Letterman Taunts McCain, Day 2

You don't stand up David Letterman for Katie Couric.  You just don't.

Here are the REAL Top Ten Reasons McCain ‘Bailed’ on Letterman
http://satiricalpolitical.com/?p=3455

Good ole Dave. When Bush was started his first run for the White House in 2000. Dave could see through him and called him a "boob." Dave was right then and he is right now.

Funny, but he might want to stop while he is ahead.

Watch the videos of McCain while Obama was telling him all the things he was wrong about. He is just about to blow a gasket. Wish Obama would have kept going. Then the whole viewing public would have seen the real McCain. Not so cool.

Ream him good, Dave.

McCain and Palin; a couple of comedy gems.

.

I'm still wiping the tears of laughter from my face after watching this;

Barbara @ 3:

Funny, but he might want to stop while he is ahead.

No, Dave, don't stop - grind him into sawdust. He lied for no reason. All he had to tell you was that with the economy cratering it wasn't the night for comedy.
Instead, he was going to do an interview with Katie and then hit a function the next AM and then off to DC to help fill in the crater. A raincheck from Dave would be deeply appreciated and not forgotten. Instead, he lied for no reason. A weasel. A George Bush. A slimeball. Yes, it is possible for a POW to be a slimeball.

Obama/Rufus 2008!

did you know that humor comes from fear?

monkeys do this thing called the "fear grin".

and, on topic... mccain really shouldn't have dissed letterman.

I agree with Letterman. What McCain did was extremely rude, but then we know he is a rude person.

"I feel cratered."

lol

I agree. Well, McCain just burned that bridge -- to nowhere. He'll never appear on that show again.

It really is pathetic. McSame and Mrs. Filler.

don, you've got a really nice site, but how come you never want to hang out with us?

Olbermann once called Dave 'Jesus with a cigar."

McCain thinks he can have it both ways. He is used to MSM fawning over him. His arrogance is showing. I hope Dave hits night after night.

Watching these clips of Letterman almost makes me wish I had a teevee.

Snappy Sammy Smoot says never weewee on yer teevee.

uh no....

this will be a running joke till election day

but thanks for playing

Letterman harangued Madonna for a good year after her trashy "interview". You don't know Dave, do you. Keep it up Dave. We love you. McSlime deserves every bit of it. He's a calculating liar.

Barbara@3 And as a consolation prize for being on our show; you win a free book!

It's "Songbird McKeatings 100 Greatest Excuses

It includes such gems as: Admiral : "Why did you blow up your own aircraft carrier, son?
Commander Clueless : "I'm a maverick, Dad!"

Looks like David Letterman has himself a treasure-trove of McCain comedy gold to work with now. He never forgets a snub. He's not even afraid of angering his boss, CBS.

Go get em, Dave!

McCain is so stupid, he thought this was going to just go away just like when he ditched Larry King Live. You just don't diss a comedian, especially one with his own show!!!

All of this shows is that McCain is a rude, crude and ill-mannered man who treats everyone like the feces he scrapes from his shoe. This point is not lost when he two-times Letterman and refuses to look Obama in the face.

I suggest that people just sit back and let McPOW implode. He's slowly getting there--especially when Obama gets the upper hand and tells him that he's wrong on the question of foreign policy.

Just get some popcorn and watch the Straight Talk Express dip into its nadir. Palin is the next up on this dreary affair.

Not only will she be pounding those nails on her own coffin, she'll be digging the ditch for McCain too.

So, McPOW is getting a lesson from the ghost of Christmas present of what it is like when the world sees you as you are without hiding behind the skirts of handlers and the GOP.

David doesn't have to worry about making CBS mad - he's made his pile. If they pull the plug, he'll go out to his beach house in Malibu and watch seagulls. For about as long as it takes another network to offer him many, many dollars.

McCain is about to learn something that kings and princes have been learning the hard way since man started telling stories around cook fires - "Never piss off a bard - for your name is funny and rhymes with Greensleeves."

Prediction:

Palin finds a way out of next weeks VP by claiming that she has to get back to AK for her daughters wedding ... don't believe me, read the timesonline.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections...

The McCain/Palin campaign in a nutshell:

A POW, a verb, and an airhead. Amen.

Dave is notorious for holding a grudge when guests "wrong him" this will continue for another 7 weeks.

I'm no McCain fan, but he didn't blow up his ship. It was a cook off from another aircraft that struck his aircraft causing other bombs to go off.

I'm wondering if McGrandpa got to stay up late and watch Dave and Keith from his hotel room... oh, to have been a fly on that wall!

McCain burns another bridge. And what stupid way of doing it

McCain is back at one of his 13 houses rethinking his policy that the USA will no longer torture prisoners.

Rufus@27 Besides which - the dog ate his Skyhawk!

It was funny the first day...now he's appear a bit petulant, wouldn't you say?

scruzman @ 32:

He always does that. It is what is called a running gag.

Petulant? Nah! Schtick!

scruzman @ 32:

It was funny the first day...now he's appear a bit petulant, wouldn't you say?

No, not petulant at all and it will be funny every show from now until election day. A constant thorn in McCain's paw.

Sorry scuz (if I may be so bold as to use the shortened version of your name) but if you have lost Dave you have lost the country. We shall never forget this day. It will go down in infamy.

Barbara @ 3:

Funny, but he might want to stop while he is ahead.

WHAT?

scruzman
No, not at all
All McCain had to do is tell the truth. I am sure Dave would have understood that going on a news program was more important at the time.

Just think, one little lie and he loses the presidency. Life is such a crap shoot.

If McCain wouldn't have dumped Letterman to appear live on Couric, McCain knew that the Palin interviews would have been the top featured story on Courics show. Knowing what a total disaster that was, he made a move of desperation and stiffed Letterman. McCain is incapable of thinking beyond the next move.
Not appearing on Letterman is going to be THE single biggest move that takes his campaign down. It was an obvious lie and a cheap, tawdry, stupid move, and he pulled it on someone with a sharp wit, a strong sense of decency, and a direct beam into the households of millions. McCain and his campaign staff are the only people on earth who don't know that you really shouldn't pull this kind of shit on Letterman. But now they know too.

A man who would fuck Letterman would fuck America. We have been warned. That is all.

"I feel cratered!"

That's my word for the week :-D

Letterman harangued Madonna for a good year after her trashy “interview”. You don’t know Dave, do you. Keep it up Dave. We love you. McSlime deserves every bit of it. He’s a calculating liar

----------------------------------------

even cbs news cant do anything about it. good for him. mccain deserves it for being a liar.

letterman is beloved by a host of people not the least of which are his staff who were paid continuously through the writer's srike. letterman paid for their salaries from his own pocket about 300K a day.

he is the johnny carson of today. stand-up comedians are thankful for him giving them a spot on his show. he produced everybody loves raymond (ray romano cut his expensive pants as tribute to letterman when the show ended, it was moving in a weird way) and he currently produces craig ferguson's show.

he is so influential especially in his native indiana that the rnc is buying airtime to counter to his tirade against mccain this past week.

keep it coming dave.

I have been watching Letterman all these years and I feel like I know him personally. Even though he is trying to be funny, and keep it entertaining, and hide his anger, he is very angry. He is responsible host for the show and knows how coveted the show has been for people to do what he does, and bless for it. I have seen him get really mad before and my radar pick this moment that his anger here is almost the same. Way back he was targeted by the Bush administration for something he said, and the administration apologize for their attack. That was the first time Bush felt the weight of a blow for picking on David Letterman. I don't know Dave political preference but after that event he called Bush a boob and I know he is just waiting for things to go back to normal before Bush. I have been drawn stronger to his show, and rarely watch Jay Leno. This year I watch Leno because of Shawn Johnson and her peace earring for the Olympic, and knew she supported Obama.

Personally I hope Dave keeps mocking McCain.

McCain is a ugly date! He was cheating on his wife with another woman, and now he cheated on Dave by seeing Katie Couric.

cnn (through tom foreman)featured late night highlights the past week. surprise surprise, letterman's tirade vs mccain wasnt included. it was the biggest late night news of the week and cnn dropped it from their late night feature? schmidt must scare them bigtime. grow a pair, cnn.

Interesting how quickly CBS has these pulled off of You Tube. Would they act so quickly if Letterman was trashing Obama?

Sailor@48 Yeah, what's the story on You-Tube?

Another fascist to boycott?

I'm sick of this McCain is a hero shit. He crashed five planes in training, then got shot down and captured.

Last I looked, getting shot down and captured is not a military objective. It's the opposite of a military objective.

Who knows how many lives McCain put at risk. And when he had a chance to get out of the POW camp, which was greased by his high Admiral father, it was Henry Kissinger who put the Kibosh on releasing prisoners because of nepotism. Years later, it is reported that when McCain met Kissinger at a DC cocktail party, he thanked him publicly for "saving his honor."

Remember, folks, it was on Dave's very show that John McCain announced his candidacy for President.

I remember it because it was kind of awkward how we went about it, Dave had to ask again if he was saying he was going to run for President and McCain said something like "I just said I was, didnt I?"

I didnt know that Olbermann and Dave were friends. I know that Dave and Al Franken are friendly with one another. Both old school comics, both sick of Repug criminality, and it was on his show that I really hoped Al would run for Senate. I have been a supporter of his ever since.

Hmm...........interesting editing of the Letterman show.

Must read especially from somebody who anchors a show on CNN/

Fareed Zakaria: Palin Is Ready? Please.

http://www.newsweek.com/id/161204/page/1

So he lied to Dave, listen for 5 1\2 years McCain was forced to tell the truth. Now that he's back in the land of the free, he has the freedom to lie (mis-speak) whenever he wants because he's a hero. Ha Ha

masha@54 Thanks for the link.

I think....

it was funny, but I wish Paul Schaeffer would shut the f*ck up for a while.

Dave holds a hell of a grudge when he wants to.

Hope this one lasts...

and lasts...

and lasts...

One enjoyable side effect of this election is John McCain sundering his chummy relationship with the press and celebs. He'll come crawling back afterwards, apologizing and attempting to rationalize about the "heat of the election" moment. He genuinely craves the adulation and attention of the press and celebs. And after all his deceptions and outright lying, and after having supported the Iraq disaster, I hope it nags and burns him to the end of his days that he is no longer the celebrity maverick Senator. That he is forever remembered as George W. Bush, Term 3.

A craven liar willing to do or say anything to gain office.

Scottie @ 57:

Come on, Paul is the second banana sidekick. Some years back Paul was missing from the show (don't remember why), and the result was not good.

McClueless hasn't quite figured out the 21st Century yet...
he says something foolish then denies he said it when VIDEOtape shows him saying it.
he cancels out on a huge late night talk show and wonders how Dave and the rest of us found out.
he avoids eye contact with his debate opponent as though they were about to engage in a cage match.
after eight damn years of the cowboy dunce, this nation is in dire need of a sophisticated diplomat, not another fake thug.
enjoy the rest of your weekend folks!

The critter cratered.

he's right, i used to think dave looked hawt, but now he just seems cheap and sullied....
go gettum dave! lol.

Would I be of in saying that Dave is never funnier than when he's steamed?

Paul adds to the show, and he is cool by me.

http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=david+letterman+McCain&hl=en&emb=0...

This video that some rightwinger put up really done a hatchet job on the editing to make David Letterman look like a douche. Have they no shame in propaganda? Once again truth has a liberal bias.

You are right, paranoia. Dave is very angry and has been for quite some time.

Great clip @ 64, too. Paul Shaffer is the perfect sidekick with his goofy inanities and zaniness. Such a talented musician too.

Can't wait to see what Dave and Paul will be talking about Monday night!

scruzman @ 33:

It was funny the first day...now he's appear a bit petulant, wouldn't you say?

Um, no, it doesn't.

There are many comedians one can piss off, but if you're John McCain, who was a frequent guest on Dave's show, he would well know that Letterman is one comedian YOU DON"T PISS OFF.

Hell, he and Oprah just kissed and made up last year, and that's after they had been feuding for more than ten years.

Jo @ 38:

Barbara @ 3:

Funny, but he might want to stop while he is ahead.

WHAT?

Because if he continues to do this, some people might start feeling sorry for Grandpa McCain (and I don't want that).

Dave is so funny! That was hilarious. Amazing how the comics do their jobs better than the newscasters.

Actually, I felt like Letterman was trying to soften the blow from the previous night. He was more self-deprecating about the situation and focused on standing him up, whereas the night before, he was getting to some meat in regard to McCain.

Did anyone catch Mccain mumbling "horseshit" while Obama called him out on not knowing who the PM of Spain was during the debate. I swear if Obama presses hard enough we may see the steam shooting out of Mcsame's ears and "tooooooot!"

Watch this one here.

wow. lotsa mccain haters. never mind that the economy did crater. never mind that by going back to dc the democrats scrambled to get a bill ready. he is rude for canceling on dave and he is erratic for leaving his campaign. dave after all has more important responsibilities than mccain. never mind that in '05 he was one of the few who said we better watch these two fm's. never mind that while he was pushing for over site of the two fm's, these democrats were lying through their teeth saying all is good, overstating gains and shifting losses while pocketing millions. who got the second highest contributions from these two? that's right, nobama. who did nothing to prevent this mess we're in? nobama again! no-ba-ma! no-ba-ma!! no-ba-ma!!!

Don't crater me bro!

Now I feel like an ugly date.

Ha ha ha, watched it again.

Those 28% are so pickled in Koolaid, God could come down and prove Bush is Satan, and they would call God a liar.

For those who are confused, like Dave seems to be...

it's possible to criticize McCain without worshipping his vast heroism first. You won't be hauled off to jail.

An A class piece of comedy, take the audience down the serious hero road, then BAMM!

It makes it even better when you play off a second banana, and Paul S is brilliant at it, especially his timing. You can see Dave having a giggle at it.

The real reason McPOW ditched Dave for Ms C was he needed to shore up any mess that Mcfailin' did when she cratered on her show.

Top ten reasons Palin will skip the VP debate
1. Alaska is cratering
2. Marriage is cratering
3. Pregnant daughter is cratering
4. Updo is cratering
5. She's pregnant again
6. Needs more anti witchcrafting
7.Pitbull ate her VP crib notes
8.Doesn't talk to the press
9. Pakistan leader is stalking her
10. Afraid of being cheap date of Letterman

It would be great if Dave found out about this and used it on his show. He could make it a point to make sure Indiana votes against McCain, set it up as a running gag on the show through the election.

The moral of the story is don't mess with Dave. McCain just gave him material for the next 40 odd days. And I do mean odd.

Worst case scenario, McCain wins and Dave goes off the air.
Best case scenario, Obama wins and goes on Dave show to thank him.

McCain is a lying, cheating punk.

Keep nailing him, Dave.

Oh, and here's the thing: He ISN'T a hero.

Whoever advised insanemccain to cancel the Letterman show at the last minute, gave him VERY BAD ADVICE!

That was the dumbest PR move, he has ever made.

If insanemccain were as lucid as he'd like us to think, he would have never pissed Dave off!!

BIG MISTAKE, HUGE MISTAKE!

Thank you, insane babe, for helping to elect Barack Obama. We owe you, big time. bwaawaahaahahahaha

After being called out (finally!) by some in the corporate media for being a LIAR for the past couple of weeks, Mr. "Straight Talk" then goes and LIES to the most powerful late night voice on TV. Proving that when given the chance between an honest response and showing of respect, he will almost always go the other direction with a LIE and disrespect. There was no reason for him to lie as many have already said. The truth would have been so much easier and could have been spun as a positive by a competent campaign. He couldn't do that though because I think he has a basic inability of telling the truth. The true sign of the serial liar is they lie for no reason. They lie because that's their comfort zone. They lie because they don't care about the truth.

John McCain has built an entire career on his ability to lie and if Dave is the conduit through which the people learn this, I will be forever in his debt.

Never let up Dave, the stakes are much too high.

The response back from his McPR was that a comedy show wasn't important. It is of course not just a comedy show, and that kind of remark will make Dave crater even more.

McCain was caught in a stupid lie and Letterman called him on it. Joy Bahar on the View also called McCain on his ads being untruthful and many Americans find that refreshing. Regardless of McCain's claim that the media is in the tank for Obama, more reliable news sources need to call him and Palin out on their blatant lies. We have had an administration that has lied to the People for the last eight years. If the McCain campaign continues to lie and the people elect him then Americans will get another Liar in office and if that isnt more of McSame what is

Try not to make a big deal out of this... all will be forgiven the moment McCain goes on Letterman again. After all, he is a hero as everyone points out constantly.
