Gawker slams Drudge
By John Amato Monday Sep 08, 2008 6:00pmGawker slaps Drudge about the phony Oprah story. Like so many aspects of Sarah Palin's history, the Oprah story went contrary to logic and common sense.
As they say, it's too late though. The media have spoken. Truth be damned.

I'd like to see Palin on Amy Goodman's show.
Republicans are masters of shamelessness. Just put it out there loud enough and often enough and you frame the story/reality.
McCain = Change
Nope, some lies are just TOO big.
MY GOD Chuck Todd said he didn't know how long Palin could keep McCain "UP"...an image I'd rather NOT have in my head...go VIAGRA! (oops, not respectful?)
I would like to see Oprah put Palin on the show, and introduce her to a real pit bull.
How dare anybody question the Drudge story?!?!?!
She's a woman, damnit!!!
That's racist!!!
Wow! Nobody with two brain cells reads The Drudge Report for anything resembling news or truth...
Interesting though now this shit gets planted, huh KKKarl?
Abraham Jackemoff @ 1:
Or Rachel Maddow's...
They ought to put the whole Palin family on Jerry Springer
I'd like to see Oprah offer to have Palin on tomorrow with Joe Biden...
I'll fly you in first-class tonight, you sit down and spend an hour answering questions
from the audience and debating with your counterpart.
How long do you think it would take the McCain camp to turn that offer down?
Six seconds? Four seconds?
When was the last time Drudge had a story that had any bit of truth to it?
drudge has no credibility. who reads him anyway.
Going against Oprah? You might as well go against cherry pie, or baseball.
Oh snap!
Will we be seeing video of Obama telling the audience today that you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig?
I laughed out loud at the right wing radio outrage!
lyle @ 10:
Within the first second the conversation would be over and the phone disconnected.
LegallyBlonde @ 11:
Some find it difficult to trust a homophobic gay man, but they just don't understand the GOP.
With all due respect:
The media have spoken.
"Media" is the plural form of "medium."
Other than that, I agree with everything you've written. :)
I keep seeing things like 'are the American people dumb enough to fall for it' and 'the American people are smarter than that' coming from democrats/Obama.
Ya know, until the democrats and especially Obama understand that American's ARE dumb enough to fall for it, and that American people AREN'T smarter than that they might as well prepare for another 4 years of Bush policies.
So come on, let's be honest...the American people 'elected' Bush twice, they aren't smart, these cheap GOP tactics will continue to work until the democrats embrace our stupidity.
Americans ARE NOT SMART...it's really simple.
sadly enough, and thanks to 30 odd years of Republican rule, Truth be damned is now the slogan of America. WMD? Truth be damned! Out a covert CIA agent? Truth be damned!
Ive been a fan since they stood up to a certain US "Religion" a while back.
chuck @ 17:
Unless you're speaking of the media as a singular, monolithic entity. :)
dBa @ 18:
I've been saying for 20 years that most Amreicans can have their minds changed by a bumpersticker. Why do you think nobody knows what is going on in this country...sure we pay attention, but we are a small minority in America, most people just don't care about their country. sure they'll say they do if you ask them directly, but try to explain what is going on and you get that blank look like your trying to explain calculus.
The people of America just don't want to be bothered with the crimes being committed in their name, which to me says all the people who claim to have Religious Values are full of shit, because the first value would be not to commit crimes against humanity and don't go to war based on lies. Some people still don't realize that we presented false documents about yellow cake to the UN to justify going to war.
In he meanwhile...
Why isn't Lou Dobbs kicked out of the independant movement and forced to wear his true GOP colors?
My three-year-old son has an imaginary friend called Gawker the Tiger.
What happened in the streets of St. Paul -- a full flexing of the military/industrial/corporate/police state -- should have everybody terrified.
sixhundredsixtysix @ 14:
Cajones and starting to fight properly, minegott ! we are going somewhere now.
We may just pull off nov 4th at this rate.
Hey. If Oprah had a dime for every ugly rumour that was started about her -- oh wait. She does.
BigIslandDave @ 25:
Did you see that photo of the woman protester inside the RNC conference hall,
one of the suited RNC thugs had his hand over her mouth muzzling her.
Thats assault in the first degree, in any civilized country
Wow... Why can't all of our surrogates be like Wasserman-Schultz?
She was AWESOME on Hardball...
Gawker broke an "interesting" story about Matt Drudge and his male stripper friend too...

Oh look ... here it is now
I'd like to see Palin on the Gong Show.
Dumb thing to screw around with Oprah. She has enough money that she can afford to tie the entire lot of those clowns up in court for the rest of their natural lives, and do it for the sheer amusement it would give her.
Oprah can either choose to invite Palin on and then proceeed to eat her lunch, or she can can use her show to announce that since Palin has demonstrated herself to be a ready and bald-faced liar who too easily spews lies (site several specific facts in support), she does not wish to cheapen her show by having Palin as a guest.
Oprah Winfrey holds all the cards in this.
An aide in the White House once said, "We are an Empire now. We create our own reality. You can study it judicially as you will while we are creating another reality." Or some such bullshit.
With the media controlled by corporations and most of the GOP controlled by the Dominionist, right wing crazies, it is clear that the reality we live in is not the reality they live in.
It does not matter what we say or do to point out lies. Those lies, once spoken become reality. There is no going back.
Millions of people in this country still think we "went to war" in Iraq because of September 11 and not oil.
Who reads Drudge?
Every single "reporter" in the broadcast media.
masha @ 12:
Oprah endorced Obama, it's her show and she can put anyone she wants on her show.
End of story!

ROFL
jitter @ 35:
maybe for laughs
Oprah, the world's richest woman, would rather cut off a tit than miss the chance to grab the audience that a Palin appearance would generate.
Palin will be on Oprah before the end of Sept...
ferrofluid (Obama + Biden = 2008) @ 39:
Drudge is "the Village" idiot. He babbles a lot, but he seems to be everywhere, sees everything, and occasionally his mumbles contain nuggets of fact...
ferrofluid (Obama + Biden = 2008) @ 39:
Drudge would rather cut off a gonad than miss a chance for a lying smear.
He still has both of 'em.
He's the Karl Rove of the web.
Abraham Jackemoff @ 9:
They wouldn't though; Springer's one them libruls.
But THANK GOODNESS there are some good truths out there. ;-)

"Ever since being nominated as the Vice Presidential candidate of the
Republican Party, a lot of rumors have been swirling about Sarah
Palin. Rumors such as Sarah Palin spending her summers off from the
University of Idaho working for pesos as a performer in a Tijuana
donkey show, stumbling back across the border each night to San Diego
only to pass out from tequila in the back seat of her Chevy.
These rumors are true."
Jo @ 34:
England was an empire too. "The sun never sets on the English Empire"
Where are they now?
Oh the stories that were told, of kings and days of old, but there's no England now.
All the wars that were won or lost, don't seem to matter very much anymore.

Caliber "Hussein" O'Biden @ 2:
The worst part about it, is the media helps them.
woody, tokin librul @ 40:
I don't think so. I don't really follow Oprah, but her position seemed to be that since she had already committed to a candidate, she would not invite any of them to her show while they were campaigning. We'll see.
Oprah shouldn't have candidates on her show. Eight years ago she had Bush on, hugged and kissed him and didn't ask him any challenging questions, and it looked like an endorsement. I hear tell that Oprah has a bit of influence over her viewers.
Abraham Jackemoff @ 9:
Dang, Ah new I'd seen 'um somewhere's befo'. Wasn't they on jus' fo' tha' big fat guy that likes to do his mama.......no that wasn' it. Neva' mind but Ah'm shur' they was on their awhile back. Yep, knew Ah'd seen that hottie befo'
CMINCA @ 46:
Empire became Commonwealth, sort of a mini UN.
Britain is doing quite well these days sans empire, the Empire was a massive money draining burden which made a few very wealthy,
but kept the masses impoverished and ill educated and short lived.
Forgive my cognitive disconnect, but hadn't the McCain campaign flat-out refused to allow Wittle Sawah to be bullied by the big bad media at that point anyway?
I know since then they've decided to let Charlie Gibson show us what real journalism is all about, but not when this story came out. When Druge dredged this up, Sarah was still in her media burka and no one was allowed to gaze upon, (or ask impertinant, undeferential questions of), the real Sarah, at the risk of honor death by stoning from the McCain family lobbyists, or permanant ostracization from the campaign plane and those awesome McCain family barbeques.
Speaking of Drudge making something out of nothing, his headline as of 11:30 EDT:
OBAMA: LIPSTICK ON A PIG, STILL A PIG
With a pic of Palin. Clearly trying to go the sexist route.
i think oprah should call their bluff and invite palin on the show...with no rules
and then introduce her surprise guest....RACHEL MADDOW
BANG....ZOOOM
PALIN IS DEAD
When the legend becomes fact, "PRINT THE LEGEND."
http://www.hbo.com/events/rwuhl/
not spam but I agree it's borderline. I just think Wuhl's performance helps put this reality we're all struggling with every day into a more tolerable light.
it's nothing new, it just is.

and add to that: Laws?! They're not for us, they're for you librals!
jitter @ 35:
Every single corporate-hack-reporter?? Those ones owned by the corporate media they work for??? Is that who you mean???
richard @ 36:
REALLY??? Must be because the right wingers and the librals are looking at his site. No other explanation! For some real headlines and great news, checkout RawStory.com... you won't find made up stories there.
Uncle Joe Mccarthy @ 54:
I'd stay home from work to watch that!!
