Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore does the hard-hitting journalism you won't see on any other news show: he dines at Sylvia's, the Harlem restaurant that sparked O'Reilly's infamous words.

WAITRESS: I'm going to bring you an iced tea, is that all right?

WILLMORE: Iced tea doesn't interest me. I can go to Tavern on the Green if I want iced tea. I come to Sylvia's for motherf#@king iced tea.

AWESOME!!!!!!

I think it was the "O'Reilly Factor" that also led to the boycott of the "Minority Debate" by the leading GOP candidates.

These guys are awesome. O'Falafel: delusional, sexual harasser, racist. If the guy weren't doing so much money with his hatred and rants, you'd have to feel sorry for him.

Ok
We get it.
Bill O'Reilly is an ass ( an apparently clueless racist ass)

Can we get back the end of Habeas Corpus, Iraq (Move On discussion notwithstanding)
Walter Reed, Blackwater, Iran etc etc.?

"i coulden't get over the fact"

why bill, cuz your racist?

that quote alone does him in.

I couldent get over the fact, that they acted normal.

Baby steps for some.
For Bildo it's one step foreward two steps back.

"Walking on two legs..."

This segment nails it. Think Bill O is going to smear TDS now?

J.T., this is very much about all of those things and more. It is only due to the power of the right wing propaganda machine that they have been able to so damage our country. It is only by discrediting and destroying this machine that any progress can be made in repairing the damage.

Damn, that plate of food looked good. Since it's almost lunch time, all I could think about was the food.

Jesus' General does a good post on this BillO subject today. He says he went into an Irish bar and it wasn't at all what he expected. It's funny.

You know, despite the comedy, the real tragedy in all this is that Bill O still has a show. He's still on the air and absolutely no one will tie his feet to the fire over his grotesque and obscene racist crap! For all the PC pansies out there in america you'd think they could drive the likes of an O'Reilly, Beck, and Limbaugh right into the toilet! Seems they're just as pathetic as Bill O & company.

"and they don't accept bling"

ROFL

Great motherf#@king clip. I lauhged so hard i almost pissed myself. Thank you C+L that made my motherf#@king day.

The real tragedy is that 1) "people" are actually defending O'Racist, and 2) O'Racist just won't admit he went over the line and instead is blaming everyone else....typical reich-winger

And I can't get over the fact that I only agree with the left 90% of the time. If some of you people took the trouble of actually listening to the audio you'd know it's hardly any sorts of racist. As much as I hate O'Reilly and I love to see him fired for this, it's kind of pathetic if that would actually happen because it is clearly taken out of context. And for all the terrible vile things O'Reilly has said and done it would be stupid if this dishonest smear of him would be the thing that hurts him most. TDS, left-wingers. I expect better of you.

One nice thing about living in Mississippi is I can get that kind of food almost everywhere. Probably why we're the most obese state in the country, but I'm not sure it's not worth it.

I think I might go get some fried catfish and turnip greens for lunch. And sweet motherfucking tea.

Just go to media matters I believe they have the clip. It's closer to 3 minutes than 3 hours but the picture becomes pretty clear before that. And don't paint me as an O'Reilly fanboy. Personally I'd have him jailed for his influence on Iraq and in my country (Netherlands) he would be a janitor because our people aren't dumb enough to buy his shit.

Awesome. The clueless nitwit doesn't even get it. What he does get, is that his numbers are driven by fearful white people who are very guilty about their complicity in race and class suppression.

I have listened and read the entire clip and it's still racist. Don't speak for others in that you think we haven't listened to the entire clip.

I head that the owner of Sylvia's has publically taken offense at O'Really's faux-pas, but since her last name isn't Jackson or Sharpton the MSM aren't bothering to count her.

Even if you accept that O'Dumbshit wasn't expressing a deeply profound personal epiphany and he was just leading his listeners/viewers along an enlightening path then wouldn't that be saying a little somepun somepun about his audience in that they need to be educated that black people are, you know, human...and decent? Somebody's unfathomably ignorant.

I listened to most of the segment posted on mediamatters and while I was at first convinced this was racist my mind changed on that. To me it seems his only remarkable comment were the wording of "I couldn't get over the fact" and if you listen to the entire clip I think you'll come to the conclusion that that is at worst a fruedian slip. I am from Alabama originally and I promise you that it shows how Bill O is racist, or maybe just misguided by his steretypes of what he thinks black people should be. I grew up in a black neighborhood for a while as a child so, I actually have experienced being around black people and don't have pre-conceived notions and stereotypes in my head. Bill O is no better than the types of people who truly argued the point (I swear) that there were ni**ers and then there were black people and there was a difference.

Before meeting with Sharpton, I bet Bill O's only contact with black people was when he watched re-runs of Amos and Andy.

LOL! Daily Show has gotten back on track recently.

I loved the expose on Hillary's impromtu laughing also.

Billo sucks.

Now that that's settled....has anyone seen this?

Apparently Saddam Hussein offered to surrender before the Iraq war!

bob, this was actually known about before shock and awe. It was understood that Saddam had offered to go into exile, and that Saudi Arabia had agreed to allow him there. Then, it was all quietly forgotten about.

I listened to the clip again... and I came to the conclusion that while the comment isn't racist, Bill is.

no kidding...

My question is : how is this any less an outrage than Imus'
comment , for which he was taken down hard ?
Answer : Because everyone is scared shitless of Rupert Murdoch, whom Billo hides behind .

We don't see to much of this O'reilly person up here in Canuckistan. Hate speech laws make it largely unshowable since too much editing is required. Also poverty makes his key demographic (stupid people) unlikely to have the required television hence the economics of putting him on cable are not viable. Besides, we still have all the PeeWee Herman reruns to catch up on. Still I thought I'd better YouTube the dude so as to understand the commentary. I must admit I was very impressed. He didn't talk like a leprechaun, he wasn't completely drunk in most of the clips (as far as I could tell) and although he cut off any guest liable to speak the truth, he did not sucker punch, kneecap, or car bomb any of them.Perhaps he was adopted.

For the most part, yes. Problem is Bill was just pointing out his abject ignorance about people of another race, Imus called a team of mostly black women, "Nappy headed hos"

Larry Wilmore does a fantastic job with stuff like this. He did a great skit on the Imus affair also. Nothing will happen to Bilo because FOX will cover his ass just like they did with the sexual thing too. Imus had to go because MSNBC and CBS would not stand behind him, and they were right. FOX is not racist, they are just right wing. If you are a right wing politico, then it doesn"t matter what you do, you are always right.

i've listened to the whole clip. some of it is sublimated racism, stopping just short of "some of my best friends ..." - some is outright outrageous, like "black people are finally starting to think for themselves." there is no way in hell that billo was making the argument his apologists put forth, that african americans as a whole are no different than any other americans. to him, sylvias was obviously the exception to the rule, and he took that as a promising sign perhaps of things to come.

but here's the bottom line: a remark is offensive if a sizeable number of people it reflects on are offended. racism or stupidity, it still deserves some kind of apology.

Best on in awhile. JUST KILLER.

I might be more sympathic to O'Liely about this incident if it weren't for the fact that he does the same thing every day to people on the opposite end of the political spectrum. Hell, even if you are a little to the left of O'Liely, he'll smear you, lie about you, take your quotes out of context and do everything to marginalize you. Add to that his water carrying for the Bush administration and you can see why nobody feels his pain but revels in his come-uppance.

Offensive isn't the same as racist however. If I were to say "the Bible and Koran are complete and utter shit" (which I do think btw) a lot of people would be offended but it's no racism and I wouldn't appologize for it.

just for the record I don't love those shows, I shudder every time I see a friend watching it for entertainment, and the only reason they have it on is for company...while at work Its a DC thing, some people listen to radio in their cubicle, some run the TV.

imus has always been a racist as has been documented by former coworkers such as howard stern and robin quivers

imus lost his job because advertisers started pulling out of his show

but i highly doubt that sharpton and jackson are gonna go after lufa boy and his advertisers the way they went after imus, as imus was a much easier target

Let me clarify. Imus opnely made a racist comment and there is always outrage, even if most people don't care, it seems that people these days are conditioned to be reactive, even if they agree or don't give a crap that the comment was made. Whereas Bill O, was wrong, but most people are willing to look past it, because it's Bill O and he didn't come out and use a racial slur. Most of his viewers and listeners were probably of the same opinion upn their first time meeting someone that was black. Just ignorance and a lack of understanding of what is truly biggoted behavior.

It IS fucked, and that is most of the like-minded curmudgeons that watch, listen to, and LOVE Bill O.

Quote of the week re: O'Reilly in Sylvia's is from Charles Pierce on Eric Alterman's 'Altercation': "Bill O'Reilly walked into a crowded restaurant somewhere in the United States of America and nobody in the place looked up at Bill O'Reilly and said, "motherf***er"? I weep for our nation."

Exactly! If Sharpton went to some hillbilly hick restaurant in the South and commented that he was surprised that the white folks were well behaved, civil, and intelligible, O'Racist would be busting a nut and attempt to connect Sharpton to all leftists.

"I've been to Olive Garden." BWAAHAHAHAHAAHA. This was awesome.

"imus was trying to be humorous" when i try to be humorous i don't refer to black women as hos, or young hispanic men as gang members, or even old ugly white guys as 'old ugly white guys.'
when i get drunk i don't rant about jews.
when i'm complimenting others i'm not amazed that they act just like human beings.
you can claim ignorance but a man o'r's age who has been all over and no doubt met hundreds of people, read lots of stuff, seen lots of speeches and interviews,,,he's ignorant of the fact that black people are like white people?
nope, it is plain old racism.

Billo sucks.

Now that that's settled....has anyone seen this?

Apparently Saddam Hussein offered to surrender before the Iraq war!

Thank you for that post, bob. The second thing in that article that almost damaged my computer by dropping my jaw on it was this:

"The total war bill for British taxpayers is expected to reach £7billion by next year."

ONLY 14 BILLION DOLLARS!!! Please, someone say that's wrong. Or better yet, please don't.

Nice goin' O'Dumbshit.

Are you referring to me? Because I'm not going to argue with you that O'Reilly's main audience is probably a bunch or right-wing christian bigots but that's not really what this is about is it?

Not specifically to you but the overall audience. I heard someone somewhere state that O'Dumbshit wasn't speaking for himself but was using a rhetorical device in "leading a discussion" with his audience. If this is so then is O'Dumshit acknowledging that his audience (generic reference) is that ignorant and uninformed?

If it wasn't personal epiphany and he wasn't trying to instruct his audience then what the hell was his point?

Boy I'll say one thing for sure, BillO's racial insensitivity really turned into a Tar Baby, didn't it.

tee hee!

I could not stop laughing at Larry Wilmore's segment, and I had been in a bad mood before I watched it. Second time and still funny. Kudos to Larry Wilmore, I'd love to see him on the The Factor and destroy O'Reilly.

"I've been to Olive Garden." BWAAHAHAHAHAAHA. This was awesome.

And you survived?

No that's not a Mafia joke; it's a botulism joke.

You know, Bill O would have been all right if he'd just added "Bless their hearts" after each comment.

We've had people come on this site acting all offended at how we speak of Southenors, and as a Texan I am one, kinda sorta.

Thank God for Bill O. He is doing the world a favor. He discredits the Right by association, he reminds us that racism is alive and well (so that we might remain vigilant), he provides the fodder for very funny bits like this one, makes Fox look like the joke that it is, and reminds me that no matter how bad my day might get, at least I'm not Bill mother-effin' O'Reilly. Do anyone really think he influences ANYONE who doesn't already share his idiotic world view? If he's not changing anyone's (ignorant) mind, then we do indeed have better things to worry about.

Pffffft, I'm a Texan too.
