You just can't make this stuff up. I really didn't think the Allen asshattery of this week's "Americans are not addicted to oil. Americans are addicted to freedom" comment could be topped, but this takes the cake.
Northern Virginia Republicans, realizing they need to improve their appeal among the region's large ethnic population, will stage a "unity" rally Saturday that they say will draw 1,000 people.
Organizers said the annual rally, which has grown in recent years, is particularly significant this year because ethnic minorities represent an increasingly powerful voting bloc that will help decide which presidential candidate, Sen. Barack Obama or Sen. John McCain, wins the state Nov. 4.
...Hyland said he expects as many as 1,000 supporters to turn out for the event at Edison High School, where former senator George Allen and Reps. Tom Davis and Frank R. Wolf are expected to speak. Former Virginia governor James S. Gilmore III is planning to attend, as is a widely known surrogate from McCain's campaign, organizers said.
Exactly what kind of outreach does the GOP think Allen -- the man who gave us the word "Macaca", kept a confederate flag and a noose in his office, hangs out with buddies of a white supremacist group, as well as bragged about stuffing a deer head in an African American family's mailbox -- will be able to do?

That sounds to eerily similar to the plan the GOP came up with to deal with terrorists. Forcing freedom and change down peoples throats seems to be the only strategy they have, other than manipulating people with fear and lies.

and i just moved from that area last summer. I actually have an Edison HS letter that I received when I was 5 for being their mascot in their majorette squad.
I grew up in Franconia, my mom still owns a home that is almost directly across from Edison HS... there wont be too many friendly faces there for Felix Macacawitz -- they'll all have to be bussed in like in 2006.

Is it just me or is there list of speakers a little odd for a group trying to reach out to minority voters? From what I can tell, there are no actual minorities speaking. The list so far -- Allen, Wolf, Davis, Gilmore -- all white men. Maybe the unnamed but "widely known surrogate from McCain’s campaign"? Seems like they might have a credibility problem. "Yes, we care deeply about your issues. And who can represent your views and concerns better than all these white guys?"

I believe George Allen was born in California, as a young guy he joined the Young Republicans, you know, the group who always supports wars and suppression as long as it didn't include them. Then he decided to move to Virginia and act like a good ole boy. He was a fraud and his fellow Repugs knew it, but he pulled it off. His good friends are Rick(bestiality)Santorum and Newt. Has anyone ever seen "Gods and Generals"? Piece of crap. The totally craptacular facial hair in the picture says it all. This is a movie with bloodless battle scenes, nobody gets blown to pieces, and Robert Duvall looks embarassed to be seen. I'm not bloodthirsty but the civil war is FAMOUS for its carnage and to whitewash it makes NO sense whatever. Plus, the only "quirk" Stonewall Jackson displays is his love for lemonade (it's well known he was kind of a nut).
