Republican Video: I've Got A Crush On Fred Thompson's Politics
By Logan Murphy Friday Dec 21, 2007 5:30pm
We already know Republicans have a hard time being funny, and even being catchy is a stretch for them, but when I found this hilarious video at Daily Kos I thought C&L readers would like to share in the unintended laughs.
In response to the Obama Girl videos by Barely Political, the right has now produced a pro - Fred Thompson video depicting a man showing how much he loves his favorite candidate -- ok, he doesn't love Fred, he just loves his politics. Filled with right wing fallacies and talking points (see liberty, freedom and of course, 9/11) this belly laugher shows just how uninformed people on the right are about the state of their country and what the Republican party truly stands for in the Bush era. Enjoy...

That's from Barely Political, same group that did the Obama Girl stuff.
Boy, that "Remember September 11" at the end sure seems gratuitous.
Wait, no, I'm wrong. My bad.
THE TRUE ‘LEGACY’ OF FRED THOMPSON: AN ACTOR WHO CAN’T PLAY A CANDIDATE ON TV
pathetic
That video accomplished nothing. The guy could have just said, "I agree with Fred Thompson" and been done with it. And Kinky Friedman wants his image back.
They sure have a twisted take on "the American way", "Hands off my liberty" and "rouge judges". You ain't as free as you think A-hole.
They sure have a twisted take on "the American way", "hands off my liberty" and "rouge judges". You ain't as free as you think you are, A-hole!
Crushes are reserved for a man and a woman, not a man and his unnatural desires for a political position.
We've the lustful attitudes of conservatives towards Ronald Reagan that borders on obscene, and now Thompson?
If we allow these kind of crushes, what's next?
Crushes on dogs? That's sick.
c'mon, logan, everyone already knows nixon was right, fred thompson's dumb as hell.
NEWS, bro. we need some NEWS.
And they said the writers were on strike!
I guess only the good writers are on strike.
I think it's sweet that they want Forrest Gump as president. Sure explains why they are sticking to Bush. But really do they pay attention? The greatest prok for the past 7 years has been from Republicans.
Yeah I know, they've been saying "Dems" so long that they can't even see the truth for themselves.
The biggest deficit in the history of the U.S. caused by Republicans looting the treasury for their own self-serving interests and they say the DEMS like pork ? You're in love with your own dementia , shitkicker .
BWAHAHAHA! I thought that was an anti-Grandpa Fred video! That's hysterical -- they're really taking themselves seriously? It seemed like some kind of tongue-in-cheek satire... is that really not what it is?
The only thing I'm afraid of is if the GOP (especially Romney) were to decide to put Governor Sarah Palin on the ticket for VP in '08. There's been some talk about this. Check her out.
This video shows the greatness of America -- everyone is free to be a moron if they want to be a moron.
How about a constitutional amendment against man on man crushes?
Made Casey Kasem puke.
It's pure satire....I think? If not, one of the best unintentional parodies of the last couple of years!!
hilarious!
(let's do one about "huck" huckabee)
Dems love pork? Bwhahahaha! How's that bridge to nowhere working out?
"Fair tax"? Beware Orwellian slogans dressed in sheep's clothing.
I sure hope the GOP nominates that hick Huckabee! The Dems will take him to the cleaners!
If that wasn't satire it was sad.
Those hand signs said Fred Thompson for Prez?...........hokey smokes Bullwinkle, I thought they said Fried Thomatoes for Preznit........;-)
...and they had to rip off an iconic Dylan video into the bargain. Sheesh.
Boy Howdy! *burp*
2 + 2 = !!!!!!!!!111eleven111111!!!!!!!! Republicans PWN the damn demoncraps.
I'm amazed anyone was able to sit through this unsmart, unfunny crap. Must be you don't have anything else to do.
"Hey Rocky. . . watch me pull a Rabbit out of my hat"
"Fan mail from some flounder?" ;-)
Plisko @ 28:
"A floating cross? I gotta get a new hat!"
I like his guitar playing...
The shitkicker wouldn't be leaning on the hood of that fancy Mustang if the farmers weren't still getting that liberal farm subsidies program.
$10 a bushel for wheat and they are still getting subsistence
In an unscripted moment someone should ask Freddy T. how many stars and stripes are on the American Flag. He'd probably say two bars and thirteen stars.
As long as the Red-Necked, Sh*t-Kicking, Foot-Stompers are together as a group, we should hire an organist to backdrop them, and use them as Huckabee's opening act.
Unbelievably lame and pathetic.
Oh, well ...
This just popped up:
Hoover Planned Mass Jailing in 1950
A newly declassified document shows that J. Edgar Hoover, the longtime director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, had a plan to suspend habeas corpus and imprison some 12,000 Americans he suspected of disloyalty.
I realize ad-hominem attacks do not constitute actual intellectual debate, but is there any conclusion one can reach from watching this video other than that the average Republican is a complete moron? Seriously? "Hands off my liberty," jackass? YOUR PARTY IS THE ONE TAKING YOUR LIBERTIES, FUCKNUT! Oh, wait - I think when he says "hands off my liberty," he really means "hands off my MONEY," doesn't he? Yeah, anybody with a functioning brain knows that the average Republican, under the duress of waterboarding, would confess that the only "liberty" he's worried about losing is his income - PERIOD. My economically paranoid father is proof-positive of this species. So Republicans use the same completely empty and misleading catch-phrases, throw in a little faux-patriotism, and then insult a Clinton -- their favorite and soon-to-be ONLY pastime -- and there you have their undying platform. Again, it's not that I want the political debate to end at the ad-hominem attack, but given the grand stupidity of this video (and almost all of their talking heads' talking points), are we left any alternative? The only conclusion a reasonable and informed person can reach is simple: there has never been a larger, more condensed, obsessed and aggressive group of bullying simpletons in history than the current Republican Party. In fact, the only other group of simpletons I can think of that ever achieved such an important status anywhere in America is the Tyrannosaurus-Rex. Hopefully the GOP will follow more quickly in the footsteps of its most similar predecessor, if only for the ironic pleasure of people like me.
The video is a well produced and well financed piece of misinformation. While actually saying nothing it implies much. Typical propaganda.
Dems like pork? Well..Republicans like gettin' porked in the Mens Room (airports are best).
it's ironic that they stole their video concept from Bob Dillon...do these idiots even have a single clue?
Murray Rizberg @ 37:
You nailed it, that why these idiots think that if the stock market does good for a single day then it's a sign of a strong economy. The only Republican value is their devotion to the all mighty dollar. so why these people claim to be the party of God, God doesn't want shit to do with our money and if you asked I'm sure it would be requested that you remove any mention of God on the money itself. But again, Republicans fear brown, black or rainbow while they bow down to green.
Incoherent. He just finishes saying the IRS has to go, then says he's in favor of something called "fair tax." Who the hell does he think would collect it, little green men?
"September 11th, Never Forget"?
.
What is this "September 11th" to which they refer?
.
I vaguely remember something.... nope, it's gone...
.
anybody?
.
anyone?
.
Buler?
I couldn't even watch the whole thing.
Geez...what is it? The moonshine? The air? Their mother's diet when they were in the womb? There has to be a reason for all the dead brain cells on the right.
This group would be great at playing Amato's and BlueGal's song,
'I've Got A Crush On You'
I wonder what it would take to get them to do a bit here on C&L, as a Christmas surprise for them?
The sad part 9/11= Osama bin Laden they just continue to forget. It's like they couldn't fight there way out of a wet paper bag.
I found the high production values, clever writing and hot girl very compelling.
I'm gonna ditch 32 years of being a liberal Democrat and party activist and send my support, my money, my vote and my first-born to Fred Thompson. He's an obvous natural leader with his finger on the pulse of America's true heart.
And that cowboy hat he wears just melts away the pounds, the years, and the jowls!
Fred!
Fred!
Fred!
Fred!
Why call attention to this? It's not worthy of a post. The 12 days of Liberal Christmas, now THAT was bone crushingly bad. This video was merely talent free. I got a little past the halfway point and lost all interest.
I didn't think it was that funny because it looks like it will appeal to a lot of uninformed people. It's actually a well-done ad considering the target audience. I mean, there's a reason why cigarette companies can still get people to try tobacco - marketing strategy can overcome anything.
Dahgrostab'ph-r-i @ 40:
I'm sure that's no accident either. They're trying to pull in the "anti-establishment" people. No, they have no clue.
these reasonphobe righties are in love with Dick Wolf's worst hire
I made it through about a third of this, which is a lot for a right-wing video. It seems pointless. Why bother?
I hate to see knee-jerk liberal posts like this! Although I disagree with every sentiment expressed in this video, I thought it was clever and had a catchy song. If it were from a liberal candidate with liberal sentiment, most people here would be fawning all over it. Do you know what awful things conservatives are probably saying about Mike Gravel's ad (posted below) simply because it has some liberal messages? By denigrating it as unintentionally funny, we justify the knee-jerk dialogue of the right. We should have higher standards for ourselves!
God, I hate stupidity and Republicans. I don't know how much more I can take.
I just forced myself to watch the whole thing. It didn't seem very clever to me, to be honest. Simply proclaiming, "left's wrong!" and such doesn't make for a strong argument.
Totally uninteresting except for that "9/11 Never Forget" at the end, which got my blood boiling a bit.
Vapid.
This guy is no John Fogerty
A real toe tapper. Republican toes will be tappin' to this in bathrooms across the Land of the Free.
Gavin @ 3:
Yes. Yes you are. No trashing BarelyPolitical. ;)
Interestingly... The guy who posted the video (maybe the actual performer) has his comments set so you can't comment on his nonlinear nonsense anything unless he approves it... scardycat.
Oh yea... Re: 54 Rob Says: "I hate to see knee-jerk liberal posts like this..."
Be serious... Republicans have owned "knee-Jerkism" for many years... remember the rubber stamp congress of a year ago? Take a hot bath and relax, bud.
