The latest installment of Bushed! on Countdown takes us back to a happier time when there were only one or two scandals per week. First, the White House pressured the EPA to reduce the number of times companies had to report that they had released toxic chemicals into the environment, which, according to the GAO, will lead to 22,000 fewer reports per year and a lot less oversight. Next, it was onto today's vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee to issue contempt citations for Karl Rove and Josh Bolten for their refusal to testify on the US Attorney purge scandal and finally more Blackwater. Secretary of State Condi Rice stood up and accepted responsibility for Blackwater's slaughter of 17 unarmed Iraqi citizens -- she may have taken responsibility, but she has yet to take the fall:
Olbermann: "So you'll be resigning, then?"

Only coal in Secretary of State, Ms Ferragamo's stocking this year. And that goes for the rest of the crooks too. I don't know if there is enough coal in the earth to fill that many stockings.
resign? lol, freedom of medal more than likely.
pissed off patricia @ 1:
No! don't give them coal! They love coal!
I know! Give them coal mine safety inspectors!
Condi saying she's responsible for war crimes?
No sweat.
Condi being held responsible for war crimes?
Never happen.
Olbermann: “So you’ll be resigning, then?”
Resignation is not acceptable, even if by some miracle it were to happen. She should be tried as a war criminal. The same with Bush, Cheney, et al. Nothing would put a better end to this terrible era in our history than to see all of them rot in jail till the day they die. We can't help the people already killed, maimed, tortured, and raped by their actions, but justice can still be served.
more at my blog...
Hey my white brothers and sisters, us black folk hate this sorry unqualified house negro. I guarantee that in most African American homes when this selfish bitch is discussed, it's on the same level as uncle Clarence Thomas.
So true... these Bush assholes pretend to "take responsibility", then do nothing....
I wish they would REALLY "take responsibility", and resign, then commit suicide.
I'm about 1/4 into Jeremy Schaill's "Blackwater" and the prelude was like a horror story. It may not happen in our life time but it's loud and clear what the Christian society want to do. Their life is their GOD and I think it's at the same level as Islam.
I think most people will be able to co-exist with foreigners in America (much like here in Canada) but not the Christians!
I think we'll say to ourselves "where did we hear this before"......You're either with us or against us.
I'm Catholic and I'm frightened at their direction.
Maybe the ghost of Christmas past will visit Condi and she'll hear the crying of the children when their parents were mowed down by blackwater. Then maybe the ghost of Christmas future will visit her to show her how she will look in her Ferragamos and an orange jumpsuit.
HA! In the shrub co. neocon dick-tionary the word "Responsibility" isn't included. Nor are the words 'consequences', 'impeach' or 'integrity'. In fact most words that deal with crime and punishment have either been expunged or altered to fit the 'rovian' definition.
When I think about the shrub co. crime family I am reminded of the "skin of evil" episode of Star trek. [with apologies for the geek factor]
On a slightly different and OT note: What's with the manufactured outrage and hype about steroids in baseball? I only skim the news channels now and then but what little I've seen these days is all about that. They seem to be doing every thing they can to make it appear to be a big deal. You can really feel the veneer stretched thin on this one. Even the talking heads are reaching for something to continue talking about. What are they trying to draw attention away from? Is there a new scandal brewing? Or is it just the never ending circle jerk of crime in the white house they're trying to avoid talking about?
Resign? Are you kidding? That's what an honorable person with integrity would do. There is nobody fitting that description in the Bush Politburo.
MargeAggedon @ 10:
Beats the hell out of me why this steroid story is blasting away. They aren't going to punish the guys who did it, so who gives a damn? MSNBC yesterday felt it was more important to cover the outcome of the investigation about steroids than it was to cover the dem debate live. Whoever made that decision should be fired.
For anyone who doesn't have a weak stomach or a gun nearby to shoot their TV, bush will be speaking on TV at about ten minutes till eleven (eastern time). Remember that TV cost you a lot of money, so try not to bash it or shoot it if you watch. :)
Of course she took responsibility. It was probably quite grueling to have to stand on the carpet in the oval office and hear her "husband" say, "Condie, I'm disappointed in you. You're going to have to try harder and do better." Then she had to go straight to her office for an hour and think about what she did wrong. I'm sure it's all better today. A little tense, but a few jokes and friendly slaps on the butt and they'll soon be best buds again.
pissed off patricia @ 12:
Good advice ;)
I agree with your assessment about the baseball thing. It feels like someone really wants people to hear that Clemens is on the list. They repeat it over and over and over. Like this whole thing really needs a big name to get people interested. But it's not working for the most part. It feels really manufactured and sure they are wrong to use steroids but what does that have to do with anything relevant? What will they do except fine them and wag a finger in their direction? So the news may have hurt an endorsement deal or two. So what? Shrub co. is destroying the planet and illegally occupying a foreign country while doing everything they can to try and start another war with a THIRD country. Isn't that just a little more important than a bunch of over paid athletes using steroids?
The world waits anxiously for Bush to get out of office, if another GOP/NeoCon/PNAAC type comes in we will have terrorism forever. That is what this type of Group thrives on, fear, through terror, through religion, through any means possible to keep the populace in fear.
Only Sheep need a Shepard.
The world is waiting for America to Rise up and become the leader she once was.

Excellent! When it comes to hatin some BushCo neo-con fascism, the more the merrier I say! Welcome aboard friend! :)

Whats next?
Ignore treason and warcrimes to investigate:
"Is wrestling fake?!"
OBservations from the Iowa Democratic debate, The immigration issue did not come up. But..light was shed on that all over the MSM afterwords. The 800 lb gorilla on the stage continues to be the Israeli Palestinian issue (hello how many times do we have to hear this is the most serious root cause of the hatred that many feel towards the US in the middle east, besides our military bases to protect our need to access). I have watched all the debates (Republican and Democrat)this issue has not been brought up. Former Governor Bill Richardson tried to bring the issue up once and was quickly shut down. I mean quicly.
The I/P issue continued to be the 800 lb gorilla in all of the debates.
Another observation from the debate yesterday
Former Senator John Edwards consistently brings up that he will go after breaking the corporate lobby hold on our nation. He also consistently brings up the poor, the hungry and struggling in our nation. He does not stand to win votes or money from corporate lobbyist and those they represent and many people in poverty do not vote. I am amazed and admire Edwards for continuing to bring these critical issues up more than any other candidates who stand to win.
Who does he get votes from by making a stand on these issues?
God, I hope these criminals eventually get what they deserve. They are so despicable.
Bushed meant that I was really tired when I was young.
Bushed today means that I'm really sick of bush and I DO mean sick. :(
It is amazing to me that more people aren't hearing Edwards. He seems to be the only one willing to speak the truth. I have yet to hear Obama take a stand on anything, Oprah is not the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, people need to look at the person who will actually be in the White House. Oprah also grandstanded Dr.Phil who is becoming like a Jerry Springer lately.
texas lady @ 20:
Oprah is supporting Obama because of the color of his skin. Obama and Hillary are corporate sell outs. The only thing I worry about with Edwards is that he may forget the middle class. And don't forget Kucinich. I don't know why he is so ignored - well yes I do. But HE is the one who really speaks the truth - nobody hears him either.
Ali @ 21:
I have to agree. They're all politicians first which is a negative across the board but personally I favor Kucinich. Edwards is tolerable and I'd support him if the corporate masters insist that he's got to be the candidate.
If this was an honest race I don't think Hillary or Obama would have the numbers they currently enjoy.
Wouldn't it be something if we could take the best from both parties and put them in? Like a Co political party. Perhaps accomplish something for the American people for a change.
I wonder what the team of Biden and Paul would be like? Edwards would be a fresh team player but needs clout.
texas lady @ 23:
Ron Paul would not be good for the US. His extreme isolationist no government interference or regulation ideas just won't work. Look at the corruption reduced government regulation has reaped during the rein of Bush.
texas lady @ 20:
Just wait for Edwards to make a misstep, you'll hear about him on all the networks. The Reich Wing and the MSM are determined to make this campaign about Hilary and Obama. They're just waiting for a "Dean Scream" moment to knock Edwards out of the race. Forget about Dennis ever being taken seriously by the MSM. That stupid UFO question they asked him proves that they're only interested in painting him as a weirdo. Bloggers are doing their best to keep the public educated, but the right knows they can always counteract any real news with a steady stream of disinformation. Maybe someone needs to hijack the media.
MargeAggedon @ 22:
I don't think Oprah is supporting Obama just because he's black...I think she honestly believes in him.
I favor Kucinich as well, and feel the same about Edwards...though if Obama's nominated, he will definitely have my vote. Hillary...it would be a struggle for me to vote for her...I liked Bill when he was in office...thought he was a damn good prez...but I never liked Hillary...
I agree I think Oprah believes in Obama, however, that is her mindset and too many will just go along without doing the work to make up their own minds.
Taking two of the best from each party would maybe balance the policy and agenda. Not all Republicans are Bush believers and not all Dems are without backbones.
Also, how about being able to fire the President prior to the four years when he is seriously going off track? Again it would take another election but better than 8 years and billions, no trillions in debt.
All these debates and schmoozing of Iowa and New Hampshire, did it really need a year in advance to say the same thing over and over. And what is the proof they will say the same once in power?
Can't understand why Joe Biden isn't WAY out front. He has more knowledge, experience, charisma and everything else than the rest of the pack combined. Why should Hillary be "annointed"?? Biden would be great and could have Obama for VP. Now there's a WINNING ticket!!
texas lady @ 27:
I hear ya...I wouldn't mind seeing a Kucinich/Paul ticket...I doubt it will happen honestly, but I think it would be friggin awesome for this country...BTW. I'm switching from a registered Independent to Democrat so I can vote for Koooch in the primiaries.
I think we're supposed to be able to fire a sitting prez...but honestly, if we could've fired bush early on...cheney might have already nuked the middle east, and halliburton would've built walmarts and starbucks everywhere by now.
I think these "debates" are baloney! Gimme a serious debate, with no "lightning round" gameshow BS!!! ALL candidates should be given EQUAL time to speak, not the current media darlings...Every time I hear Koooch speak...I can't help but think, damn now there's a TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOT! Most of the other candidates on either side, IMO, are corporate lackeys! And don't have the good of the nation in mind.
Erik Prince can rot in Hell
Jerzey Lady - my thought as well, didn't know much about Biden but the little that has come out seems logical. Made me upset when he said troops couldn't be brought out right away but reality is how fast can anyone move 150,000 men and equiptment. Don't know why his promoters haven't pushed harder, unless he is just there for a mix.
Obama as VP ? Just not enough experience for the huge job of cleaning up these 8 years, need to fight the lobbyists and get some health insurance going. Maybe next 4 years he will be ready. Hope whoever keeps Robert Gates on, seems like he is the steadyist ship floating between Cheney and the military.
#29 My thought to fire the President whoever and put controls on Cheney. Most VPs aren't running the government like Bush let Cheney. This is my problem with Obama, who like Bush just doesn't have the experience they let the bully take over.
And, I agree these debates favor a few and the others don't get to speak. What is up with that?
Christy Hardin Smith over at FDL is back. I love when she is all feisty calling bullshit “bullshit” and ready to kick some ass. What in hell did we do before the Christy’s , Marcy’s and Larry bloggers were stirring it up.

I know many of us were calling, e-mailing, visiting our reps and marching in the streets, but now it is happening with even more spunk and spirit.
texas lady @ 20:
Oprah and Obama have been portraying Obama as a "bold" candidate. Horseshit!
During the John Bolten, Condi "mushroom cloud" Rice nomination hearings Senators Biden, Dodd, Lincoln Chaffee, Kennedy Kerry all asked hard driving questions of both Rice and Bolton . Obama played it safe and threw softballs during both those hearings and then voted for Rice. He played it safe by being out of town during the Kyl Lieberman (warmonger) amendment vote. How "bold" is this?
Edwards has apologized for his stupid and destructive 2002 war resolution vote and I believe he learned from it. After Hillary's second Yes vote on war resolutions...the Kyl lieberman amendement, Mike Gravel called Hillary out on this vote. Watch for yourselves
Mike Gravel calls out Hillary, Obama. Hillary shows how smug and arrogant she is. Edward speaks clearly about his stance on Iran and Hillary voting for this amendment.

Edwards is not taking PAC money.
If you have not seen the interview that Amy Goodman did with Sy Hersh about Iran and Hillary's vote check it out. Here is some of the transcipt. link to show down below.
Amy Goodman/Seymour Hersh interview on Iran. Sy talks about why he thinks Hillary vote for the Kyl Lieberman amendment. Here is some of the transcript.
AMY GOODMAN: Sy Hersh, I wanted to switch gears for the last question, and this has to do with it not
just being Republicans who are sounding a drumbeat for war. The three leading Democratic presidential candidates—Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards—have all declared no options off the table. This is a clip from last week’s Democratic debate. It was the day the Senate approved a controversial resolution calling on the State Department to designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. At the debate, Democratic presidential hopeful Mike Gravel bitterly criticized Hillary Clinton for voting in favor.
MIKE GRAVEL: This is fantasy land. We’re talking about ending the war. My god, we’re just starting a war right today. There was a vote in the Senate today. Joe Lieberman, who authored the Iraq resolution, has authored another resolution, and it is essentially a fig leaf to let George Bush go to war with Iran. And I want to congratulate Biden for voting against it, Dodd for voting against it, and I’m ashamed of you, Hillary, for voting for it. You’re not going to get another shot at this, because what’s happened, if this war ensues, we invade, and they’re looking for an excuse to do it. And Obama was not even there to vote.
TIM RUSSERT: Senator Clinton, I want to give you a chance to respond.
SEN. HILLARY CLINTON: [laughter]
AMY GOODMAN: That was Hillary Clinton laughing. Fifteen seconds, Seymour Hersh. Your response?
SEYMOUR HERSH: Money. A lot of the Jewish money from New York. Come on, let’s not kid about it. A significant percentage of Jewish money, and many leading American Jews support the Israeli position that Iran is an existential threat. And I think it’s as simple as that. When you’re from New York and from New York City, you take the view of—right now, when you’re running a campaign, you follow that line. And there’s no other explanation for it, because she’s smart enough to know the downside.

hard to rot in hell when you are one of the devils..they like creating hell for others
texas lady @ 27:
Even Al Gore said it over a year ago that the campaign would be used to distract the American public. I watch the MSM's evening news almost every night. A year ago half Iraq half debate....now little on Iraq...mostly the campaign. John Edwards has really been ignored a great deal of the time by the MSM especially Chris Matthews (have been unable to figure this out). Wondering how much this ignoring Edwards has to do with him not taking PAC Money....and still he ends up as one of three main contenders.
And the way we are supposed to be able to fire a President is IMPEACHMENT. Somehow lying our nation into a war, supporting torture, signing statements, illegally wiretapping and datamining, record breaking oil profits, etc etc are not enough. Please someone step up to the plate and give Bush and Cheney blowjobs. Prove that you are a true patriot

GWB, Lord of the Assholes!
Wasn't it like $7,000,000 spent to impeach Clinton over "lying" to Congress but actually because of consensual sex. But no one brings impeachment charges to Cheney and Bush over the destruction of America and the illegal war they started. Just amazing.
If rice is really taking responsibility then I expect to she her in jail now with no bail and facing 17 counts of murder when the courts get around to her case.
texas lady @ 39:
Kucinich has already tried, he got shut down. He's trying again today, if I'm not mistaken.
But I agree the lack of urgency to to ANYTHING to this administration for the MANY MANY crimes they've committed, is not amazing, it's maddening, embarrasing, and makes me want to fuckin scream!
King of Mean @ 7:
I'd settle for the suicide. The Japanese know how to handle disgrace.
texas lady @ 39:
I don't think the GOP was upset with Bill Clinton for having "consensual" sex, I think they were upset that he had consensual sex with a WOMAN!!
Grotesquleezza resign?
That's a thought
Can't she be helped... with a size 45 boot?
As long as the dems keep putting up morons for office the ass monkey republicans will keep winning. America is not ready to elect a Black Guy or a whiny Bitch, so we will get another Republican. America is still a racists bigoted country.
