In an interview with CNN Iraqi National Security Adviser, Mowaffak Al-Rubaie sent a clear message directed at Vice President Dick Cheney that his country will not tolerate permanent U.S. bases.
Iraq "put the U.S. on notice." Iraq's National Security Advisor, doesn't mince words.
"The people of Iraq, the Parliament, the Council of Representative and the government of Iraq, all say no, big fat no, N, O, No military bases for Iraq because we believe that is in direct encroachment to our sovereignty, and we don't need it."
"That message was delivered directly to Vice President Dick Cheney at the White House."

Ahahahahahahahahah! I wouldn't want to be in the room when darth cheney starts throwing things.
Cheney's response:
FU, Iraq!
HA HA.
Suck on that Dick.
So we can bring the troops home now. Right?
Can't get any clearer than that.
Cheney probably just smiled.
The Iraqi government won't be around much longer.
Quick, somebody check Haliburton's stock. Dropping faster than an old man shot in the face by the vice president.
Pigs.
Bush probable hates it when people go over his head to Cheney.
theWalrus @ 2:
Exactly!
Or "Go fuck yourself, al-Rubaie!"
He might as well have said, "for those of you who are democracy imparred! NO!"
Good! We shouldn't have bases there, just like we shouldn't be waging a war there.
DANA PARINO - "Well, what the Iraqi leadership meant by 'no' was 'we love you, America! We really want you here!' Those silly Iraqis are such kidders - they don't know what they want. You see, they really want us to remain there forever - they just don't know it yet."
REPORTER - "Do you honestly believe that bullshit you're spewing on us?"
DANA PARINO - "Next question?? Please? Anyone??
Rose petals, big fat rose petals. And oh yes, sweets, big fat sweets.
Wow. This thing continues to morph into a disaster of all different kinds.
When Iraq says no, they really mean yes. Sort of like when Laura said "No" on our first date and then I got the "Mission Accomplished"... heh heh heh.
Now watch this drive.
/Bush
Cheney's already infringed on U.S. sovereignty, so what's one more crime.
I'm sure that note ended up in the shredder....
"You don't know the power of the DARK SIDE Mowaffak Al-Rubaie". Cheney is a bad motherfu..ker. I loved him on PBS Frontline on Monday. Stay tuned. You ain't seen nothing yet.
Cheney = "yes yes big fat yes"
FFS Thats one of the main reasons PNAC made the decision to go into Iraq, who the hell do these Iraqis think they are ?
Why is it that I get the sneaky feeling that the Iraqi National Security Adviser, Mowaffak Al-Rubaie will not be around much longer?
good to know that they got the message to the person in charge.
It's cute that Iraq's National Security Advisor thinks he gets a say.
The Bush admin will be at war with there own puppets at this rate,.... jesus wept.
Why is it that I get the sneaky feeling that the Iraqi National Security Adviser, Mowaffak Al-Rubaie will not be around much longer?
he is taking precautions.
no small planes.
no soup.
They addressed it to the right person!
I can see Cheney fuming: "What are you but a warped, frustrated young man? A miserable little clerk crawling in here on your hands and knees and begging for help. No securities, no stocks, no bonds. Nothin' but a miserable little $500 equity in a life insurance policy. You're worth more dead than alive!"
Which will give him an idea.
Oh no, Iraq is a rogue regime again! Time to bomb them back into the Stone Age.
Oops -- they haven't yet recovered from the last time we did that.
It would be nice if the Democratic party would say to Dick and co., regarding something, anything really at this point, no, big fat no, N, O, No.
Wow, Halliburton's stock really IS plummeting! Why is that?
tiger cub @ 26:
I was also thinking "why is this not happening here?" Maybe we can get this guy to run for OUR Senate! I'd vote for him, even if he ran as a third party candidate!
Well, at least somebody's telling The Dick no.
Hey, congressional Dems, take a lesson here......
“That message was delivered directly to Vice President Dick Cheney at the White House.”
Ha! I guess W was off doing something important, like riding his bikey.
What more proof does anyone need that Dick runs the show? Fuckin' appalling.
Sound's like Nuri Al-MALIKI's not working out. And this fatal Muppet show goes on...
It would be nice if the Democratic party would say to Dick and co., regarding something, anything really at this point, no, big fat no, N, O, No.
They have said that to Dick and to George. Too bad the question was whether they would be held accountable for their crimes.
Ungrateful towelheads!
Gee and Dead-Eye Dick didn't shoot the guy. Will wonders never cease.
Cheney promptly inserted the document into his custon shredder.
Well, if they refuse we'll just invade, topple the government, and bring freedom and democracy to the Iraqi people!
And if those Iraqis don't vote to allow permanent bases, well we'll just invade again! Purple fingers for everyone!
The invasion part is the only part that worked out the way it was planned. I'm sure that there are a number of people in the administration who would be thrilled to have a "do over" with it. It doesn't work that way, of course, but they'd be thrilled anyway.
Well old shooter, just like Dr. Frankenstein you created your own monster. Now what? He's turning on you and using his independence that you gave him.
dirk gently @ 23:
No bird hunting for sure
That's odd. One military MD just told me they are building a Level 3 MILITARY hospital in northeastern Iraq. It's roughly the size of the 300 bed hospital I'm sitting in right now.
Huh.
Well maybe we can pay them off with the oil revenues from their oil that we have stolen from them.
[Deleted. Off topic-Sitemonitor]
I guess we can start dismantling our permanent military bases we've already built? Cheney doesn't give a shit what Iraqis want and I hate to tell you all but neither will a Clinton administration. The bases will stay, the troops will stay and, Iran is next. Anyone care to wager?
I thought Boy Gorge was President...?
And you thought the troops were building soccer fields ...
30+ trillion dollars of oil underneath those sands...
that Iraqi government will be long gone before they ever remove those bases.
"Why is it that I get the sneaky feeling that the Iraqi National Security Adviser, Mowaffak Al-Rubaie will not be around much longer?"
He'll soon announce that he has to 'spend more time with his family'.
(They've got a package deal lined up for a trip to Cuba. Not the Castro part...)
I guess there's one silver lining to the Blackwater scandal - it's pushing the Iraqis over the tipping point, and they're now finding their voice.
how do we let the iraqui government that we are in agreement with his "big fat no."
Anonymoo @ 46:
Now we just need to reach our tipping point and find our voices.
Hate to state the obvious, but Mr. Al-Rubaie does not control Iraq; Dick Cheney does. The Iraqis can bluster all they want, but the bases will stay until Hillary leaves office.
And I thought the US _wanted_ Iraqis to step up so the US could step down....
Good for the Iraqis. Hopefully things actually start to get better soon.
Mitch @ 49:
It seems that every imperial power throughout history has attempted to subjugate other nations, yet they've all failed miserably. Britain and France learned that the hard way, yet the U.S. government thinks it can do a better job. Either that or they just don't study history and are therefore doomed to repeat the same fucking mistakes.
Notice that he went to the person who was calling all the shots, however, this will have no effect whatsoever. Too many repukes are getting rich off of the occupation of Iraq.
This will run a similar course that the Iraq demand that Blackwater leave the country.
I am waiting for TomTom's post to be deleted. I am sick of the left's hero worship of Ron Paul. He is one of the Repukes that voted against the SCHIP bill.
organmeat @ 7:
Lol. Nice.
when your oil runs out we will be more then happy to leave , sincerly dicks chenys
That's an easy one. Until further notice, the permanent bases will be called "enhanced temporary bases." See, problem solved.
RayC @ 54:
Ditto that.
And Hillary and other Dems will support that "long term strategic partnership" because it will most likely involve a long term military presence in Iraq, with bases and the BIGGEST embassy in the world, so that we can continue to steal OUR OIL.
Jim @ 52:
Agreed. The same thing happened in 1932 Iraq with the British. It happened again in India and so on.
TomTom @ 43:
bet your ass, oh wait rons the nut who wants no government at all!dennis kucinich 08
Apparently this guy doesn't understand how Puppet Governments work.
anonymous @ 55:
My dad said to me, "Bush is just one heart beat away from being president".
Steve @ 62:
The puppet government and their million or so heavily armed people against our exhausted and faltering military.
anonymous @ 55:
I think Bush got used to that 6 1/2 years ago when he was told to go outside and clear some brush while the real president had to get down to the work of the president.
Joe O. @ 60:
On the other hand, the Romans had a pretty good run.
Point being, duration is no justification.
Joementum @ 57:
Check out this document from 2002. Adm. Blair says the same exact thing about the Philippines that Tom Casey, the State Department spokesperson, says.
http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/sept_11/blair_003.htm
It's the same shtick.
Joementum @ 57:
JEEZ!!!! stop giving them ideas ....
I hope Mowaffak Al-Rubaie has good locks on his doors, or he may be getting a visit from his friendly neighborhood Blackwater contractors.
Astro @ 69:
He might commit suicide by stabbing himself in the back 4 times.
OT - This is bad news and I call on all my C&L friends to HELP!
Harry Reid is threatening to “ignore” the hold Chris Dodd put yesterday on the FISA bill. Harry Reid has shown his true colors. He is in the Senate to represent the Telecom Companies, not the PEOPLE.
I beg all C&L ers’ to BOMBARD Harry Reids’ office with calls and tell him “HANDS OFF” Chris Dodd’s courageous HOLD of the Senate FISA bill which grants immunity for telcos illegal warrantless spying!
Harry Reid’s Washington Office 1-(202) 224-3542
Glenn Greenwald has more: http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/
Astro @ 69:
Not only that, he may get a visit in the form of a U.S. military raid on his office or by some paid off "Concerned Iraqi Nationals" who used to be called "Dead Enders" or "Saddam Loyalists". Any of those may also pay him a visit.
Sadly, Cheney (and the rest of shrubco) don't care what the Iraqis want. Halliburton (the builders) and Blackwater (the security staff) need more money, so there will be bases in Iraq.
Cheney's response: "Let's talk about this over a hunting trip at my place."
No biggie. Just like with Neil Bush's S&L scandal costing we the taxpayers a billion dollars in the 1980's. Brother George Bush will now stick the taxpayers with a half trillion dollar bill for their oil war regardless of whether he and Big Dick can reap the benefits of our investment. The Bush Crime Family are experts at investing our blood and treasure and if it works they take the proceeds, if it fails we get stuck wit the bill. The ultimate swiindle. No permanent bases? No problem. The Crime Family will just move on to their next taxpayer funded swindle.

Doesnt Harry realize that Rush is mocking him? You know that the winning bidder cant be a liberal, unless you think that an unwashed coffee house owner has 2.1mill
...and Dick muttered, "The Halliburton/KBR profits from our constuction projects will be 90% realized by January 2009. What happens after that is the business problem of Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Boeing and General Electric. F#@k 'em... and the sand ni@@ers, too."
Peace @ 71:
Harry Reid's email address here:http://reid.senate.gov/contact/email_form.cfm
He has it set up so that mail is automatically filtered by subject. I suggest that you put your message in the subject box, with exclamation points.
Applause to Iraq!
Wonder what the White House uses to twist their arms?
Maybe Mowaffak Al-Rubaie should take a look at what happens to those that make comments the Bush Administration does not like. A prime example is what just happened to Adm. Scott Redd. Take note because Mr. Al-Rubaie will be next as we see from this article:
Published on Thursday, October 18, 2007 by ABC
After Comments, US Terror Chief Resigns
"Three days after Americans saw the Bush administration’s counterterrorism chief say the Iraq war has likely not made the United States safer from terrorism, the official announced his resignation, citing health reasons."

TomTom @ 43:
Sorry, no.
You got to love it. They don't even talk to George anymore, go right around Condosleezo, and address their comment directly to Cheney.
Al-Rubaie: No bases Dick.
Cheney: ah, hold on a minute. What's this red button do?
anonymous @ 78:
Never mind, there is no subject box, you have to choose from a list. I suppose "communications" would be the best bet? Here's the link again, hope it goes blue this time:

Mowaffak. Hello?
Cheney. Hey Mow baby! Good job!
Mowaffak. Hahahaha. Sheep even more confused now?
Cheney. Ha ha. Thanks to CNN. Look only about one year left. Then Clinton inherits this crap.
Mowaffak. Hee hee. We go to beach at French Riveria!
Cheney. Booze, babes, gambling golf baby.
Well, guess that message pissed on Dick's shoes......
So, what's the rationale now??? So what you got now
Dick?? They don't want our bases, we can't get at the oil,
How long before the Iraqies saythat 'biggest U.S. embassy in the world' thing ain't gonna happen either???
And mostly, given yours and your puppets complete incompetence, how much longer is everyone involved going to have to bleed and die over your egomania Cheney, how long???
What's the fucking reason now??? Whatcha got you DICK!! JD
Oh, there will be permanent US bases in Iraq. We moved them from SA to Iraq at great cost to us. Don't think the neocons or even a Dem President will move us out.
lets see.
we've got ...
No to Blackwater
No to Partition
No to the blast walls separating neighbourhoods
No to the Oil Law
No to provocation of Iran
No to areal bombing of urban areas
No to arming of Sunni tribal factions
No to murder, torture and abduction
No to Bases?...I don't think so
Dr. Acula @ 81:
I second that. Ron Paul may be anti-war, but is the most radical reich-winger of the lot. He wants to eliminate the food stamp program for the poor. Yeah, real "progressive" there you Paulettes.
dirk gently @ 23:
no riding in cars
no walking in public
no leaving the house
no answering the door...
Who knows, we may see Cheney redo the scene from Star Wars where Darth Vader puts up his hand and presses his fingers together to strangle the officer that questions him. Right now Cheney is probably doing that and saying on the phone while strangling Al-Rubaie from a distance "I find your lack of faith disturbing."
Dr. Matt @ 88:
HA!!!! Take THAT "Shotgun" Cheney!!!! How ya like DEM apples? Ya warmongerin SOB!!!!
Food stamp program was created by the department of agriculture for archer daniels midland and other big agra business. We have huge surpluses of food so creating the food stamp program just increased the demand for food.
And that program is low on Ron’s hit list . . . plus if Ron Paul were president he would have to operate within the confines of the executive branch (that would be a new thing) and would not be able to get rid of popular social programs.
Ron Paul as president can and will end the war. He’s the only candidate.
(Sorry - I messed up the post above - user error)
Since when is the WH responsive to the demands of the Iraqi government?
Democracy my ass.
Why is the U.S. building a $1 Billion dollar sheltered embassy complex in Iraq if the goal was not a permanent stay? What a waste of taxpayers money! Of course, now there are reports of contractor fraud.
E Ryno @ 91:
A 1992 newsletter by Republican congressional candidate Ron Paul highlighted portrayals of blacks as criminally inclined and lacking sense about top political issues.
Reporting on gang crime in Los Angeles, Paul commented: "If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be."
Paul, a Surfside obstetrician who won the GOP nomination in the 14th District runoff by defeating incumbent Rep. Greg Laughlin, said Wednesday he opposed racism.
He said his written commentaries about blacks came in the context of "current events and statistical reports of the time."
Paul's Democratic opponent, Charles "Lefty" Morris, said many of Paul's views were "out there on the fringe" and that this fall voters would judge his commentaries.
Morris' campaign distributed selected writings by Paul this week.
Paul, a former congressman and one-time Libertarian presidential nominee, said allegations about his writings amounted to name-calling by the Democrats.
He said he'd produced the newsletter since 1985 and distributes it to an estimated 7,000 to 8,000 subscribers.
Writing in his independent political newsletter in 1992, Paul commented about black men in the nation's capital.
Citing statistics from a 1992 study produced by the National Center on Incarceration and Alternatives, a criminal justice think tank based in Virginia, Paul concluded in his column:
"Given the inefficiencies of what DC laughingly calls the criminal justice system, I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal."
"These aren't my figures," Paul said this week. "That is the assumption you can gather from" the report.
He also wrote: "Opinion polls consistently show that only about 5 percent of blacks have sensible political opinions, i.e. support the free market, individual liberty and the end of welfare and affirmative action."
Paul continued that politically sensible blacks are outnumbered "as decent people."
how long have the japanese and the germans wanted permanant military bases removed.
if they don't care what europe, japan or the phillipines want why the hell care what the iraqis want.
everywhere our gov goes it leaves bases. we have one in cuba for god's sake.
Mowaffak Al Rubaie said FFFFFFFF NO.
How is US popularity contest going these days
We come in peace
