Mike's Blog Roundup
By Mike Finnigan Monday Oct 06, 2008 7:00amLawyers, Guns and Money: The McCain/Palin campaign's attack on Obama because he happens to know Bill Ayers legitimizes questions about their own associations. Wonder if they'll dare play the scary black preacher card? Nah...Republicans are too classy.

NotionsCapital: Hey Joe Sixpack! Anheuser-Busch doesn’t just use those profits to make Cindy McCain rich. It creates thousands of jobs — in Belgium and Brazil - for Jan and João Sixpack.
War and Piece: Where's Porter Goss? Surely he'll want to defend his appointment of Dusty Foggo - who pled guilty to fraud and is going to jail - to the number three position at the CIA.

"Anheuser-Busch doesn’t just use those profits to make Cindy McCain rich. It creates thousands of jobs — in Belgium and Brazil - for Jan and João Sixpack."
It really is laughable, huh. All those NASCAR types turning their noses up at the "imports".
What are they gonna drink now? Ooooh...I can't wait for more and more elitist microbreweries to start popping up in places are Cherokee County in Alabama, Clarksville, Tenn and Galvesto, TX.
There's xenophobia a plenty going around with the whole InBev deal. I'm a bit dismayed to see it brought up here too, as if it were some kind of horrible thing that a US business got bought by a foreign company
There's a difference between outsourcing and foreign ownership, after all. Beer production is never going to be outsourced - transport costs are much more significant than labor costs. (Which is why Anheuser has their breweries dispersed fairly evenly across the US)
Americans buy foreign companies. Foreign companies buy American ones. It's the way of the world. Given the USA's deficits.. we better get used to a lot more of the latter.
I can't help wonder how many more thousands, millions of years important decisions made by human beings under the influence of alcohol are going to continue to paralyze the sober and clear headed.
Sorry Charlie but we've had a dry drunk making those decisions for the last eight years as commander in cheap. You sound like me except in my case, I'm a militant ex-"smoker".
McCain: I'm Not Raising Taxes. I'm Cutting Medicare!
Barack Obama says John McCain would raise people's taxes by changing the way the IRS looks at health insurance. McCain says he wouldn't.
Who's right?
Quite possibly McCain. But only because he's decided to slash Medicare and Medicaid instead.

(from TPM)
On the Stephanie Miller Radio show today they have repeatedly used an expression by Grandpa Saturday where he sounds disturbingly like Burgess Meredith, who played the Penguin in the "Batman" television series of the late 60's. It is hilarious and very creepy.
MCain is more like Mr. Freeze. When he loses his "cool" he cracks up into little pieces. Batman Barack ,I hope, brings a blow torch to defrost McFreeze tomorrow night.
palin's already playing the scary preacher card. Doesn't that open her up to AIP and the Wasilia church Domonionist stance?
)O(
I've finally figured out why Palin sounded confused at times during the debate.
She was speaking in tongues...and sending morsecode to God with her eyelids.
Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke pledge rapid response to crisis. 39 minutes ago
Guys how bout just jumping off the ledge of the Empire State Building then maybe Americans confidence in the system will be restored.
I know she's an expert in foreign relations, cause she can see Russia from the window in her kitchen:

Sarahs on the cover of Newsweek today and according to Newsweek she's . .
. . . "Just Folk"
Of course when your pulling off $700 Billion heists "Just Folk" is exactly what you want to have.

Press kept under a watchful eye
CLEARWATER -- Constantly under the watchful eyes of security, the media wasn't permitted to wander around inside Coachman Park to talk to Sarah Palin supporters. When reporters tried to leave the designated press area and head toward the bleachers where the crowd was seated, an escort would dart out of nowhere and confront him or her and say, "Can I help you?'' and turn the person around.
When one reporter asked an escort, who would not give her name, why the press wasn't allowed to mingle, she said that in the past, negative things had been written. The campaign wanted to avoid that possibility Monday.

Listening to this hearing now on c-span about the cluster fu*k on wall street is infuriating. Those bastards who took the big bonuses should be in jail.
Palin has now shown herself willing to do anything or say anything for political profit. She's already shown her colors and sane people will hopefully say thanks but no thanks. They are showing her speaking down here in Fla today and sadly there are seas of people there to see her. I would like to think they are there for the side show that she is, but I fear they aren't.
On another note, does the spell check button work here on comments and if it does, how do I use it?
On this week's SNL celebrity guest host Anne Hathaway reminded us that her ex-boyfriend got sent to prison for fraud. It just so happens John and Cindy were seen palling around with Hathaway, a celebrity, and her con artist boyfriend on his yacht -- which he probably bought with stolen money. Does John McCain have any friend who aren't white collar criminals.
the outcomes of Presidential elections.
MCC(umst)ain is almost universally loathed.
But Scary Sarah, "the Bare-a-cooter," Palin is the kind of person my sister and her family want to go to church with.
She's also marshalling a ffuking cloud of "Bible-Study Moms" to take to the hustings in her behalf.
(About "Bible Study": One thing has always confused me. If the "Bible" is/was composed by "God," and is "inerrant" as written--that meaning there is and can be only One Meaning, what the fuck is there to "study." I figgered it out the first (and only) time through. It's not hard. So what's with the endless "study" courses? In this, as in so much else, the Fundie/Evangie Xians resemble nothing so much as the "islamofascists" of whom they are so terrified.
This also epitomizes the difficulty with any kind of monotheism: under that rule, there is only room for ONE GOD in the world. All others must be "false," and MUST be extirpated.
I think we 'civilized' folks ought to give all the monotheists in the world swords, and someplace to tussle where they can't do too much harm--Israel?--and let their "Gods" work it out...
Mike...great stuff..One of the prominent progressive press folks in Alaska posted this last night or this morning about Palin's claim in the debate last week about Alaska's divestment in companies that do business that support Darfur's genocide.
It may be worth a look because she obviously has some FACTS the rest of the consuming public need to know. She's been on with Olbermann a couple of times but this REALLY takes the cake..
Net-Net: Palin is a liar.

Scoobie Davis Online: John McCain, The U.S. Council for World Freedom, the World Anti-Communist League, and Sun Myung Moon-----------------------I was pleased to see a refernce to Sun Myung Moon in this context. Many do not realize the extent of influence among ultra right wing religion groups this man has. Going back to the 70's.Especially the group in Arlington called The Fellowship. Please read"Christian Mafia"by Wayne Madsen. PLEASE READ this extensively researched piece.(Madsen a former CIA sleuth, himself) .You will never look at the the political structure and the dangerous intersection of combining church and state, in the same way again.
They're really getting desperate. Let's hope more MSM outlets go the CNN route and actually debunk the Ayers smears.
I am always deeply honored when you give my little place a shout out. You're ever a good, good man.
And the commenters you've sent to my place have been utterly fantastic.
