Although still based in jazz in both rhythmic feel and harmonic progression, the arrangement harkens back to the orchestral backing tracks of Holiday's earlier releases. Regardless of arrangement or genre, even as one of her last recordings, her signature style was still apparent in her performances, from her deep vocal tone to the way she sings just behind the beat. A singer with that balance of virtuosic talent and uniqueness doesn't come around too often.
