Lara Logan is a big C&L favorite because she's been in a war zone and not backed down from right wing narratives. She joins Jon Stewart and rocks the house down with this astute observation of the American media.

That interview was great. I hope more people heed Lara's warnings and start recapturing their humanity and focus.

It Seems that Laura (correct spelling) Logan and Michael Ware are the only real journalist working for US news groups, sadly much of their work goes unpublished.
Were the citizens of the US to know the truth about what we are doing and have done, these folks in the Whitehouse would have been thrown out of office and War Trials would be going on right now. (And the US might be on her way to recovery.)
As I said before, this administration are like termites eating the foundation of the USA and need to be terminated (from office) before the halls of Justice and freedom crumble.
Ms. Logan should be on TV all the time. The Lara Logan channel. 24/7. She showed more intelligence, bravery, wit, and humanity in this brief clip than any 10 American newswomen show in a day. I feel just a little bit better about the world knowing she's out there.
Nice to see her, here. I've caught her on the BBC and elsewhere, and even there she's leagues beyond most of what passes for journalism.
Not at all bad on the eyes, either. :)

If the fascists had their way, their would be no press coverage at all. their propaganda outlets are concerned only with spewing a continuous stream of self-serving manipulations. None of the "news" outlets are serving the American public or living up to the duties as ordained in the Constitution. They are all deeply complicit co-conspirators in the crimes of the Bush regime. every one of them needs to be brought to justice by competent authority.

That is in fact the key question to this entire horror show. The fact that we the "consumers" of this country allow this to continue in our names defines our culture. This is what we've become and our children will pay a heavy price for our self-indulgence, sloth, greed and callous disregard for the humanity of the rest of the planet.
If I was an Xtian I suppose I could ask "GOD" to have mercy on our souls, but truth be told, we don't deserve any. More's the pity.

She has my total admiration for who she is and what she does. I remember she used to report from Iraq on Bob Shieffer's show before Katie Couric took over the desk.
I want to bear her children....I guess it's been a little over three years since we cancelled the cable. Fortunately, it's very difficult to get any TV reception here in PHX AZ. I wonder how I ever got anything done with that idiot box on. Can you imagine what it would be like if most reporters/journalists were like Laura?

I'll try to compose a list, some of which you may have to use a translator for (I use bablefish).
The way I found most of the on-line news sources was through Watching America.
Once you get there I just worked backwards in each of the stories. That will lead you to the originating newsgroup. It's a bit of trouble but worth is. Like I said, I will work on the list and save it in notepad and post it periodically.
I saw this last night as well. What a contrast with the fluff generally shown on all the cable news networks I am afraid. MSNBC just came up with "breaking news" that Tiger Woods has an injury. Suicidal thoughts would be understandable with such programming decisions....

I have a lot of respect for Lara as well but when Katy Couric last went to Bagdad to trumpet the administrations claims that things were improving (this was about a year ago), Lara was at her side finding only positive things to say as well.
She really looked like she was straining to do it and I have not seen her do it since. Katy later admitted she was pressured on several times by the administration to keep stories positive or lose access.

Nice to see a reporter with something of a soul -- at least someone who seems to get honestly frustrated with the state of things.

She's awesome. It's amazing that she's been able to persevere through the work politics and the risk to her own life to bring the story that we should be getting - especially in a climate when nobody else is doing likewise.

I first became aware of her a couple of years agowhen she faced down Laura Ingraham and gave the lie to the Cheney/Bush dog and pony propaganda. An absolutely superb video. My admiration for her continues to grow. Don't tell my wife, but I am head over heels in love with this South African bombshell (and Google saying she is married must be a lie :-)

Probably too late on this thread but I wanted to tell this story. Once Ms. Logan was under tremendous pressure to temper her negative reports from Iraq. I heard about it and wrote her a note at her email address listed on the CBS website. She answered me on her Blackberry from Iraq! She thanked me and said the support meant a lot to her. It was tooo coool!

I was in a place where I could watch CNN International and regualr American CNN for several days, and the difference was shocking. So much schlock and nonsense on the regualar CNN and such a broader view of many issues (war, economics, the environment) on CNN International.

The media in the U.S has been controlled by both big corporations and the Government for so long I don't think we would know the truth if it were standing in front of of us screaming. If some of us are exposed to the truth it automatically becomes labeled as tin-foil hat conspiracy theories. Of course that is the plan...after all, the United State of AmeriKa has the best mainstream media and Government money can buy. Personally I hardly ever watch news from any of the networks and NEVER their usual programming, that shit will rot your brain. Lately I find myself switching off CNN and MsNBC, more and more as they are showing bullshit or using something only to distract us. Case in point...the flooding in the Midwest. As devastating and disastrous as it is, now they are just plain gawking and rubber-necking. I live in the Midwest and if I were trying to save my home and/or town from flooding, the last thing I would want is some reporter and a bunch of cameramen getting in my way. Chernoff on CNN was doing a remote and actually asked some residents/volunteers to move aside who were probably assessing where to put more sandbags, so the camera could see a flooded agricultural field. I'm sorry but if I had been one of those guys, he might have found himself getting knocked into the water. Using misery of others just to get ratings and use it as distraction. I believe it's ALL corporate and Government controlled.
A website I frequent quite often is http://watchingamerica.com/News/. Less likely to have Government taint on it.

It's even worse that you think. We had people from the Australian show "The Chaser" interviewing people they met on the street and asking them when 9/11 happened. I'm sure a lot did get the right answer but there were people who got the day, month and year wrong (and a significant number at that).

Well, Logan made a point of saying people dont really know what is going on in Iraq. It would have been nice if perhaps Jon had aksed her to explain what IS going on in Iraq, rather than just agreeing that no one knows the true picture.
I have no way of proving this, but I'm thinking that there are a lot of journalists that are every bit as smart, principled and dedicated as Lara is. But since they're not as gorgeous, the powers that be don't want them to get the airtime.
