Tom Delay Orders Up His Seat To Witness Party Destruction
By Nicole Belle Thursday Feb 14, 2008 8:01pmThe disgraced Tom DeLay is now stumping for McCain in Arizona. DeLay once said that he "might have to sit this one out" if McCain won the nomination.
Flashback . . .
During a private luncheon with Republican chiefs of staff on Capitol Hill, DeLay — who has criticized McCain for years — stepped up his attacks in the wake of the senator’s reemergence as a top presidential contender. DeLay said McCain has no principles and indicated he would not endorse the senator if he won the GOP primary.[..]
He added that a McCain triumph for the GOP nomination would destroy the Republican Party.
Why is it that every time I think of the Republican party this election cycle, images of the Titanic keep coming to mind?

flip flop?
Oh Yeah, most definitely
Someone's feeling an overwhelming need to appear relevant. As for his claim the he "might have to sit this one out," it's been a long time since any Republican, let alone Tom Delay, has kept his word.
-AF
Actually I think Tom knows his best chance to destroy McCain is to try and help him. Let's face it, being associated with Tom will probably cost Johnny some votes off the bat.
this is why I think republicans are a joke. But their no ordinary joke.
No,......................their a deadly joke.
Isn't Delay under indictment or some such thing?
How can we describe this guy?
1. Liar (n.) One who tells lies:
• Baron von Mnchhausen

• fibber (colloquial)
• perjurer
• prevaricator

♥ (my fav) Republican
The best reason to vote for McCain
Pacifus @ 7:
is what?
He refers to the subject matter, what Delay said.
Nicole asked:
Why is it that every time I think of the Republican party this election cycle, images of the Titanic keep coming to mind?
No, Nicole. what you are seeing is a consolidation of the fascist party. Such a move on the part of a Democrat would be seen as hypocrisy, but that is only effective if you have integrity and are capable of independent thought. The Republican base has neither, and will respond to the leaders. They may not turn out enough to get a Republican win in November, but that is not the issue.
The point is this is just a typical example of fascist consolidation. I am fairly well convinced that the corporate masters have decided to punt this election. A democrat will get in, the economy will tank, and then the fascists can play "gotcha". In the meantime, expect to see increased "rallying around the candidate". I wouldn't be surprised if New Gingrich stumps for McCain.
Huckabee is the only one not taking orders from PNAC. Tom must have gotten his orders today.
He should only be making statements wearing an orange jumpsuit, and speaking from behind bars.
Oy. Man the lifeboats. Women and children first. And leave this piece of crap to go down with the ship of fools.
Bangkok Bob @ 8:
no shit!
wtf are you talkin about?
Last time I saw a kisser like that it was on a ldead large mouthed bass that washed up on shore and stayed there for several days.
Tom DeLay is a worthless piece of shit asshole. Why people like this seem to succeed in our society and the average person fails I'll never get used to. Fuck. I guess this world is set up for assholes cheaters and liars etc. I'd love to see that change.
What power or dirt do the Repug leaders have on all these Congressmen?
Please someone explain it to me.
Have the Neocons infiltrated the McPain camp to rule another 8 years (or more)?
Is it just the picture or is that a melanoma blossoming on his nose?
I prayed to jesus that when the republican party hits the iceberg
there are no survivors.
is that wrong?
ysbaddaden @ 15:
Pretty much sums up the clean water act.
Did he say this during his hour in the yard or something? What do you mean, "he's not in prison"?
Begin backwarded message @ 19:
Jesus love you, this I know.
mudshark @ 14:
Obviously, the destruction of the GOP! Please tell me you were distracted when you read this comment.
Why is this man not in jail?
Oh, right....IOKIYAR. My bad.
Jo @ 22:
Do we have to wait for them to hit an iceberg?
"DeLay said McCain has no principles and indicated he would not endorse the senator if he won the GOP primary.[..]
He added that a McCain triumph for the GOP nomination would destroy the Republican Party"...
A yes, a Texan of most high principles and standards!!! What an endorsement! What a fine representative of the Republican Party! sheesh!!
Doesn't he have a court date coming up here, pretty soon? Or did Mukasey decide not to prosecute?
Now that the deck chairs of the Titanic have been rearranged, we can all kick back and watch her go down!
Ron @ 25:
Well, the way the rats are jumping ship I'd say they hit something. Maybe just a big pile of shit.
Lol Nicole, Titanic, that's rather romantic, I'd put the GOP more in the position of the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee
:D
Why doesn't this asshole just go home and get ready for his pinstripes?
Personally I love it.
The man who did almost as much as GW Bush, Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich combined to destroy the republican party is now endorsing the guy he said would destroy the republican party.
You can't buy that kind of irony you know.
GonzoD @ 31:
He signed with the Yanks?
Damn you, Steinbrenner!!
Well he SHOULD get a front row seat. He was one of the architects that killed it. GO HAMMER GO!!! lol What a loser. Glad he's still around to watch his party, and conservatism, die a permanent death.
enor @ 17:
well,I certainly don't think they've thrown in the towel yet.And yes, they worked something out with McCain.Their not going to go quietly.
Jesus!
I hate this bug killer as much as I do bush.
He must be part of the ventriloquists guild for being able to talk so much shit with his mouth stuffed full of testicles.
DeLay's actually delusional enough to think his endorsement means anything?
I thought I smelled something funny in the air in Phoenix.... now I know why..... thankfully it is raining now and washing all that stink away.
Funny how he turned into a team player overnight. Maybe Bush's pardon comes with strings attached.
Oh, that Tom DeLay is a clever bastard. Or to quote CNN's Dana Bash, "astute". Can't you see that he is sucking up for the official White House pest exterminator post under the McCain administration? DeLay and Gingrich just won't let it go. By appearing on FOX and talk radio they continue to delude themselves that they are players in Washington. Through cut throat manipulation they were once at the top (hate to say it but facts are facts) but both were undone by greed and hubris. Enjoy your guest appearances, fellas, because your life in politics is over. Hannity and Hume may stroke your ego but I wouldn't expect anything less from those who earn their livelihood from toeing the party line.
Delay is "right", but only if you understand that by "Republican Party" he means the ultra-crazy ultra-right wing Southern maniac free market fundamentalist party which has built since the Reagan ascendancy.
The Bush Jr.-led destruction of the ultra-rightist Southern and Western domination of the Republican party has done what Democrats could not do for two generations -- set the stage for the Republican Party to go back to its natural base -- pro-Big Business moderates, not nation-destroying crazies.
Has Tom DeLay been convicted of anything?
Looks like trouble in paradise
The Republican party is already destroyed.
djr @ 23:
explain #7's comment for me.
Because too me,there isn't a good reason to vote for McCain.I thought it might be a snarky comment, but I don't know this person and theres no snark attached. So I took it at his word. That being said, why don't you explain someone elses comment for me.
.
mudshark @ 35:
It was on the radio today, Boehner (aka 'the Boner') was taped saying (and I am paraphrasing) 'the white house will be very pleased' the moment they all walked out of the House....
WTF?
The White House? - this same Administration with the worst favorable rating since they started recording those ratings in the 30's?
What kind of hold do they STILL have on these guys?
Is this Herbert Hoover all over again with all the dirt he had on everybody?
Please, I want to know???
E
If it is a titanic situation with the GOP, one can only hope that everyone on board will go down with the ship with absolutely no survivors.
enor @ 46:
are you referring to J.Edgar Hoover?
When do we do Democrats a favor and start vetting Obama?
All Republican survivors will be set for life already. They have permanent think conservative think tank institute positions (Max Boot, Kagan, Rumsfeld and others, etc.) or corporate positions to fall back on (AEI, Hoover, etc.).
Anyway, even if the democraps (GOP lite or DLC (Democrat LeaderSHIT Council)) prevail, it will still be the same. The corporations and military-industrial complex will still prevail.
Bush and corporation believe in the Vietnam pacification strategy for America (THEY HAVE TO DESTROY AMERICA TO SAVE IT).
Anyway, maybe Americans will be dumb enough to elect McCain because Hillary or Obama will be like Gore and Kerry (cut and run before the superiority of the Republicans). The democrats will wave the white flag at the first sign of their blood before the conquering Republicans.
Jo @ 29:
The iceberg they hit was named Bush. And instead of sinking in 3 hours like the Titanic, it is taking 8 very long years.
Obama is not a perfect candidate but he is the best of the worst of what passes for LEADERSHIT in America these days. Not quite Hobson's choice but close to it.
Hopefully, Pelosi, Feinstein and Reid can pen their memoirs of this period and title their book "Profiles In Cowardice) in contrast to JFK's "Profiles In Courage".
I used to like Hillary but the Iraq war and her vote on the Kyl-Lieberman amendment completely negate's Hillary's argument of experience. Experience but no judgement or wisdom.
On the bright side, if she or McCain become Prez of the US, the US can start WW III and America will finally face dire consequences and a precipitous fall.
The titanic was full of innocents. The GOP ship of fools is 100% full of a bunch of bastards who deserve everything bad that can happen to them.
Delay saying that McCain would destroy the GOP is like saying Karl Dönitz destroyed the Nazi party.
When does Tweety put him on Hardball or his other crappy show? , Sunday morning? Monday? Tuesday?
I guess DeLay noticed that McCain's a little bit more snaky and slimy than he used to be, too.
As long as there is no Celine Dion, I'm happy.
Wasn't it women and children first for the Titanic? Yet Boehner is still around. I is confused.
Blue Buddha @ 56:
In this reenactment, Celine Dion will be replaced by Ann Coulter.
Nicole, You shouldn't be thinking of Titanic....I think I'd be thinking more of For a Few Dollars More... You have the powerful ripping apart the country for their own selfishness, and we're in the middle....
Can we manage to escape without getting shot, either by the crazy conservatives, or by the crazy Radical Religionists (X-tian OR Muslim, makes no diff). Can we play them against each other without getting killed in the crossfire?
hmmmmmmm
Lipless turd
Actually, I think this incident is much simpler. Now that McCain has sufficiently pandered to the base, and lost his integrity, he's Delay's kind of man.
If Titanic is the metaphor we're using then I'm afraid the Republicans will find a way to lock the third class passengers below decks before they go down.
Tom Delay is a whore who will do it for anyone for any price.
This is news?
Have you ever wondered just how putrid a Republican has to be to get indicted by the current Justice department?
tom sure doesn't want a speedy trial. i would think that his delays are running out.
When it comes right down to it, Delay is a power-hungry corporatist. That is the reason that he got into politics in the first place when his bug killing business got taxed too darn much. Greed kills, too, Mr. Tom.
Joementum @ 33:
I set that one up, I thought John would hit it though.
Delay said he smiled during his mug shot because he wanted people to see Jesus Christ in his face. I saw a snake oil salesman, a charlatan, a criminal and the devil. No Jesus.
Why is it that every time I think of the Republican party this election cycle, images of the Titanic keep coming to mind?
Personally, I keep thinking DAS HINDENBURG
I don't get it. This fucko is still walking around not in an orange jump suit and not bleeding from his "bitchhole."
We need to get down on our knees and thank the vengeful Christian God for George Bush and Tom Delay for they have done something the Democrats could not have done, they have taken down the Republican Party!
Praise Jesus! There is a God after all and he's a Demmycrat!!
McCain will dump this sucker soon enough.....as soon as he feels a little more secure with the nomination. In general, it's mind boggling that Republicans would let this puppy even come in the backdoor. If they had any decency or even a sense of self preservation they would kick the little shit mongrel out of the house. They can't of course, because as the ultimate insider, he has the goods on all of the worthless fucks.
I enjoy watching these stupid ratbastards endorse McCain. They just don't seem to understand that Americans are finally waking up from their 7 year one-night stand, and they don't like the dickheads they brought home.
The winds of change blow a little harder every time someone of Delay's caliber climbs aboard the "straight talk express"...
Yes we can.
it only took a week for the lowest of the low to sniff McCain's ass... shows you just how little it takes for those phony Republican's to gather around anything with a pulse, if only to bask in what is left of their attempt to secure a Neocon's wet dream of total world domination. Thank God the pulse of the nation is better than that - I'm only sorry it took so long for us to wake up, considering how much damage they've done thus far.
All McPain had to do was promise DeLay all-expense paid golf junkets to Scotland.
Good. I'm glad Tom is getting "pimped out" for John McCain.
Peter G @ 62:
Heh, yeah, I was pretty much thinking along those lines.
It's America that's the Titanic. The Republican leadership are the rich, first class passengers who will get the limited supply of lifeboats.
mudshark @ 48:
Good call. Yes, I was. E
I think the larger point here is being missed and it really has nothing to do with just Tom Delay. It has to do with the bigger picture. In blog comments everywhere it is widely assumed by the more naive that once the Dems have a nominee, beating McCain is just a formality because of Bush. I could go on forever as to what brought this thinking about but I won't, but the key word is naivete.
Anybody who thought the Republicans would completely abandon McCain once he had the nomination, believed exactly what they wanted them to believe. The sorry truth is in the details. Yes, there's been a lot of people turning out for the primaries, but no, America does not really listen to the details of the campaign. This year is obviously no different. They might start paying attention by the middle of October, because as one person wrote me in a letter once that I will never forget, "I don't have time to worry about crap like that. I work. My husband works. We have two kids to take care of. And at the end of the day I just want to be relaxed and not have to listen to that nonsense."
When he starts campaigning for the General Election, McCain will start drawing some distance between him and Shrub, and you won't hear Bush's name mentioned at all. It's sort of like when the Republicans keep the more extreme elements of their party off of the convention stage to give voters the impression that they are all inclusive just in the nick of time. So if you're still thinking cake walk, you'd better think again.
Tommy @ 73:
So true. The lemmings are bunching up behind McCain cause they have no other place left to go except over the cliff on the "straight talk express".
I wish Hunter S Thompson had lived long enough to cover this election. He would have enjoyed it
"All we have to do is get out and vote, while it's still legal, and we will wash those crooked warmongers out of the White House."
--An oldie but a goodie from Hunter
-- and another
"Did you see Bush on TV, trying to debate? Jesus, he talked like a donkey with no brains at all...It was pitiful...I almost felt sorry for him, until I heard someone call him 'Mr. President,' and then I felt ashamed." -on Bush's 2004 debate performance"
loubie @ 49:
And your point is?
Yes?
Yes??
..... I thought so.
Delay = Liar Never trust a liar. So now McCain is good enough for you Mr. Tom Delay? Or are you just lying about support in return for political favors? Tell the truth for once Tom, you do not think McCain will be a good president do you?
enor @ 17:
Yes, McCain is another Bush!
Regarding delay's legal problems in Tejas:
"An indictment accusing DeLay of violating state election laws has been thrown out by the courts, but a money-laundering indictment relying upon the same campaign events is pending."
This is a quote from an American Statesman article (Jan, '08) regarding other issues of political in-fighting among the legal team that brought the indictments on T.D. From a larger point of view, the indictment is still very real... the only thing is that nobody will talk about them publicly... "... because we're in the middle of a political season, and the T.D. case is pending."
TEXAS POLITICS AS USUAL. Here's a link if you want to see all the sordid details:

Full speed ahead and good riddance!
They're hoisted by their own petard.
Push Tom Delay to the ground every time you see him, and laugh at him
If I thought that were the case I would sell my house and everything I had to give it to the Johnny McPuffycheeks for King Torturer of the World campaign. The obvious sell out of McCain's soul to the repug base is disgusting, but it only hurts McCain.
And when was the last time the Hammer was right about anything? Probably the last time Billy "the pussy" KKKristol was right, never.
What I want to know is who gives a fuck what Tom "givin' blow jobs for beer money" Delay has to say?
What's with the red beak on this guy? You tend to see that in alcoholics. Is Tom Delay a drinker, like his buddy George??
When the ship goes down I hope the Democrats don't make the mistake of throwing the Republicans a life preserver. They all deserve to go down with the ship.
Wow. When an utterly amoral criminal sociopath says that somebody else is himself unprincipled and amoral.....now, that's an endorsement! Who better to know?
I still prefer Stephen Colbert's analogy of the Hindenburg vs. the Titanic.
Gekke @ 30:
the Graf Spee, if it were crewed by the Donner Party
Orangutan. @ 16:
Well said!
Why is it that every time I think of the Republican party this election cycle, images of the Titanic keep coming to mind?
I think it's because the Republican party is just about as gay as Leonardo DiCaprio is!
Sorry Leo, I don't really think your gay...but I sure think the Republican party is nothing but a bunch of closeted fools, afraid of their own bodies...that's why they vote against the freedoms of average citizens, because if they can't be free...then we shouldn't be either!
Wishful thinking?
something i can agree with Delay on, let's all hope he's correct.
Peace!
Spicegal @ 88:
Is Tom Delay a drinker, Does the Hammer throw back a few? De Bugsprayer would clean out any liquor cabinet in short time. Get him and John Boehner together and you have lots of drinking and lots of crying. Course with last RePUG speaker of the house Danny Hastert you have to keep him away from smokehouses and big wrestlers.
It's always good to hear from Tom DeLay. Sometimes we forget just how hypocritical we humans can be on a variety of subjects, and then old Tom opens his mouth. I can still see him at his press conference in the congressional halls, announcing plans to start impeachment proceedings against Clilnton in the intern scandal. Yes, there he stood with three young knockout staffers standing behind him. Of course, I am sure they were all Rhodes Scholars and only got those positions on merit. Still, those weren't my first thoughts when I looked at the ladies.
Why isn't this man in jail, or at least, in round the clock meetings with lawyers looking to keep him out of jail?
why isn't this ass blanket in jail. The relationship with Abramoff alone should put him away for 35 years. Tom "The Hammer" Delay, Mr. Intimidation. He typifies the GOP a bunch of white, lying gas bags who got elected and believe the Treasury is for their personal use. I can't wait for all of these old farts from both parties to die and be cremated so we are sure they can never rise from the dead. Politics and the respect we all once had for it has been destroyed forever by these toe tapping, diaper wearing, child screwing, bribe taking, influence peddling, daughter screwing, hypocritical, pseudo christian, belong in Hell assholes.
