Oklahoma State Rep. Goes On Anti-Gay Tirade
By Logan Murphy Saturday Mar 08, 2008 12:01pm
Mother of god, this is horrible. We nominate to the patheon of homo hate Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern (sallykern@okhouse.gov). She didn't know that she was being recorded in a meeting, so we get the a nice insight about what she thinks of her gay and lesbian constituents. Perhaps she doesn't think she has any.
About 30 seconds into this homobigoted, fact-free, BS screed, Rep. Kern actually says how she doesn't hate gays (of course not!), then proceeds to continue on her tirade of filth.
I don't think you need to guess which party Kern belongs to. This is a woman who sits on the Education Committee in the OK legislature. She's also a member of Mother Schlafly's Eagle Forum. Read on...
While there's no profanity in this clip, this is some of the most offensive language you'll ever hear.

heh, I'd like to see her say the same crap to Mary Cheney's face with Lynn and Dick standing by
I am intrigued by your comments and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Oklahoma seems to have a lot of biblical literalist flat-earthers.
I think someone should start a blog (not me) that keeps a log of Republican Congressional leaders bigoted remarks. In the past week Rep Steve King has made racial remarks and now this AND that is just one week. Just a place where anyone could see the comments. Over the years I can remember some, such as Trent Lott's statement. What happens is they say this crap and in a few days or weeks it is forgotten.
Whenever they protest toooo much one has to wonder.........?
How does anybody go about their lives carrying around all of that hate and ignorance? Unfortunately, it is out there among us. It is scary that she ever got close to children in the public school system. I've never seen a 2 year old in school. Must be something new. How do you teach 2 year old children to hate homosexuals? I am sick of all the ignorance that is paraded around as truth.
They'll erect a statue in her honor in Oklahoma ... a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil it. Then they'll all go home and fire up the gay porn and masturbate. Those, that is, who don't go to the local park restroom to blow a guy for real.
No, not all of them will do that. The rest will just beat their wives and/or kids. Then they'll get up on Sunday and go to church where they will be all smiles and Norman Rockwell ... and Jesus will weep.
erick @ 1:
Now, I'd pay money to watch that.
What a nut.
Impeach cheney and bush @ 8:
Better yet, have one of the Sunday talk shows get the Cheneys as guests, Show the clip, then ask for the Cheneys' response.
Perhaps the most horrific portion comes right at the end when she implicitly connects homosexuality to cancer. One can only hope that, when she least suspects it, she too will catch the gay.
Ah, rampaging bigotry. Alive and well in the conservative movement.
Offensive? Yes. Surprising? No.
This is the same line the bigots have used for 27 years: hit listeners with the one-two punch of recruitment and infection. Reagan and Bush I welcomed these haters with open arms; Clinton enabled them with his capitulations on "Don't Ask/Don't Tell" and DOMA; and Bush II gave them shelter inside the tent of "compassionate" conservatism.
Will this be a year of true change, or will we continue to elect executives and legislators who speak of inclusion in public and tell a very different story behind closed doors?
That bitch couldn't find Pittsburgh on a map.
"vur-MAWNT" - what a pinhead...
Phuz01 @ 13:
I'm guessing it will be the latter.
Good to know how our government employees spend their time instead of running things.
Jordan @ 2:
Hilarious!
It's the REPUBLICAN AGENDA that's ruining this nation.
If she and her ilk believe that this is what the majority of her constituents and the majority of the American public also believes, then why does she only say it when she thinks she is in a closed situation that will not leak out to the press and be reported to the general public? I have never been afraid to shout my convictions to the rooftops, so why doesn't she? Perhaps she realizes that the majority of Americans are not hateful, bigoted, homophobic, xenophobic, antifeminist buffoons that she and her friends are. Hey, honey, if you are so right, let's see you say it at 5:00PM on CNN while you're sitting next to John McCain and GWB. Yeah, I'll bet they'll just LOVE sitting next to your ass while you're spewing that bile. I mean, look how much they love the support and endorsements of Hagee, Robertson, Dobson and the rest - well, at least if they don't make they're support TOO public. Oh, and one other point that may be off topic but has bothered me for a long time about these fucking fundies: if you believe in the literal truth of the Bible, and that the truth of the Bible supercedes any science, and therefore believe that the earth is only between 6-10,000 years old then, pray tell, how long is a lightyear?
You know why the Republicans win elections? It's because they rightfully realized that what threatens this country isn't national bankruptcy or the prospect of never-ending war...
what threatens this country is homosexuals that are having abortions!!
^_^
"Terrorism or Islam"
That was choice. At least give her a couple of points for recognizing that they are distinctly different, but unfortunately she finds BOTH are a threat to America as she knows it. In all honesty I'm really not shocked at all by her words because she sounds exactly like typical Christian TV. If this is at all upsetting, please, please, spend sometime watching the 24/7 hate of Christian TV. If nothing else, please find time to tune in Mr. Hate Himself.... John Hagee. He really is the ass-pimple on the pumpkin. He hates women, he hates gays, he hates Democrats, he hates the welfare state, he hates minorities, he hates non-Neocons, he hates peace, grrrrrr he especially hates peace, and anything that could lead to peace.
To me this is just typical stuff I hear multiple times a day every single day. If you're at all surprised that she sounds a lot like many of her constituents, then you're pretty ignorant.
Oh .. and two thumbs up! to whoever captured this rant ..
MountainMan23 @ 18:
And Christianist Agenda. No better way to divide and destroy a country than along religious lines.
Britisher @ 17:
What can I do to protect my loved ones from teh GAY, and how many easy payments will it take if I call within the next ten minutes?
Well, the most salient point she makes is "...they're winning elections" Wonder why that is??
please email her and let her know what you think!!!
Otay @ 16:
________________________________________________________________________
Maybe she was reading the Bible and decided to take a breather. As evidenced by an Administrator at VA that seems to take lots of time as well.
Writers from the Daily Show and Countdown got to be getting this one ready for this week.
Wonder if Colbert or Rachel Maddow will get to meet her at the convention?
Number of times in my life someone has tried to make me a Christian - several hundred
Number of times in my life someone has tried to make me a homosexual - none
Disgusting, vile idiot... this needs to be blasted across the media. People need to understand that this is what you get when you peel back the mask. I hope their's a lightening bolt up there somewhere with here name on it.
This kind of ranting is based on the idea that we as a nation can not seem to puncture. The idea that gays are gays because they choose to be gay. They choose to be discriminated against, they choose to be at risk of beatings and murder just for the attention. I don't understand how people can come to this conclusion but they do. What is not brought into the light enough is that millions of people think that if the government were to treat gays equally GOD would punish everyone. Their GOD is a vindictive homophobic monster that will torture everyone forever if they show some tolerance.
Yikes. Obviously dove into the shallow end of the gene pool.
Rep Sally Kern answers question from Dom@19:
D@19: …pray tell, how long is a lightyear?
RSK: Why a year, silly. Is this a trick question??
oops.. make that 'there's' and with 'her' name on it {;)
One more sample of right wing, evangelical, ignorant dumb-bitch representation.
Are the good people of Oklahoma that stupid that they would want this witch representing them? I would certainly hope not.
Hope they use this clip come re-election time. It's time to root these ignorant morons OUT of government entirely. Let them stick voodoo dolls in their basements, but keep them out of our governments.
[Don't try that again. Really. Site Monitor]

i am absolutely disturbed. as a republican it's hard to defend my party with idiots like sally out there. it's really sad.
Zackery Fischer @ 359:
Many posters above have expressed similar concerns. However, what I think you forget is that Ms. Kern has a position of leadership, and the ability to influence and make laws that can hurt the very people she hates. She isn't just an ordinary citizen speaking her mind. Heck, the KKK have free speech rights, too. No one is advocating taking those away. But when someone is in a position of leadership, they have a responsibility. She can hate all she wants, but I don't think she should be using her position as a lawmaker to spout hate about a certain segment of her constituents, and ranting about how those constituents need to be oppressed. It's about oppression in this case, not free speech.
Well... I read a transcript of Ms. Kern's edifying diatribe against homosexuals, and I am astounded at the amount of scientific information contained therein. Who knew that homosexuals have a shorter lifespan than heteros? Somebody should tell that to Elton John and Senator Larry Craig. Also, apparently if a society embraces homosexuality, their moment in the sun will only be a few decades, according to some studies that Ms. Kern has perused in detail. I imagine that ancient Rome, Greece, Assyria, Babylon, the cultures of Canaan, and Hollywood were not included in these studies. And who would've thought that a gay teacher is far more dangerous than a crazed theocrat with a dirty bomb strapped to his chest in the middle of a crowded subway station? I always thought that all men were created equal, but according to Ms. Kern not all lifestyles are equal and certainly not all religions are equal. Which brings me to my next point: Islam. Yes, Islam is a threat to America. Not extremist Islamic terrorists, no sir. Islam itself. So we have homos and muslims, oh my, and we are screwed, no? And lastly, she talks about gay people infiltrating the political landscape. I mean, heterosexual people get elected, but gay people infiltrate. Dear close-minded transparent Sally Kern, I don't blame you for your bigoted views in the face of such collosal misinformation taking space in your brain. After all, I would not blame a person in a coma for wetting the bed, would I?
This is an all points bulletin: Be on the look out for "man-ish" looking lady in public restrooms in Oklahoma airports.
Remember who our senators are. Coburn - Inhofe
You have to live here to get the full effect of it.
I'm not homosexual but I've lived in Oklahoma most of my adult life. I'm a little bit educated but not as "highly" as this and most of these freaks will claim to be. I am well traveled and well read. I've spent some time doing the devils work..."entertainment"... behind the scenes. Even worse I did a little "REAL" journalism, back when a person could.
She's getting ready to run for U. S Senate!
Nice throwaway Moslem slam in there too. If she'd only remembered her Eagle Forum doctrines and dropped in a slam on them uppity fem'nists, she could've had a trifecta!
Dom @ 19:
They've fooled themselves. "Political correctness." They think that the majority of the public believes what they believe, and have been shamed into silence by a plague of political correctness.
That, and people like this are simply put fucking stupid. Racism is stupid. Homophobia is stupid. You can excuse it with ignorance if everyone around you is doing it, but the lights are going up on humanity and more and more we can see how destructive and childish these behaviors are. The people who are left doing it are doing it because they simply can't grasp what's real.
Does she have a democratic challenger? Let me know, because I'd gladly contribute to their campaign.
Sitting her, listening to that, jaw-dropped, thinking "Thats what insanity sounds like". Then as it went on, I began to feel bad (around when she made the comment about a local school board being taken over and controlled by gays, sounding like dialog from a bad 50's horror movie) because I suddenly thought how terrible it must be to live in fear like that. Constantly afraid that everything you think of as healthy, clean and holy, is under attack by the forces of evil. Then it struck me how clearly fear is the root driving force of all conservative ideology. So sad.
People like her never cease to amaze me. Downright sad and pathetic. I hope her god slaps her upside the head and reminds her that all humans are God's children. Love thy neighbor, but only if they are exactly like you?
What a blithering idiot! The ignorance level is pretty F'in scarey!
I hope she's getting bombarded with email replies from this.
The world is kicking our ass economically.... we are bleeding money to the middle east to pay for our oil...we are spending lives and trillions in Iraq, and our wonderful Congressional leaders are concentrating on the horrible ills of homosexuality.....man, I wish her daddy had been a homsexual.....
PurplePatriot @ 7:
LOL! They are church-goers. They gotta comply with the congregtion. If you don't follow the leader, you'll be assimilate from the herd.
erick @ 1:
Mary would be dumbfounded; Lynne would just stare like a rape woman; Dick would be pleased and endorse her.
As a member of the military, I wonder if the DoD has any plans in place for rooting out the gay where it exists and torturing the lower level gay for information on where the highest level of gay hides. After all, since homosexuality is a bigger threat than terrorism, we need to have a Global War on Gay, or GWOG. Then we could have our soldiers drive around San Francisco and wait until a parade goes off instead of the current policy of driving around Baghdad and waiting until an IED goes off.
Dear Mrs. Kerns,
I heartily approve of your position regarding homosexuality and I trust that with God's blessing you will strike the first blow in the Global War On Teh GAYS by pitchforking Larry Craig and then burning him as a witch on the steps of the Capitol.
P.S. My multiple sclerosis prevents me from attending your sermons, so do you think you could cure me of that with an anointed e-mail, in return for $1000?
The scariest part of her tirade was that she said she was a teacher. Not a professional educator, for sure, but fair and balanced, like Fox News. Just think of all those O K kids who were and probably are influenced by her.
And here in UT I have wonderful state reps like the dumbass Chris Buttars...it's up to us to keep these dips out of office!
only a RepubliCunt can squeeze so much bullshit into 3 minutes.
My country (the Netherlands) is doing just fine, gay marriage and all, thank you very much, the closest thing to destroying it will be Global Warming. Oh, sorry, of course that fact has a bias.
Just a typical bush voter. Notice the silence by the Head Dick in the Oval Office....
I was waiting to hear her head spin around and green pea soup spray out.
God, guns and gays.
Thats what republicans run their whole campaigns on.
I wonder what kind of threat a gay muslim would pose to her? What a douchebag.
Ben @ 46:
Ben, you've got yerself the foundations of one of them there Thinky-Tanks I done hear folks a-jawing about up'n Warshington--or is it Wahington?
[deleted - offensive, instantly banned. sitemonitor]
Hate to say it, but that's why I left my home state so many years ago - moved to Maine where the land is almost as pretty and the people you run into (generally) are just flat saner.
It's idiots like her that make me ashamed to be an Okie, sometimes. You can take out "gay" and substitute "Native American" or whatever target of convenience is needed.
Just sick.
This vid is no longer functioning on YouTube, neither are other political vids, anybody know why?
Here's more about Sally Kern. Apparently she isn't loved by many people. She also wants creationism taught in the schools.
Here's her email address if you want to contact her:
sallykern@okhouse.gov
Here's her government page.
And here's her defense. (She has none.)
I really like the way Sally stays on message, adhering to the oldest principle that the Republican party has always stood for; "You would be more acceptable, if you were more like me". Trickle that down, why don't you?
Roket:
LOL!
Actually, I should have asked: what is the DISTANCE of a lightyear? (i.e., if a star is said to be 100,000,000 lightyears away, how can it take that many years for the light to reach us when the earth is only 6-10,000 years old, and a lightyear is supposedly - since scientists, according to Ms. kern and her acolytes, are heathens - about 6 trillion miles?).
Ironic in Eureka Springs where she says the gays have taken over the city council, she says, "have you been there, you know, for the Passion play?" Hmmm, those gays must be really bad to make their city the one known for the Passion play.
Someone needs to ask her, WWJD??
I heard that. And this is not the first time, either.
BTW Rep Kern, it's a 'life', not a 'lahfestyul.'
Really.. this woman goosesteps with the best of the Nazis*
*Godwin's Law applies especially to inappropriate, inordinate, or hyperbolic comparisons of other situations. This is not inappropriate. This is what Nazis did. Hated on people for their life condition.
Ben @ 46:
So is the DoD rendering the Al-Queerda to places where US law doesn't apply, like Kansas, Mississippi, Alabama, or OKlanhoma? Seriously, the sad part is if you replace "homosexual" with "communist", "muslim" or "integration", it's the same shit spewed for the last 60 years. Why are those jug-blowing states so filled with fear?
The amount of ignorance, hate and bigotry in the US never ceases to amaze me. From this woman thinking she's being discreet to Ann Colter who hates on national airwaves.
Although the Bush administration has been a negative influence on the US (to say the least) it has brought to the surface all the racists, bigots, and haters for all to see.
at first i thought "patheon of homo hate" was a typo. but no, actually, the hate's a pathos, so it is actually a clever pun.
This is not a Republican Agenda! it is important to note that because those who hate will switch side to whoever has the power. For example, Condi Rice used to vote for a democrat but she switch side when Jimmy Carter didn't go to war during the hostage crisis. Condi is so filled with hate for the Muslim, that she is unwilling to have meaningful dialogue with "the enemy" as she calls them. I don't think you can shrug it off as a republican, because if you do, then you wont see them coming to join the other party, when Republican can no longer get elected. We have Joe Leiberman to warn us of that.
Funny how these idiots forget the bible verses about Judgment when they get all hopped up on hate.
anneyhussein @ 58:
Of course she wants creationism taught in schools. I figured as much as soon as I heard her say only facts should be taught in school. She's just like any other reality-challenged wingnut living in cognitive dissonance.
I wonder how she acted when it was time to bed down, an do the dirty deed? She's got two grown sons, wonder if their actually hers?
As vile as this woman seems to be, I suspect she's only saying what too many Americans still actually believe but will not say. And to me that's more scary than anything else.
Well, since the pattern for people like Ms. Kern is that they turn out to be sexual deviants of some sort, anybody want to play "Guess That Fetish"?
I suspect...
...Sally Kern...
...in the 7-11...
...screwing a flamingo.
this woman hates Christ and His teachings. Of course she forgets that Jesus never said anythign about homosexuality, but pointedly said something about not divorcing. Of course she ignores what Christ said.
If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons
Joe @ 74:
Electricity comes from electrons becoming unhinged. Morality comes from morons becoming unhinged.
Homosexuality=toe cancer? WTF?????
BadLifeStyle @ 56:
Congresswoman Kern! Is that you?
erick @ 1:
Why, the Cheneys and thier confused lesbian daughter would agree.
Ya know, because we have to win the war on terrah!
Par for the course. So what? She's a Rep in Oklahoma, and they get what they deserve. Ignorant bigots will always be around, they'll always push this garbage, and no one will change them. E-mailing her is pointless, talking to her is pointless, trying to get a sane person elected in her district is most probably pointless. I see she was born in Arkansas. Lincoln really should have let the South go, after we kicked their asses and freed the slaves. The only "cancer" threatening America is fundamentalist crap like this.
She has my vote in what is now the newly formed BOP party...
She was a teacher for 20 years. Now you know why your typical Okie is dumber than pigshit. Jesus! May this clip be spread far and wide on the Internets - she deserves to be a laughingstock. But I do see the faintest glimmer of hope - a Democrat took Denny Hastert's House seat, and Barack Obama is well on his way to being the Democratic Party nominee (sorry Hillarybots, but that's the way it is). Our national nightmare may soon be over.
First, Eureka Springs, then the World!
We're in Phase III! (deploying small dogs and taste)
Soon, the Mother of All Brunches.
Dom @ 61:
I thought the original question served pretty well, in the vein of "who is buried in Grant's tomb" but as explained, that's a very articulate and far more witty question. The trouble is only rational people "get it"--to Kerns and her ilk it's just a strange buzzing sound, probably made by SATAN!!!
spondee @ 82:
We bow before our Gay and Lesbian Overlords! :-)
[Deleted. Not liking the tone of this dadams. It's pretty easy to read between the lines. Read the commenting policy-Sitemonitor]
I've already weighed in on the Steve King matter. But seriously: Why don't blue states REALLY consider secession? I mean aren't you embarrassed? How can you progress when a half to a third of your country is comprised of village idiots? Seriously, you can't compromise with people who are pig-shit ignorant and bigoted; to attempt it would be akin to finding a middle ground between racism and non-racism, between rational and non-rational. It just can't be done. The point of the matter is that party re-alignments, whereby Republicans obtained support of the South and Mid-West, that occurred during the sixties split over civil rights: the south didn't - and probably still don't - want them, the north kinda did. It's little wonder that given its historic base, Republicans are generally made of poorer embittered whites who have no prospects (or desires) for change. I kind of feel sorry for these sots because I basically believe that ignorance can combated successfully through a secular, well-funded education. But given current sensibilities and priorities, we really don't have the time. So it's either time to shape up - i.e., get out of bible school and visited Barnes & Noble - or ship out.
I will say it again. Show me a republican and I'll show you a bigot.
[Dial it back-Sitemonitor]
Don't you just love how a bigot in the middle of their hateful rant will say "But I'm not prejudice" - sure your not, just because I hate all of a single group of people without getting to know any of them as actual people...don't make me a bigot does it? does it??
I sent an e-mail to this idiot to tell her that she is a bigot, maybe she can get together with the rest of her bigot-filled Republican party and they can all not hate gays together.
Dear Jesus, plesae hear my prayer. This is not snark. I say this with the utmost sincerity.
I pray to You to please use my soul as a beacon of truth. If indeed the hateful, American, right-wing republican "Christians" are right ... if they live Your word, please let my soul be the vessel of Truth. I humbly offer for You to strike me dead, cast my soul into Hell, and leave behind Your sacred scroll that the Truth can now be known that they have it right.
However, if they do not have it right, I still offer the same. Strike me dead, oh Lord, and cast my soul into Hell as a sacrifice so that you may then leave behind your sacred scroll that they do not have it righ
