Chris Wallace and Fox News Sunday invited Rush Limbaugh on this morning to give his own version of a State of the Union for conservatism, since the GOP is in utter disarray and open war over the Trump/Cruz campaigns leading the presidential primaries.

Limbaugh is a huuuge Cruz supporter and has called Ted the most Reagan-like candidate in our lifetimes, but Chris Wallace challenged him on that point since Reagan was well liked and affable, while Cruz is even despised by his right wing compatriots.

WALLACE: You have not endorsed a candidate, but you talk very favorably about Ted Cruz. In fact, the other day you said he's the closest we're going to come to Ronald Reagan in our lifetimes.

Now, I didn't know Ronald Reagan as well as you did but I did cover him for eight years as president. I’ve got to say that I felt that Reagan was more inclusive than Cruz is, more about trying to soften the edges to get more people inside the tent.

There's no denying this fact. Cruz has acted like a jerk the moment he was elected into the Senate to D's and R's alike. But Limbaugh explained that it was Cruz' strategic decision to campaign as an uber right wing Christian conservative, which has made him so caustic to those around him.

Anyway, Senator Cruz thinks that if he can get those voters, that -- and everybody else votes the same way they did in 2012, they can win in a landslide. So, he's tailored his message for a specific conservative evangelical. I think it's limited his appeal. I think he has the ability to appeal to everybody.

That's a stretch. Cruz is so far right, he'd have a big problem appealing to anyone outside of the rabid conservative base that's he's been courting from the beginning.

And then RushBo went off the deep end by trying to normalize Ted Cruz, as a middle of the road guy you'd like to have a beer with.

And he is a nice guy, a likeable guy. He's not crazy. He's not nasty. And he certainly is not -- he’s not a liar. He's a down -- down the middle guy that I -- anybody could trust. He has got plenty of integrity.

Ted Cruz is about as charming and likeable as an angry bee hive. And he's as far from the middle as Russia is from Auckland, New Zealand.
