Hmmm, I still can never trust this guy, but when facts outweigh talking points, even Rove points out the obvious.
Rove: McCain has gone in some of his ads similarly gone one step too far in sort of attributing to Obama things that are, you know...beyond, beyond, beyond the, the 100% truth test.
Rove has to stutter when he talks about honesty and the McCain camp...He made Elmer Fudd proud. What percentage of honesty does Rove base his truth-o-meter on?

Login or Register to post comments.
He also said Fact Check Organizations can't ever be trusted. Is Fox a fact check org?
they can dish it out, but they cant take it,
ah diddums, tough sh1t Rove, enjoy the rollercoaster to obscurity and jail.
rove just wants 99% lies not 100%. the 1% truth is enough to carry an ad through for him.
beyond the, the 100% truth test.?
That's double speak for lies.
hum, Rove admitting his own tactics equate to lies...
A sure sign of the apocalypse
Last night, Tiny Fey did a great Palin impression. Who'd they get to do Rove. That couldn't actually be him.
Rove's specialty ('genius', if you will) is twisting a fact into a lie.
Complete fabrication from whole cloth is for amateurs.
MSM says:
Doesn't matter if it's positive or negative news about McCain: he controls the airwaves and America will vote for him in November because they never even heard of that Obama guy.
The only thing Rove admits is that going a "step too far" gets them CAUGHT. Then he accuses Obama of doing the same thing. Complete and total sleaze.
I thought he was going to swallow his tongue.
karl rove should be the only man in America who eats his bag lunch at home because:
no one can stand the sight of him(except in prison grays).
It looks like he was sucking on a lemon when he admitted that.
How can Rove think that they have gone too far when they are using HIS tactics?
Isn't Rove actually working on McCain's campaign?
well--he oughta know a liar when he sees one.
If Rove opens his mouth he is lying. Period. It is a tactic which if one spent any time deciphering, as with the slag against the possible governor pick Obama 'might choose', it was a distracting preamble, a lie.
As with a sociopath not one ounce of anything even resembling oxygen that passes through their corrupted bodies is uncontaminated, scheming 100% of the time always.
Always.
I want to play the clip, I really do, but I just can't stand listening to him...
Redsaunas @ 7:
True.
ChrisM70 Says @13:
See my comment at 8. Rove is actually just doing his job. Getting Main Stream Media to talk about McCain 24/7. Obama's campaign is so toast, and Rove--goddamn him--is too damn good at his job.
Maybe even rove can tell this shit storm is staring to backfire.
Great article in the NY Times today exposing Caribou Barbie, it's a must read. Today, her aides were the ones blamed about the lie about her visiting Iraq. Heads will roll.
Oh, the governor thing was to set-up and distract away from what McCain was about to do: pick a governor.
It isn't magic, isn't rocket science, it is slight of lie.
One would be wise to reverse what he says and understand what it going to happen next from the party of Christ.
Why isn't this fat fuck sitting in jail?
Instead he's on the Faux News Welfare Dole.
Maybe we can harness this windbag's hot air as an alternative fuel source.
The day of reckoning is coming for that fat punk.
Don't attribute a conscience to a slug like Rove. Doesn't have one other than to his wet source of potency.
mr.ed
The guy that played Truman Capote in Capote. He would make an excellent Rove.
McCain bought and paid for these lies. Honor Conduct? Not him.
Let's talk about how EVEN KARL ROVE thinks the ads have gone too far. Karl Rove will be happy if what we talk about is Karl Rove. All that time NOT talking about the issues. The clock is ticking....it will be November 4th before we know it.
Spit it out Karl, you corpulent little swine. The Truth is something with which you should familiarize yourself. This creep should be in jail, not on tv.
Rovian tactics are designed to take our eye off the real issues.

ohsuzanna @ 27:
That's one way to handle it, but this makes me nervous.
Obama's got a golden opportunity here, and he's blowing it. The media is actually on his side. Without his prodding. He could really strike.
Instead, the Republicans are seeing the writing on the wall. They'll say sorry, and then it'll be too late for Obama to display righteous anger.
He's just trying to salvage his career if McCain loses. I have no doubt he approves every negative attack ad.
He chastised Obama's ad that talks about McCain not using a computer. Rove tried to say it was because of McCain's injuries during his time as a POW that made his fingers not nimble enough to use a keyboard.
Hell, I know a lot of people who type with each of their index fingers only. The other day in a store, the guy typing up my order typed with only his index finger of his right hand.
The closest Rove has ever come to telling the truth.
Obama is drawing the biggest crowds, drawing in the most money, making the most sense, trying to talk issues and McCain is ahead in the polls?I do not believe it. There is something very wrong here.
When Obama went overseas, he looked and acted presidential, and was received with respect, and the foreign people stated they were hoping for an Obama win. No bump in the polls. Obama bringing in the huge crowds and setting records for the money sent in, no bump. The fantastic convention should have boosted his ratings way up. Nothing. Choosing the popular Joe Biden and no bump. Are all these new people that are registering as Democrats going to vote Republican? Not likely!
The American people are going to miss the opportunity of curing this country of the Bush and the Republican led congress disasters. Obama is a highly intelligent man and has as his running mate a man who could step into the presidency if that became necessary.
I have been thinking for quite awhile that something is very wrong here. I believe they are again about to steal the election. Why are we always so helpless in stopping them?
heydudes @ 31:
Approves them? Hell, he probably creates them.
Page A7 of today's Washington Post confirms that Rove is providing advice to a 527 group targeting Democratic candidates for the Senate and House, known as Freedom's Watch. That this bloated pig doesn't come with a warning label attached to him amazes me.
there is no destination too far for rove. this is just a way to.....
A) give MSM some other aspect pf McCain's campaign to run endlessly
B) distance the mcCain campaign from the real fact that rove and his tactics are a large part of their plan and
C)muddy the waters just enough to plany doubt in the minds of undecided voters that the right wingers actually do have a conscience.
all bullshit all the time.
redwhiteblue @ 33:
Check my link @20
Rove also said that factcheck.org is not to be trusted and has a bias. This guy would have fit right in with Hitler and his gang.
HA HA!! Hey Karl, spare us your phone umbrage - McSame learned well from what you did to him back in 2000.
And now you're just worried that this time it's backfiring on your party and your dream of a "permanent Republican majority"
Karma's a bitch isn't she?
Neocons and notorious Rethuglicans are all siding with Obama on a pile of issues. What does that say?
It says, even THEY want Obama elected. Ask yourselves why, and take off the partisan sunglasses.
Fox News interviewed Rove the other day when supposedly he was in Alexandria, Virginia. That's around the Beltway. Why can't they take him into custody if he's not in Texas?
what about the 1 percent truth test?e
and why is that fat fuck still not in prison?
This is purely strategic.
McCain's lies have served their purpose (plant doubts about Obama, fire up the Base), and now he can pretend to take the high road.
Now the "independent" 527s, the Swiftboaters and the pundits can take up the partisan lie-fest and finish the job on Barack Hussein Osama and his Baby Mama.
I don't trust the air this monster breathes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-u5mDZfrLw&feature=related
I think I will file this one under "plausible deniability" on Rove's always slippery part.
This is probably a way for Karl to seem detached from the McCain campaign.
As if.
Everyone seems to be missing the fact that it is the Republican McCain people who instantly identified the word "pig" with Sarah Palin, not Obama and the Democrats.
Say the word "pig" to a republican and they instantly respond with, "Sarah Palin!"
Uncle Joe Mccarthy @ 42:
I think 1% is too high for Rove. If you wave the truth over 100% lie, that would be close enough for him.
pissed off patricia @ 32:
In a
New York Times article dated July 13, 2008 McPOW said “that he had not mastered how to use the Internet and relied on his wife and aides like Mark Salter, a senior adviser, and Brooke Buchanan, his press secretary, to get him online to read newspapers (though he prefers reading those the old-fashioned way) and political Web sites and blogs.”
“They go on for me,” he said. “I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon, getting on myself. I don’t expect to be a great communicator, I don’t expect to set up my own blog, but I am becoming computer literate to the point where I can get the information that I need.”
When John McCain says he wants to "fire up" his "base," is he referring to al Qaeda ("The Base")?
McCain can't even score a 100% on the Rovian truth scale... now I wonder where he would be on the truth scale of someone who knows what the truth is?
david blimmo @ 50:
Nah, he's talking about pretending to be a Christian again to satisfy Hagee, Dobson and the rest.
Wait. He has Palin to do that for him now. Nevermind... al Qaeda it is!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTVHa4ikuNk
the world is laffing at sarah palin
Everytime I see this guy as some kind of friggin expert, I am so repulsed I cringe. Please eight years of this guy is enough. He should only be shown on post office walls at this point.
Karl (Duke) Rove doesn't have men friends. When I used to see him at the Austin dance hall, he was either drinking alone or talking to women. Men kept their distance. Yeah, I know. I'm disrespectful.
it was porky pig who studdered. not elmer fudd.
Now Rove is accusing Republicans of lying? Those neo-cons have fianlly succeeded in turning everything on its head. I guess up really is down.
Look, its Bush's Brain - Turd Blossom! And I bet he's got some strategery for us! 'Splain it to us Turd Blossom!
When he says he's "gone too far," it just means he's planning on ramping it up.
Everything this pig (Where's its lipstick, BTW?) is a LIE.
And I'll ask again: "WHY is this creature still oozing around free?"
But WHY, WHY, WHY do you give this fathead any juice at all? Politico is trumpeting that the dems are emailing this everywhere. It is a huge mistake; let the turdblossom sing to an empty theater!
Karl Rove should be the one to talk. He has no business telling anyone anything about what is a lie or the truth. After all, he is the master of the lie.
And I echo the questions of the others in this thread: why isn't this asshole in prison?
Uncle Joe, that video was hilarious! Thanks for the laugh.
Even when this nasty tub of shit is correct, I still don't want to what the fuck he thinks.
Let me get this straight! Karl Rove is actually saying that McCain is getting his "mccain skank" all over him? He's disassociating himself from McCain? Excuse me while I laugh
What the hell does he know about Truth?? 100% or otherwise?
I'm still waiting to see Karl's corpulant ass perp-marched into the Capitol.
Rove is being a classic Concern troll
Fuck that fat bastard.
His methods and the actions of his party have destroyed the country.
He can go fuck himself.
"Hmmm, I still can never trust this guy, but when facts outweigh talking points, even Rove points out the obvious."
Don't be naive. This is a common Rovean tactic -- withdraw endorsement for the slander after the damage is already done. That way, you look reasonable while you're adding to the arsenal of lies that will lead people to vote for your candidate.
There's no way to fight this strategy when the public is not curious to know the truth.
Who gives a fuck what that fat fuck says?
They went to far on truth, yes; but when was the last time truth mattered in politics? Lies get around the world seven times before the truth gets across the street; especially with a complacent and lazy media. Thus, McCain is blissfully sailing ahead of Obama in all the national and electoral polls. Bye-bye, golden democratic opportunity.
He's a man, He's a Treasure Trove, Yo Tell Me What's your name Dog....MC ROVE!!! "God I love that song" This Man is a freakin' GOD!!!!!!!!!!
Cramthra @ 15:
You must have been married to one. Ditto. My condolences.
Why is Rove not in jail? Is he TOO BIG to fail like all the banking/financial institutions?
wendy davis @ 60:
EXACTLY.
My gut tells me they don't want McCain to succeed. Rove has been sent out to put a chink in the armor. It also may be that when they had Bush out there it didn't matter what he said and what the ads said. The uglier the better. Maybe they know McCain can't pull it off. Even Sarah Palin can't.
Of course, there's always the theory that the Rove and Republican machine do not want a Republican in the white house. Palin succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Can you imagine what will happen to the Republican party and the herd of goats the devil has conjured up to run it if McCain gets in? Petty ugly.
Boy does he have trouble spitting out that 'T' word.
That's really rich, given that Rove was probably the architect of McCain's slimey strategy.
I heard a story on NPR last week where some Republican strategists were quoted as saying the latest ads were not lies as they were 'fundamentally true'????
What the hell is 'fundamentally true'?
Regarding the clip above, you know you're a true bottom feeder when Carl Rove says you've gone over the line! I can see it now; McCain dies in office and the 'hawkey mom' is president of the most powerful nation on the planet. Are you scared yet?
Windy Davis @ 60
But WHY, WHY, WHY do you give this fathead any juice at all? Politico is trumpeting that the dems are emailing this everywhere. It is a huge mistake; let the turdblossom sing to an empty theater!
I think it's because to some people it shows how bad it really is for McCain if one of his own "Unofficial advisors" is saying that McCain's latest ads are hurting, not helping him.
This HAS TO BE the height of cynicism. Rove says someone else has gone too far?!?!?
McCain's latest ads are hurting him? Then why is he dancing away with the key the battleground states in the national and electoral polls? McCain is winning. Obama is losing. That's the final tally.
Bill Orally also defended Obama, because he--and Turd Blossom--know that it has crossed the line. It's becoming more and more obvious to your average sound-bite voter that McCain is not above the fray. Many of those morons will still vote for him. Republicans are all either rich or stupid, with most falling into the latter category.
"Rove responded, "McCain has similarly gone one step too far, attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the 100% truth test."
What is particularly evil about Karl Rove is he knows what is "100% truth," as far as Facts are concerned, but chooses to compromise this "100% truth" in running his devious and deceitful political campaigns.
Anything less than "100% truth" is a LIE.
So, this statement by Rove says a lot about him and the twisted way he thinks. Just like Faux News, Rove sprinkles a little bit of "truth" on his lies, just enough to give people the false impression that what they heard was "true" because a little bit of it was "true."
So, we end up (in Rove world) with 90 percent LIE hiding under 10 percent "true", or whatever percentage, but never "100% truth."
rove gets no props. phuque rover.
turdblossom is an appropriate nicKKKname.
All turd, no blossom.
Something about Rove saying this just doesn't sit right with me.
Nevertheless, whether its meant as a trap or not, use the excerpt and formulate an ad.
Still though, since when does Karl care about when his team lies? - He's the best at it. Just too weird.
Democrats are as prone as Republicans are to seeing only what they want to see. What's Rove really saying?
"BOTH campaigns are making a mistake..."
"McCain has gone in some of his ads SIMILARLY [as Obama] a step too far..."
"THEY don't need to attack EACH OTHER in this way..."
Four times in 30 seconds he blames BOTH sides when the fact is that McCain's ads, in terms of untruth, have been egregious, blatant and sleazy beyond the pale when compared to the Obama ads which, technically speaking, have themselves taken some liberties with the truth. Rove has successfully equated small exaggerations to blatant lies. Now when people read headlines like "Blizzard of Lies" they will assume it is about both campaigns when in fact such stories that are now coming out in a flood are almost exclusively about the lies of the McCain campaign.
Rove is basically playing to a draw here, when, on this issue, the Democrats should have won public opinion hands down. The Obama campaign is helping the other side by playing up this clip which wrongfully castigates BOTH sides in equal measure.
Republican voters may (or may not) be stupid, but Republican strategists and campaigners are clearly smarter than their Democratic counterparts.
Has the bloom gone off the turd?
ChrisM70 @ 13:
Yeah, that is what I thought too.
KKKarl Roves doesn't have a sincere bone in his body. He's living breathing proof just how far this country is in the crapper--it's hard to still care. Financial advisors have been saying for years that the bottom is going to fall out in 2009. Hope against hope, but it seems to be unraveling just that way. This election has been the democrats to loose and boy they seem to be doing a swell job as usual. Obama's choice of Biden was self serving and not in the country's best interest. As a life long democrat close to retirement (watching my savings and retirement money turn to dust) I'm disgusted and wish there was an alternative to turn to.
hey speaking of bigoted attacks, my friend's going to print these up. expect to see them in Portland Oregon very soon! feel free to bite it, print it and rock it in your own city! =)

So typical of Rove to say that we he does not really believe. Let's see the McCain campaign release a barage of campaign ads with out right lies and distortions.
Then Rove marches out to appear like some peacemaker by suggesting the campaigns tone down the false rhetoric, etc.
If Fox News had ANY decency and respect for the law, they would stop allowed this criminal to appear on TV. He needs to be locked up and held in contempt for not appearing before Congress and falsely claim executive privilege when no such privilege was granted to him.
So both O'Rielly and Rove think McCain has gone too far*.....

* of course both of them are POS lying !@#!@#!@tards, but still...
....
actually...
and I just had a thought.
Karl Rove has been subpoenaed by Congress and failed to appear. isn't he still wanted? but apparently his lawyer's making a good case about how he was sworn to secrecy.
so - aside from the hypocrisy of Rove keeping important information out of terrorists' eyes and ears by refusing to appear on CSPAN, then giving important information to terrorists' eyes and ears by appearing on FOX...
but...
if he's been advising McCain or McCain's advisors... and Obama's promised to go after any previous administration's criminals if anything comes up... so -
shouldn't Rove have to like, recuse himself from comment? or at least, isn't there *some* kind of FCC rule that would make him have to frame every one of his comments when he comments - "federal law of course requires that I make sure you know that I have a vested interest in John McCain winning the presidency, but..." type statement?
This is bullsh!t - just part of a strategy by the Republicans. Rove comes out offering the slightest criticism of McCain so that when the Obama camp criticizes the "Carl Rove politics" of the McCain campaign, they can retort "Carl Rove has absolutely nothing to do with the McCain campaign tactics... if he did, why would he have criticized our ads on September 14th!"
... Fearing a backlash, Rove doesn't want to be held accountable --- because he knows we know he is accountable.
you need to see the entire exchange, not just the sound bite that makes us liberals laugh.
rove is framing this in a way to drag obama down to mccain's level. this is the new talking point to push town hall meetings.
however, you left out the funniest part. for rove to say that "there ought to be an adult who says do we really need to go that far in this ad..." is priceless. it hurts so much.
