Even my local paper, the St Pete Times is calling it for what it is, a petty tactic by the McCain camp. They had a bull-o-meter at the end of the article saying that it is such a stretch to think Obama was calling Palin a pig that no normal person would make. I'm happy most people seem to be seeing through this, so let it ride, it shows America who the petty party is. The only place i found on the web where people are decrying it are on the stupid youtube videos that are coming out from it, hell they are calling for Obama's death there, bunch of haters.
So it dawned on me what we should be doing about that. If someone says they think Obama is going to get assassinated and this is why they don't want to vote for him (which i have personally heard from several people), ask them, "Do you think he is going to get assassinated or do you hope that he is going to get assassinated?" When the obvious answer comes that they think he is (none of them will admit it's the other) then you say to them, "Were you worried about Reagan getting killed? Clinton? Kennedy? Lincoln? Bush? The president is always a target and the secret service take their job very seriously."
I've tried the line that if no one could get to Bush then no one is going to get to Obama, but that doesn't seem to work...

As an attempt at balance, I suppose, they actually interviewed a woman in Alaska who'd emailed a criticism of Palin and received something like 8,000 responses. Her message was NOT pro-Palin, but did they give even a few words about what she'd said? Hell no! They let it slide. Liberal media, my a**!!
In Maine the right wing republicans have "commandeered" their own BB. they feel that this is the end of the Obama campaign. If small town small minded americans are thinking like the small town small minded Mainers I have to deal with on a daily basis, then yes the repubs will run with this.

You cannot be governor of Alaska without flying on airplanes--constantly. The only way in and out of Juneau is by plane or boat. They need to find out what she's using for transportation. She's definitely flying in SOMETHING. The Westwind II that she was using is old, noisy, and not very fuel efficient. I'm sure they upgraded to something more economical; perhaps even chartering all of her trips (might want to see who got THAT contract).
Bottom line: she's exaggerating and/or misrepresenting why she sold that plane. She still has to travel by plane. What are the new arrangements????
