Paul's name was drowned out by boos at the convention and his supporters in the convention hall were harassed by security. Of course, this comes as no surprise, only it seems to get little traction outside of the closed circle of Paul supporters.

Ron Paul was the lone voice in the wilderness among Repugs and is treated like a pariah

krisken @ 50:

Now, really, who doesn't think that this guy had his immigrant servant make that sign for him?

Sorry. If his immigrant servant had made it the sign, it would have included references to some female ancestors, household pets, various types of livestock, a variety of hand tools, and their respective uncomfortable or impossible positioning.

With grammatical errors, perhaps, but spelled FLAWLESSLY.

It's a good thing Obama is the one who wants to sincerely better our schools.

Just say "no" to home schooling.

The democrats have defended and taken us down with Fannie Mae I do wish this was common knowledge. The democrats use acorn to win elections this is vote fraud and I would like to see prosecutions for both. This is not good enough the word must get out this is crucial as the democrats have stopped allowing the USA to make money on oil and to save our own country with the tax revenues. I wish the word could get out all over TV radio and the internet
Is this change we can believe in or more of the same that has brought us to the brink of disaster?

Cas @ 57:

Worse.. These handwritten signs were supposed to be handed out by the convention organizers.

If you're suggesting that the Mavrick signs were written by the same gang of knuckle draggers who put the picture of Walter Reed Middle School behind McCain when they meant to put up a picture of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, I think you're probably right.

But that's actually pretty interesting, because it suggests that two of the three components of the old Reagan coalition have deserted the ship. The Reagan coalition consisted of fiscal conservatives, neo-con foreign policy hawks, and wingnut values voters. Traditionally, the wingnut values voters provided all the foot soldiers for the election, but the other two groups always provided the generals. Sort of like that joke that people used to tell during the Napoleonic era about how the perfect army would have French generals and English foot soldiers. Well, if those signs and video presentations were any indication, it looks like the French generals have buggered off long ago, and the foot soldiers are running most of the campaign.

That prick could have fed every hungry kid in the state with the ridiculous amount of money spent on his old ladies ear rings. I guess you just have to have your priorities right.

Yes, and it's not like the guy left the "e" off to save space. There is clearly enough room on that card for a tiny little"e." Just to be fair, it must be noted that there are illiterate Obama supporters but they typically don't wear it like a badge of honor.

BIGBONEDED @ 73:

That prick could have fed every hungry kid in the state with the ridiculous amount of money spent on his old ladies ear rings. I guess you just have to have your priorities right.

And his only reference to the housing crisis was "I know some of you have lost money on your real estate investments" ..

Only topped by Walter Reed High School as a back drop.

A product of a Repuke educational sytem, no books, no teachers, no schools! Home educated!

Is this headline spelled wrong on purpose?

Pericles @ 43:

Low Information Voters: The Republican base since 1994.

I don't think that they are all necessarily low information... they may be wrong information voters if they listen to Rush, Sean, Laura, or Billo.

LibertyLover @ 71:

Just say "no" to home schooling.

OK that's not fair... I know some home schooled children and they are very well informed and literate.

And one more thing. I just listened to that clip. What a bunch of fucking hypocrites. Didn't they just diss community service recently??? God I hate the republican party sooooo much.

We are going to have to work for this one. We can send Obama money. Make sure everybody weknow who will listen knows the FACTS. Make sure they are registered and make sure they vote. Send letters to the editor. Relay facts and not anger. If you live in a battle ground state this is MOST important. Here’s a good website that shows the race by state: http://www.electoral-vote.com/. Volunteer at your local dem headquarters. It’s really fun! Put an Obama/Biden sticker on your car, a sign in your yard. Send out emails relaying the facts and sharing important clips and videos. Tell everyone what is so good about Obama/Biden and what is so WRONG about McSame/Palin.

If the election were held today Obama would win. But the republicans brought Palin, the Moose Whacker, onboard to assuage the fundamentalists and they will mobilize them through the churches to get out their votes just like they did in 2004.

WE CAN DO IT. WE MUST. But we can’t do it by sitting on our butts bitching about it, as cathartic as that is. Spread the truth!! Educate the stupid people!!

How many times can you link to Idiocracy before it gets old? With these goons, indefinitely.

Oh yes, I forgot something. It's obvious to me that McCain's supporters have an aversion to people who excel at their profession. In the movie 'Top Gun' Lt. Pete Mitchell, the second best pilot in the Navy (who would prove to be the best in the closing combat sequence), had the call sign "Maverick." This man's sign could then be construed as being vindictive towards even representations of great fighter pilots. No other sign of vitriol towards a pilot could be greater than misspelling his call-sign. No sir, Goose would not be proud!!!

A monkey in an Armani, by any other name, is STILL a monkey.

A teacher in Jackson, Mississippi asked her 6th grade class how many of them were McCain fans.

Not really knowing what a McCain fan was, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny. The teacher asked Little Johnny why he decided to be different... again.

Little Johnny said, 'Because I'm not a McCain fan.'

The teacher said, 'Why aren't you a McCain fan?'
Johnny said, 'Because I'm a Democrat.'

The teacher asked why he's a Democrat.
Little Johnny answered, 'Well, my Mom's a Democrat and my Dad's a Democrat, so I'm a Democrat.'

The teacher asks, 'If your Mom was a moron, and your Dad was an idiot, what would that make you?' With a big smile,
Little Johnny replied, 'That would make me a McCain fan.'

I always liked Little Johnny.
