Stephen Colbert urges President Bush to veto the SCHIP bill, for the good of the children.

If we really care for our kids, we should deny them health insurance now to immunize them against expecting it as adults. If we don’t, when they grow up, who knows what other unrealistic things they’re going to expect? You know, if we fund Head Start now, later, they’ll expect education. If we fund school lunches now, later, they’ll expect food.

“That’s why Jeb will never be president.”
Great stuff.
If you molest them now, what will they expect later?
the man is a national treasure

No, the model of the USS Enterprise in the bookstore at the Air and Space Museum is a treasure, this guy is an asset.

Phonetically speaking the only difference between asset and an asshat is the letter h.
bring back child labor….
Long live Colbert
You know, Bill OR is becoming more a caricature of Steven Colbert than the other way around, don’t you think?
Trojan poop.
lol
He’s right. I haven’t been to a doctor in over 30 years. Of course I had to give up meat and dairy.
Stephen would know; he’s got three kids himself (not sure how old, but I don’t think he and his wife have been married twenty years). He’s not aching for cash, but I’m sure he knows how important health insurance is when children are involved, and unlike Bush, he’s conscious enough of people in different situations than himself to understand how these families suffer when one of their high-risk investments (cuz let’s face it: being a kid is freaking dangerous!) needs health care.
Brilliant once again and in rare form! Mr. Colbert you’ve out done yourself! Bravo!
Colbert always hits a home run
Why Jeb will never be elected was my favourite part. What a nightmare to even think of. Let’s get rid of this f—ing Bush first. Hopefully, he’s the last, EVER! I saw Babs and Pappy saying they think Jeb has lots of political life ahead of him. That should be illegal to say on TV– it’s pure errorism!!!!

along those lines, we should stop giving our children allowance, because later they might actually want money for their efforts, instead of happily working for the good of the state/corporation at slave wages.

Ahh, well - then there’s the letters “e” and “a”, but maybe I’m just being picky.

I’m not up to 30 years yet, but the cost of making too much to qualify for Medicade and not making enough to afford commercial “health insurance” is too high for anyone. You serve a good example of living a healthy life.
Classic.
Colbert is a genius…what a great man he is! true to life… amazing and much appreciated!
I honestly don’t get Colbert. His act was probably funny the first time he did it, but not now.
I’ve really tried to watch his show, but honestly, I just don’t think he’s funny.

That’s why I specified phonetically and not spelling.
Jokes just aren’t funny when they have to be explained that much, ysbaddaden.

How does America love thee Colbert? Let me count the ways.
It loves thee to the depth and breadth and height
Of Google’s reach, of blogger’s oversight
For thy big heart and endless pomp
It loves thee when on idiots you stomp
Viewed with cable or youtube’s cathode light
It loves thee freely, despite Viacom’s fight;
It loves thee strongly, like Ann Coulter’s bile
It loves thee purely, like Jon Stewart’s smile
It revels in your gleeful irony
Now America will never part from thee
The power and size of Colbert’s Nation
If networks choose, shall but love thee better
