Official GOP Spokesperson Ann Coulter Snubbed By CPAC
By Logan Murphy Sunday Feb 03, 2008 11:01am
Ann Coulter speaks for the base of the GOP, but apparently organizers of the Conservative Political Action Committee have decided not to invite her to speak at this years convention. She was quite the hit last year with her derogatory comment about John Edwards, but all good things must come to an end. More from Think Progress:
On February 7-9, conservatives from around the country will gather in Washington, D.C. for the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). This year, one of the darlings of the far right’s oft-distasteful and unpleasant punditry will not be invited:
She’s always been outrageous, but when conservative Ann Coulter talked of 9/11 “rag heads” at the 2006 Conservative Political Action Conference and linked the slur “faggot” to Sen. John Edwards in a 2007 speech, CPAC’s organizers decided to cut her from the list of speakers at the February 7-9 conference expected to draw 6,000. Read on...

Good! About time. Being a bitch for a living has its limits I guess.
I don't think she "speaks for the base." I'd prefer it if we didn't use the same tactics that the right wing uses who claim some of the liberal nutballs speak for us.
Coulter speaks for the extreme right wing. Their problem is that unlike us, they don't denounce the whack-jobs who are "on their side." That doesn't mean she speaks for them.
I'm sure the argument will be made that she does speak for them since they seem to be ok with what she says and don't say different.
I guess it is OK to call a candidate a fag. But say your voting for a Democrat is off limits?God! These people are friggin crazy.
However the article also states:
A few of Coulter’s supporters found a way for her to appear at the conference. Five of this year’s CPAC sponsors — the Young America’s Foundation (YAF), Human Events, Townhall.com, Citizens United, and Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute — have decided to hold a “Q & A session” with Coulter that “is not part of the general sessions.”
Whats bullshit is we have to listen to the news cover her whack-job comments with no repercussions while the moveon.org ad gets denounced by congress even though it is true.
Spanked!
But in this case it probably did hurt them worse than her, on her bony ass.
I thought women did not have Adam's Apples...
Tell me why congress didn't condem this statement.
"Soldiers are just cowards with their backs against the wall. The lowest IQ men in our society, those incapable of normal careers enlist. Their choice in life; prison or the military. Some will have to die in the support of our cause."
Ann Coulter – 11/06/03
FAIL
"I didn't say the steak was tough, dear - I merely said that I didn't see that old HORSE tethered up
outside this morning"
Well, and why wouldn't they snub her? After all she announced campaigning for the prospective Democratic nominee against the prospective Republican one..
Yeah, but she still gets to speak for YAF. It''s all cover, they still love her.
Who the hell cares. She's nothing but a windbag who says ridiculous and callous things to sell her books. And it seems to be working because everyone wants to hear her next outrageous statements. Personally, I don't even pay attention to her.
that wretched black hearted bitch can kiss my ass. She's going to have a very lonely life from here on out........good.....couldn't happen to a more deserving bitch.
Read the article. She's gonna come in the back door anyway. And you best believe the media will be right there to capture whatever lunacy she says this time.
Ah, gotta love ratings-based politics.
Well, let's take a look at the schedule without Ann, shall we? There's still a lot to love!
I suppose the fact that this is an election year had no bearing on the decision. Let me go out on a limb here and predict she won't be speaking at the Repuke convention either.
That's when they'll trot out the GOP's token "moderates" and minorities (assuming they can still find some) and anyone else who can temper their well-deserved reputation as far-right, far-too-white zealots.
Oh Annie? The clock apparently is finally striking midnight, your 15 are up honey... Time to retire that little black dress thing of yours along with your sadass career...D
Another artifact of the Bush era loses her luster-say hi to Dennis Miller & Fox News on your wa\y to oblivion!
i bet its because of her recent "endorsement" of Hillary Clinton
That evil crazy slut is soon to be half-caste. Now the Republicans don't want her and we liberals sure in the fuck want no parts of this bitch.
while (m)ann deserves extreme criticism and pure disrespect...
do not, even for a second, think that CPAC is somehow becoming less militant, neofascist and corporate-sucking.
speakers invited:
dick cheney
brent bozo
ken 'disenfranchiser' blackwell
bob 'rovian errand boy' novakula
some of the knuckle dragging sponsors:
worldnetdaily
townhall
eagle forum
nra
romney for pres-peror
the atlas society
human events
americans for tax reform
liberty university
washington times
heritage foundation
while any shunning of (m)ann is encouraged, i think not inviting her is not b/c they disagree or dislike her, but that her views (which they share) are more readily picked up by the msm and expose the CPAC for what it is: a hate-filled, dangerous, unamerican, neofascist group of thugs trying to peddle a failed ideology, who are willing to piss on the country in order to further their designs on power.
CafeenMan @ 3:
I'd be interested in who you think serves as the liberal counterpart of Coulter. The person would have to be as unapologetically offensive as her, have about as many books published, get about as much airtime, and earn about as much to appear.
Figures. A single, childless woman with a career (such as it is) outside the home sends the wrong message to conservatives.
did she really think she could get away with that bs and not have any repercussions? She really is mentally ill...that's the only rational explanation.and of course......the right wing went along with it....until she outlived her purpose. She thought she was important...now she's been discarded like and old dishrag.....couldn't happen to a more deserving hag.
I'm obviously progressive and am enjoying watching the Republicans commit fratricide, but Coulter's disloyalty is amazing. She's just an attention and money grubbing whore.
Memo to the world (including C&L): STOP PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS BITCH.
~thank you.
Even the Republicans realize that her incendiary rhetoric is potentially damaging in an election year. Therefore as much as they love her, she is off limits for now. But wait 'til after november, she will be in again.
she must have some kind of security detail........how else could she go out in public?
I franckly believe that the worse mistake she made was to say that Jews had to be perfected. This will kill her career...
Albatross @ 25:
I've yet to come across a liberal as offensive as her but there are whackos at all extremes of the polical spectrum. That's what I was referring to. A whacko liberal says something, well, whacko and all of the sudden the neo-cons are claiming that person speaks for all liberals. See what I mean?
I will say that I'm really glad she's on their side.
CafeenMan @ 33:
these days who can you be sure of is on your side? thiers no devideing line anymore between both partys !
She really looks bad. All that booze and amphetimines have taken their toll.
CafeenMan @ 3:
When they respond to her outrageous comments with generous applause and public support for how nice a person she is then she speaks for them.
Bush the Liar @ 10:
This quote is false. I dislike her but it's important to clarify that she didn't actually say this.
WOW!
Even conservatives are getting sick of her.
Well, apparently that started waaaaayy back..
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MmVhMGI5NGFjZjIxMjBmMTE5N2FlYzgzNGF...
tangentially...
has any "reporter" asked mitt about ann? she supports him, does he support her?
Thank you Typhonis, I didnt think anyone would make such an outrageous statement, even that woman.
She was not invited because she shrieks about their candidate, McCain, if she was on board with Insane McCain she would likely would have gotten invited to throw bones to the snarling dogs who listen to her.
jwf @ 35:
A crack whore only no one wants to bang her unless THEY get paid first.
Thoughtful, common sense decision from CPAC, I'm impressed.
Well the GOP'ers are learning. The likes of Annie do not add to your movement..they shave off participants. Soon it will be FOX that changes it's tone..then Limbaugh..and so forth. It took a while but that crap does NOT WORK..and now they know it.
Clearly the right wing has realized that Ann has reached her "best before" date. In this case it was before they realized that they need the votes of some of the people they have demonized as liberals in order to have some sort of presence in congress. Out of Iraq anyone? Side order of health care?
Is it true (m)ann will star in the next Batman movie as the mate of the Scarecrow?
You mean she finally became SO insane that the nut-jobs think she is insane? Wow. That's pretty damned insane.
OH NO YOU DON'T GOP!.....you take her back, we don't want her!
[deleted - do not advocate violence here]
Peter G @ 36:
Absolutely. They keep inviting her to various events, bulk buying her shitty books to give the impression that she actually has something worth paying to read, laughing at her asinine statements, etc. When they forcefully respond to her offensive performance art, shut her out of public appearances at The Heritage Foundation, et.al, then you can claim she doesn't speak for the right. Until that time she's one of their spokespeople/hacks.
Ronin Tetsuro @ 17:
She probably likes it in the backdoor.
kerplunk @ 6:
So in effect they distance themselves from extremism to appear more balanced to Independents and main stream voters but still backdoor her in for their own party wackjobs. Everybody is happy as long as people don't look at the details.
ysbaddaden @ 50:
Man, I could have lived without that image in my head!! Goddamn!!
After the past seven years I did not think it was possible to embaress a republican.
After all look at all the shit these slime balls have been into. Wow.
Aww... Poor Ann. She used to get invited to all the 'cool' parties.
Now everyone's figured out that she's just a hatemonger in women's clothing.
She just didn't realize that she embodies everything that everyone left of her ( including fellow conservatives ) hate.
So to her a say ( *channeling Nelson from the Simpsons * ) Ha ha!
Mark @ 48:
There would be a follow up article about a pack of wild dogs becoming terribly ill and dying, due to something they ate.
[refers to deleted post]
I've seen dogs eat cat feces but I think they're much to discriminating to be interested in eating that.
frank bonas jr @ 42:
Even a broken clock is right twice a day...........and that ain't sayin much.
Every time I go to the library (bookstores too), I take a few volumes of her filth and hide them deeep in the stacks.
Always puts a little spring in my step.
Admittedly I didn't watch the SOTU but didn't bush say the dems want to spend too much money? Check this out.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22990613
President Bush unveiled a $3.1 trillion budget proposal on Monday that supports a sizable increase in military spending to fight the war on terrorism and protects his signature tax cuts.
He also seeks to eliminate or sharply slash 151 programs he considers unnecessary.
Bush targeted many of the same programs last year but Congress rejected the effort.
The largest number of program terminations - 47 - are in education including elimination of programs to encourage arts in schools, bring low-income students on trips to Washington and provide mental health services.
jwf @ 49:
Who goes to those things but their fringe elements? I know a lot of republicans and *most* of them aren't crazy and *most* of them don't buy coulter books.
My point is that it's not honest to pick their nuttiest members and say that they speak for them as if they're typical. They aren't. Nuts always get into the news. Normal is boring.
Agree or disagree I prefer honesty.
By the way, some smokers live to be 110. Therefore they are typical smokers.
If you're taking what I'm saying as if I have any love for the right wing or coulter then you're really not getting it. Coulter is a piece of shit attention whore who earns her money saying the most outrageous things her little brain can think of.
I don't know one republican personally who would have the low class to say the 9/11 widows losing their husbands was the best thing that ever happened to them and I'll bet nobody here does either. And if you do you're way in the minority.
CafeenMan @ 3:
I completely disagree with this post. Not only have they never denounced her, they have rewarded her with many high-profile speaking engagements at major Republican conventions. When they pay her substantial sums of money to speak in front of them, how can you say that she doesn't speak for them?!
Have the Boy Scouts dropped her?
I haven't heard very many people(if any) call her out for her hate filled rhetoric.....and for awhile there(over 6 years) she had a cult like following.
mudshark @ 63:
people on the right that is.
pissed off patricia @ 55:
this is not to mention that all these dogs have turned down humping her leg for
larry craig's leg.
Did anyone else look and see Ron Paul is invited to speak.
Cruella meets Robo-Candidate
CafeenMan @ 60:
Yeah, me too. And I don't think it's honest to draw an analogy between Ann Coulter--who has been shamelessly promoted by major national right-wing media outlets and Republican committees for far too many years--and some trivial, whacko lefty bloggers and such.
rekroc @ 61:
I can say it because they pay her to speak TO them and "them" are the far right nuts who want things to be as divisive as possible. They aren't typical republicans.
Does Jesse Jackson speak for you? They say he does.
CafeenMan @ 69:
No, they're not "far right nuts." They're major right-wing news outlets and major Republican fundraising committees. They're the ones who are basically running the party's agenda. If you can't see that, you haven't been paying much attention.
You're comparing Jesse Jackson to Ann Coulter?? WOW.
She has the largest Adam's apple of any woman I've ever seen.
hmmm...
rekroc @ 68:
Maybe the analogy sucks - I'm not real good at them but ask your republican acquaintances if they agree with the views of Ann Coulter - that liberals should be sent to the gas chambers, that supreme court judges should be assassinated, etc. I'll bet you'll find most republicans that aren't on the fringe would find her pretty offensive as well.
But the media doesn't ask me what I think and they don't ask your republican on the street what she thinks either. The nut-jobs on TV aren't representing anyone but themselves.
Haven't we figured that out yet? The GOP doesn't represent. They want to rule. They couldn't even care less about the folks who help get them in office once they're there. It's not like they're going to share the wealth.
If Ann Coulter were typical then what she says wouldn't be so outrageous because a lot of republicans you know personally would be saying the same shit. But they don't, do they?
CafeenMan @ 60:
I'm sorry, but for me, it's just a matter of degree. She says in very blunt and offensive what a lot of Republicans only like to whisper. She's regularly given a platform by the "fringe" groups which comprise a significant portion of the Republican base. In the past, I had occasionally voted Republican, but since the late '80's, the public persona of the party has been misogynistic, racist, (closeted) homophobic, economically and environmentally irresponsible, and flat-out wrong on every major issue. Very few "reasonable" republicans exist, and the few that do means not only voting for a person, but for atrocious leadership. Case in point: Newt Gingrich and Bill Frist.
One more thing... Coulter basically spews the same right-wing talking points that more "intellectual" pundits like Krauthammer and Kristol do, except with more vicious language.
"You’re comparing Jesse Jackson to Ann Coulter?? WOW."
OK, I give up. It's one thing to not agree but it's another to miss the point on purpose. I didn't say Jesse Jackson was anything like Coulter. The comparison and only comparison I made was one ideological group choosing someone for a different groups and claiming that person "speaks" for them.
Jackson doesn't speak for the majority of liberals any more than coulter speaks for the majority of republicans.
Now it's almost like I'm defending republicans which I'm not. I'm saying let's not drag ourselves down to their level with this simplistic schoolyard nonsense.
Have a nice day. Save whale. Hug a baby seal. Don't park on sidewalks except in San Francisco.
CafeenMan @ 3:
Perhaps you can name one or two liberal nutjobs that even compare to the likes of Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity? I cannot think of any, so your comparison is extremely uneven. Rightwingers don't denounce the hate radio/hate talk circuit crowd because they argree with their hateful spew.
I don't know about you...but I have met some pretty crazy wingnuts out there.....and some of them actually believe her spiel......there the ones who call me a "Bleeding Heart Liberal".....oh yeah.....there out there allright......let there be no doubt in your mind.
Litabell - I already said I don't know any liberals who are as vile as Coulter or any that you mentioned. I'm not comparing viotrol. I'm comparing nuttiness. :)
There are some very crazy, love everybody, loons running around. Even though they don't want to hurt anyone I don't want them speaking for me either.
CafeenMan @ 72:
They don't use the same language, but they usually either agree with the underlying sentiment or they find her words amusing.
We're talking about the established party of torture here, after all...
She'll be too busy campaigning for Hillary anyway
CafeenMan @ 75:
Did it ever occur to you that I'm missing your point, not "on purpose," but because it's just not a good point?
The issue here isn't about Republicans you happen to know, it's about the type of people the major right-wing media outlets and fundraising committees employ to get their message across... to "speak for them."
By the way, most Republicans I know don't really care about much beyond their own wallets. They seem to have this ability to ignore quit a bit, as long as they keep getting those tax cuts.
Well, republicans suck. That's self-evident. :)
I work nights so it's time for me to snooze. Peace.
Probably a good call to leave her out...
This is a shocking development. For the GOP to exclude Annie just seems to equate to DISAVOWING REAGAN..!
So the GOP must plan on recycling the Bill Bennetts, Newts, et al. In hopes we have forgotten that they are partisans with montains of hypocrisy.
But reliable FOX and corporate networks still hold to the vile vote of their party...........
When the GOP cannot stand on their merit or give reasons to vote for them, against our own best interests. It is time to appeal to hating the opposition for fabricated excuses.
Nothing new, just the GOP's version of "Going Green" recycling of their Crooks and Liars.
I must comment on the photo of Ann and Willard.
They just don't make as good a couple as Annie and Newt would.
What a GOP presidential primary ticket that would be. Newt/Coulter for the GOP.
Remember FOX's half hour News hour (comedy attempt)?
The episode where Rush was President and Coulter was V.P....
The GOP should actually run with it................................................................................
mudshark @ 77:
I've never really understood how that term is supposed to be derogatory. The opposite would be what... "blood-sucking conservative"? I'd prefer being labeled a "bleeding heart liberal" any day!
She finally jumped the shark. Too bad it didn't happen a long time ago.
This is interesting, a single never-married career woman who never been seen dating a man publicly calling a happily married man who has been with the same woman for many years the "F" word. What is wrong with this picture?
It seems to me that Ms Coulter maybe have been (or still) attracted to Mr. Edwards but is frustrated that she can't have him.
You protest too much, Ms Coulter!!!
Well, that was a no-brainer! But will any former porn-star, Purple Heart wearing, gay-for-pay Iraq Marines be allowed to attend?
SFnomad @ 87:
She crashed into the shark tank, the shark took one bite and spit her out like she was a bite of badly decomposed whale blubber.
I think comparing Coulter to Jackson or Sharpton is EXTREMELY apropos.....
How many times have those two nitwits gotten on TV and said things inflammatory that simply werent true just to boost their image screaming, "I'M STILL RELEVENT!" ??? Yet Democrats still feel the need to include them at the table, instead of kicking their sorry press peddling arses to the curb. How about Louis Farrakan? He's loved by a certain wing of the Democratic Party, yet I dont see it's establishment taking him to task with more tahn a passing snicker.
Coulter speaks for the Republicans just like those examples speak for the Dems.
Something about glass houses....I know I've heard it before.....
Wow...coulter makes romney look really dainty...with her square, manly-man-jaws.
With those manly, square jaws, coulter really makes romney look dainty doesn't (s)he?
HA!
Take THAT! Ya horse-faced skank!
Great....NOW it friggin works! Damn stupid intar-web!
