Dag- am I first? Sweet Jesus, I hate Cal Thomas
Cal Thomas is on permanent wank duty.
I could see this being a heavily debated subject. Kind of like your basic sex education STILL causes heated stirs between parents and schools. Public schools tend to cave on ideas if any kind of major debate is stirred up. This would be a doozy. I wouldn't want to be in the middle of it. Ugly.
I love how there are Gay Family Vacations ads on the same page.
If 96% are doing home schooling and private schools, he probably has a very small follwing.
ConcernedCanuck @ 3:
Thinking further, how dare these "christians" try to sway what should or should not be taught in schools. Bad enough they want the "lord's prayer" in there. Religion shouldn't be taught in public schools at all. So, if they want to ban teaching of same sex couples, perhaps it's time Grandma Religion was tossed out of the education system as well. Put that in private religious schools only.
My choice for Wanker of the Day here
I have read Cal Thomas over the years. I have never agreed with him on anything.
This "article" has not changed that.
This site keeps freezing up my Firefox session. This has been happening for a few days now. have to kill the application. Anyone else?
ConcernedCanuck @ 6:
Not to mention that they're constantly pushing intelligent design these days. Frankly I think we'd be better off teaching from the sacred texts of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Wow......
"It is about reflecting the worldview of the teachers unions, who are in the pocket of the Democratic Party. In other words, the Left uses public schools to produce the next generation of Democrats."
People have been saying this for decades, but the percentage of Democrats have remained constant (excluding this election). Republicans just have a weird fear of anything that is publically funded: public schools, public television, public radio, public funding of stem cells, ect. That fear explains a lot of their policies and the rise of Blackwater.
"The Web site for Gleason's group argues SB 777 essentially makes it lawful for public schools to 'indoctrinate' children as young as pre-kindergarten to accept as normal and morally acceptable homosexuality and "other sexually deviant lifestyles."
I don't understand why teaching kids to be tolerant is considered "indoctrination".
We The People
it doesn't say We Some of the People.

More of a Bob Dobber...
Proud2bHumble @ 26:
Go to Youtube and get ;Kissing Hank's Ass' Then get back to me.
I fail to see how teaching children about what they see on a daily basis in society is a bad thing. Children tend to be far less judgemental and nasty than adults. Explaining reality doesn't change that, nor does it indoctrinate them into anything.
I always find the "indoctrination" argument interesting. It always revolves around one group in a hissy fit because they don't have exclusive rights to perform the indoctrination.
Ok, and while I'm going hither at your request, go yon...
Proud2bHumble @ 29:
praise Bob! But,,,But Hank will give you a million dollars
David Hawes @ 27:

Ron @ 35:
Go to youtube and ask for ;Kissing Hank's Ass'. It is classic.
There are times when Cal Thomas is just annoying, and then there are times like this when he a raging asshole as well as an ignoramus. Let any homophobic zealots take their kids out of school, if they aren't already. As usual, his analogy is poor, since the government doesn't directly fund churches as they do public schools, and public school curriculums (depending on the subject) deal with facts, not beliefs.
David Hawes @ 34:
Like I said, (hint hint) Ahhm pray'n on't ass we speaks. Jesus!! lol ;-}
Ron @ 35:
Ya gotta stay outa them airport restrooms, Ron. Sorry 'bout yer allergies, though, lol. (please forgive me) ;-}

Proud2bHumble @ 39:

Ron @ 45:
Me too - Grindhouse: Death Proof
Have fun ;-}
Cal thats the only way they can get elected or have anyone believe this progressive bullshit, brainwash em....
.
When Pastor Ron Gleason can point out where Christ instructed His followers to "Hate their neighbors" then Dr. Ron Gleason will then become credible. Theology should NEVER be used to incite hate, an antithetical principle to what was taught by Christ. Forgiveness and compassion outweigh hatred and castigation of one's fellow man.
"Those without sin may cast the first stone." Is Pastor Ron Gleason sinless in the eyes of God and his Lord Jesus? If so, then he is superior to his fellow man and equal to his Lord, making himself LIKE GOD, a true abomination!
Let's start to open his closet and begin discussing his sins then...
.
Cal Thomas got hit on in the 8th grade. He gave the boy a black eye. But he's fantasized about gay sex ever since. Too bad he is so ugly no male would want to go to bed with him.
miss_kitty @ 2:
Cal Thomas is in a neck and neck race with Pat Robertson to see which one Jesus thinks is a jerk.Since Frank Zappa wrote a song about Robertson called "Jesus Thinks You`re A Jerk," in 1988, it must be true.I have heard the for wanker one needs a more out of control ego,so Thomas fits the bill as does Jerry Falwell. And "Thomas is on permanent wank duty."Falwell is dead.So by my precise calculations All three Thomas,Robertson ,and Falwell share the award for wanker of the 20th century.Falwell, even though he is dead, and Thomas are neck and neck for second place to Robertson who seems to be far and away the front runner in the "Jesus thinks you`re a jerk"HIGHLY ACCLAIMED AND DUBIOUS AWARD FOR TELEVANGLISTS WHO REALLY ARE JERKS.Good luck to all the jerks and wankers. You make us proud.
With a name like Exodus Man-Date I'm kind of turned on! Let's get out of here, I'm seeing another man!
jimislord @ 9:
I finally got so tired of it I switched browsers. Try Camino or Sea Monkey.
"Indoctrinate" into the "gay lifestyle"? Now there's a tired shibboleth.
Um, no, Cal. People have their various orientations from birth -- sexual and otherwise. They don't suddenly "choose" to be this way or that. And if they do, well, that's still nobody's business.
I've always loved female feet -- from the time I was a toddler. Was I "indoctrinated" into it? No. Will I "indoctrinate" others into it? No. Other people like other parts of the anatomy. It's no big deal. Nobody cares -- except prurient, closeted prudes such as you and your conservative ilk.
Get a grip and quit being such a fearful, mossbacked jerk.
Instead of worrying about "teh gay," how about we teach math in our schools.
Being able to do long division was a requirement for my daughter to get into 1st grade here in Japan.
Don't get me started on the problems they have here, I could write a book, but, the fact is, if we don't get hot on math and science, there won't be anyone smart enough to solve the problems we are creating right now. Such as, how to live our lifestyle without an endless supply of oil, or how to live our lives without making so much pollution that we poison ourselves.
We need smart people to fix these things, not homophobes.
Someone should tell Cal (and chuck Norris too) that nobody is fooled by the cheap hair color. He became old and irrelevant long ago. it's one thing to make a hind end out of yourself, but do you have to do it to your children and other peoples' children too.
I'm glad that most children eventually come to hate their parents and rebel against this claptrap. In the long run, they end up damaged by inadequate educations and many reach adulthood without developing any critical thinking skills or practical useful knowledge. On the bright side, this insures that there will be a goober to take Cal's place.
I am a gay man who came out in 1990 and I have never heard the phrase "teh gay" - I have seen it used here and elsewhere now and then. Could someone please explain the origin and meaning of the phrase to me? Thanks!!!
Cal Thomas is obsessed with controlling what kids learn in schools. I have an article of his from back in the very early 1990's where he complains that schools are being used to perform social engineering.
As in, like, duh.
I'd have to find the article again to remember what his specific asinine beef was, but he definitely seems to be concerned that kids might learn something other than smug, self-assured Puritan bigotry in the U.S. public school system.
xoites defends Constitution @ 8:
For someone who spends as much paper and ink on "family values" and anti-gay tirades as Thomas has, before he shaved his moustache, he looked like the cop from the Village People.
I didn't bother to read past the first sentence since I have no patience for the kinda BS he's spewing, But I do agree with the basic premise that families should not be abrogating their responsibilities to teach their children their values and pass it off to a governmental industrialized school system. I mean why have kids if you didn't want to raise them? Of course the downside is people with fucked up values will pass them on, but better then spawning generations of kids raised by the school system.
Now it's the War on "Mommy" & "Daddy".
Coming soon...The War on "Nana".
I can hardly wait for The War on "Spot".
jwf @ 58:
Now he looks like the construction worker.
ConcernedCanuck @ 6:
Hells yeah!!! I'm gettin really damn tired of these xtians of convenience. They can suck it!
Hussein AND Proud @ 61:
<Now he looks like the construction worker.
Y-M-C-A! It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A!
Seriously though, with these gay-hating republics, it seem the more obsessed they are with the topic, the more they look like the people they think are destroying families.
"Gleason has found it difficult to start a fire among conservative Christians because apathy is like wet underbrush, but he is undeterred. He thinks that like those other fires with which California is familiar, the best time to get out is while you still can."
Coincidence that he's using FLAMING analogies?
Coincidence that I just said ANALogies?
Maybe Cal & Ted Haggert can start a fire,.... whooooo!
Chris H. @ 12:
I didn't know that they'd be teaching bathroom stall footsie - doesn't it take a republican to teach that course.
Cal needs to come out of the closet. Anybody that dislikes gays as much as Cal has personal issues
The government schools want to shape a child's mind in ways that reflect a mostly liberal, humanistic worldview. This has implications for a child's understanding of economics, foreign policy, American history and the size and purpose of government, in addition to what once were known as "traditional values." - Cal Hussein Thomas
It does indeed have implications. It means that children may learn accurate information about those things.
It cracks me up that conservatives seem to think they have some kind of God-given lock on the study of economics, foreign policy, and history, when based on my experience they are always wrong about those things.
Jim @ 56:
Anyone.....................anyone..................??
Jim @ 68:
I hain't gawt no idear.
liberalNmoderation @ 69:
Sorry...my grammar is terrible...I should have said..."Ah hain't gawt nary an idear." Better?
Rusty Shackleford @ 67:
Absolutely.
On virtually every issue, the cons aren't just wrong, they're spectacularly wrong. Factually, historically, and analytically they just make shit up, but they sound so convincing doing it that it almost sounds believable.
